two deep and driving house tunes by baaz! since the release of his last sol 12inch „swimmer“ (sol5) quite a bit has happened: baaz founded his own successful label office recordings, he has also created a new moniker for his dub techno productions as -eric miller-. his love of dubby sounds and echo chambers can be experienced in „the reason“ and „ancestor s fun“, although it s obvious that baaz also stays true to his deep house roots. he skillfully combines spacial structures with his characteristic driving beats and organic sounds. -the reason- is a grooving light footed tune with a jumping bassline and develops, step by step, this driving energy, that will not let you go. -ancestor s fun- brings up the energy level with stronger beats and open high hats, but the playful warm sounds and drifting strings keeps the wonderful flow that we love to hear from baaz s productions

a salsoul classic re-worked by the masters of the remix. unearthed from the vaults, remastered and released on vinyl in their full length, unedited glory for the very first time. with frankie delivering a remix and dub oozing both the style and grace accustomed to godfather of house and morales staying true to the percussive sounds of the original production this ep showcases why the def mix production team have always been the leaders of the remix.

an object resists changing its state of motion with inertia. what pushes back must then be even more vigorous in order to create a uid movement. an example of the force that embodies this dynamic can be found clearly on the appropriately titled inertia, aiken’s much anticipated return to chronicle. the spanish artist has been spending years honing his craft, focusing on sharp, distinct sounds that create a pure sense of kinetic energy. the title track of the ep bolsters a erce disarray of carefully (de)constructed atonal synthwork and a rhythm section that is set to detonate. it is then followed by “axial”, a track that stays as true to modular miscalculations as it does to stripped down techno, combining both in a subliminal cessation of sanity. however aiken isn’t done there. he continues with “magnetism”, which throws a brick in the glass of conventionality with its earth-shaking layers of textured momentum. phased pads then wash over “soul drama”, bringing the entire experience to an emotionally laced denouement. after the potency of his last record on chronicle as well as his releases on imprints such as his own label timeline and the spanish powerhouse semantica, inertia marks a de nitive step forward for an already exceptionally de ned artist.

following up the entity crew’s first release comes another residents ep, with two tracks from shai spooner + jordan dessar and a stellar remix from mannheim’s finest, fabe.
staying true to their london-centric sound, tracks -balanced diversity- and -soul dub- are peppered with references to uk garage, breakbeat and house, further helping the young label establish their soundscape.
the release is topped off by fabe’s remix of -balanced diversity-, a rocket of a track primed for the dancefloor and set to be an anthem. the perfect icing on the cake for this second, really strong release from entity.

following on from the very successful re-issue of the ‘little i ep” by fresh and low, foul & sunk records are proud to announce the release of fresh and low’s seminal deep house classic ‘wind on water’. originally released on chicago’s guidance imprint in 1996 this record put the glasgow producers firmly on the deep house map with it’s soulful blend of sparse beats, emotional pads and funk-laden fat bass-lines. re-mastered and re-cut with care and love, this release still sounds contemporary and yet retains that special vibe from the time it was created. a true house music classic.

roman poncet returns to figure with another batch of deadly efficient tools featuring four productions in his stripped-back signature style. opener vicious sets the stage with a snappy and muscular breakbeat holding the rhythm down tightly until creeping synths reveal the track’s true, eery intentions. marguerite is more welcoming, with gentle percussion and dubbed out chords making for a loop that could go on forever. the b-side is another example of skillfully sculpting sounds both lean and powerful. on atome i ricocheting synth echoes and fine layers of percussion sway back and forth until they collapse into an extended atmospheric breakdown. starting out reduced to its very nucleus, the second version slowly lets an electrifying tension fill the blank spaces. comprising a set of bare-bone grooves as slick as they are powerfully moving, roman poncet delivers another ep in true figure fashion that is sure to stay in the bag for a long time.

doc severinsen is an accomplished american jazz/pop trumpet player, and as a band leader gained considerable notoriety on the tonight show with johnny carson. like most musicians in the 70s, doc took his shot at the disco and funk sounds of the time, gathered stellar musicians, and released impeccably sounding works. two of these cuts, be with you and shine on me are featured on this release. harvey s unfailing magic touch has yielded two dj-friendly edits with a lot of punch and galactic energy, yet with a velvet undertone. staying true to the mission, the label took great care throughout the production process in order to preserve the quality of the original recordings.
