ivory puzzle – dj krust a straight up banger from dj krusts -cloaking- bass era. like many tracks from the time, it s working simplicity was it s defining factor. a very hooky arpeggiated intro and breakdown and an unrelenting drum and bass workout, the track steps up a gear getting more intense every sixteen bars taking the dance floor on the musical equivalent of a nitro fuelled sprint down a drag strip.
flip it – dj krust a futuristic roller with sampled funk breakbeats reminiscent of -true stories- and -soul in motion-. like many of the krust and full cycle releases this was a tune screaming to be mixed with others, it s unexpected drum edits and fx popping in and out making it impossible to tell when one tune ended and another began. the resonating b-line always sounded huge on a rig and paved the way for a myriad of future generations of bass ideas. quite a rare tune, only krust, die and bryan g had this on dubplate.

one of the core members of the apollonia family is the mastermind behind the label’s latest release. shonky steps up with his first solo ep since ‘plombiére’ which dropped in july 2016. full of funky flavours and that distinct ‘shonky style’, the new ep consists of four brand new tracks produced exclusively for apollonia. each track emanates its own unique vibe, while reppin’ shonk’s irresistible groove. on side a we have ‘tyrolien’, a jaunty number with bright tones and a tight, rolling groove. shonky injects it with a series of unusual fx and what sounds like an wizened old creature, speaking about ‘the foulest stench in the air’. it’s a superb combination and sets the ep off to a great start.next up is ‘beat street’ which has a heavier set of beats, which stomp down as a marauding b-line gets to work. tiny fizzes and cheeps in the background add depth, sounding like robotic birds at play in the wild. the track is minimal in its make up, but deep and engrossing, classic shonky material.flip the vinyl over and we have ‘torro rosso’, a bold, stomping workout with fresh percussion and a jovial analogue riff. as the bubbly low end percolates way down below, the beats pump the track along and an extra layer of analogue funk enters the fray midway through. the final track is titled ‘serpent a&#768,,, sonnette’ and swithes the vibe. it’s loose, meandering and twisted, with a hypnotic bassline and super sharp percussion. this one is going to get the dance floor locked into a groove, as it progresses a sweet, chirpy melody brightens the mood. feel the glow!once again shonky demonstrates his ability to produce groovy dance floor cuts that have their own unique fingerprint, danceable, unusual and utterly captivating. grab the new ep now!

iona fortune is a composer and producer from glasgow and presents the “tao of i” album as her debut release. inspired by eastern philosophy and slated to be the first in an 8 album series exploring all the symbols of the i ching, her music is influenced by oriental sounds and features a palette of instruments that includes the guzheng, gamelan and synthi aks. the overall effect is a singular and beguiling sound that loosely fits in with the fourth world concept imagined by jon hassell, and indeed iona fortune has also contributed a track to optimo music’s new fourth world compilation “miracle steps”. the initial vinyl edition will come on a white vinyl pressing with inside sleeve and original artwork by iona fortune.

medea tells its story within a deep but powerful ambient soundscape that will make you dive into dark hypnotic psychedelia. don’t forget to wake up… inflict is a futuristic sub-bass heavy broken techno roller. driving but refined, full of subtle variations and intricate sound design where idm, jungle and electro unite. both tracks have been magnificently mastered by pole at scape mastering in berlin. from 2008-12 pierre serafini ran airflex labs, one of the first french labels to release uk inspired bass music, and since 2012 he has been producing and djing under his more techno and electro inspired moniker peev. throughout the varied steps of his career, his musicality and meticulous attention to detail have seen him forge multiple connections and alliances: notably through his work promoting his residency haste at lyon’s iconic le transbordeur. haste lasted over half a decade and brought multiple international artists from the post-dubstep and uk continuum to lyon, where they shared the stage with local artists, helping develop the environment that has seen lyon blossom as a scene in recent years. pierre has now been active as a dj and producer for over 15 years, sharing stages with the likes of autechre, blawan, mount kimbie, shackleton, umwelt, andy stott, plaid, hodge, lee gamble, pearson sound, objekt, call super, joy o, beneath, leif, and many more. in 2016, serafini released the highly anticipated “delia” ep, which was the first title on french stalwart oxyd’s new label intramuros. the fine blend of idm, industrial, techno and ambient music, refined over decades in his precise productions has made peev one of the most exciting contemporary artists in the renascent french scene.

ivanlatyshev is a record producer and dj with more than 10-years experience, having grown up in russias cultural epicentre of st petersburg. developing a love for deep house, the young producer has been releasing his perfectly-realised club tunes on labels such as toolroom, and now provides us with a second outing on dessous recordings. the art of flying ep presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut. the original art of flying is quite a statement a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the track, before solidifying around punchy 4/4 groove. restless synths drift in and out resulting in a track that is both exceptionally funky and deeply wonky - topped off with a killer spoken word vocal. the ever-dependable eddie fowlkes steps up on remix duties and supplies a more jacking interpretation, adding a filthy bassline on his fly mix. the same track also gets a crazy dub rework which expands the space within the track and strips it down for maximum club effect.

!! 2018 repress !! flying high after their successful watergate 22 compilation, catz n dogz return to deliver eight exclusive tracks from their mix via two eps showcasing their expert ability to navigate a multitude of different styles. ep 1 commences with catz n dogz original fire burning when we are, a tune that sees them flying solo to create a stunning journey that lands somewhere sonically between carl craig and henrik schwarz where infectious drums reinforce an ensemble of dramatic harmonies tangling with euphoric melodies. afterglow follows suit with an attitude infused vocal from shaun j. wright laid over a trek into a world where old school vibes meet a new school plan of attack resulting in an absolute floor filler perfect for any time. rounding out the ep are remixes from two of the best: prosumer and sebo k. prosumer steps up first to rework fire burning when we ar’ and creates a massive tune with the signature prosumer touch, evident in the timelessness and maturity of the reimagining. sebo k in turn hands over a jackin remake of afterglow by staying true to the original by keeping everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

one of electronic music’s greats steps back into the limelight with his first ep in more than 10 years. erik van den broek, the dutch producer who is probably better known under some of his pseudonyms such as shiver, essit musique and acid kid dominated the 90’s with a slew of brilliant acid and electro releases on dance arena productions and shiver. erik was a firm favourite of dave clarke and laurent garnier who included some of his tracks on their perfectly blended mix cds (x-mix electro boogie and laboratoire mix respectively).
erik already made an appearance on de:tuned’s 5 years box set in 2014 with the track primerose and now he’s back with more previously unreleased material. the tracks on offer are all on a deeper tip, with warm yet slightly eerie and mysterious sounds, clever programming and subtle effects. proof that erik has still got it after all these years. these tracks were made during an emotional time for erik, something that is clearly reflected in the music.
once again we enlisted alan oldham for artwork duties and matt colton for mastering the source material to perfection. this ep will be available on 180 gr vinyl. a digital release will also be available from all the usual outlets. de:tuned are honoured to have worked with erik on this release, a very personal record for him. thanks erik & emiel for your confidence and support!

one of the leading lights of a growing collection of electronic pioneers from russia, muscovite anton zap steps up with an album of gloriously deep, beautifully produced music for apollo records. with a background in sound engineering, a back catalogue stretching back to 2007 and a djing career that goes back a decade further, anton zaps music is imbued with a serious knowledge and understanding of electronic music - from ambient movements to the late night thump of deep house proper, here is a producer who is as comfortable making out-there space soundscapes as he is detroit-influenced dance-floor weapons.
