dubline records unveils their next release by the neurodub duo that runs the dubline camp - melamin & wicked sway. the theory behind this production outfit is balance. neurologically the human brain percieves information to be incomplete if it is not symmetrical. in a practice of endless work ethic the sound design interfaces perfected beats that have an even balance of elements. the process in which people follow music as a path is implied in the waking of the conscious mind while in it spirit. the thought process of their approach to neuro is always written for the peoples natural instinct to follow obvious paths of information that can be used to direct the appliance of listening as a being of light tunes in and drops out the appropriate information. thus by drawing attention to the information the focus remains to show the difference between the foreground and background. a focal point is intended to encourage the listener to always furthur the exploration of the information presented. using elements that are different to show that they are clearly different components of presented information and yet both also with similarity to those of the same reference. its simply easier for ones step towards enlightenment in the experience of being human to realize the thought process and recognize the ego, reminding at the expense of the thinking brain that its cheaper to die.

subtlety is not the first word used in connection with most djs, but there is much more the métier of germany s gregor tresher than simply playing records, as lights from the inside attest: just as a painting or photograph appears to move if one stares at it long enough, with close listening the stratified grooves and melodies assembled on gregor s stunning third full-lenght artist album reveal an organic universe of shifting sound. meticulous attention to the latter element—melody—was of utmost concern to the frankfurt resident. not obvious, eight-bar earworms that would quickly exhaust their welcome, but musical lines that could repeat, develop and intertwine in different patterns. in this regard, lights from the inside harks back to gregor tresher s earlier releases, but as always his sound aesthetic continues to evolve in new directions.

>red agent< is one of the only fully-solo tracks by disaszt on the album, and shows the austrian is just as comfortable alone in the studio as he is joined by his impressive roster of collaborators. dropping with a warm, rounded bassline and frenetically passed drums, >red agent< relentlessly steps away, and manages to bring a real jump-up flavour without ever resorting to the obvious.<br >/ram trilogy triumvir and all-round d&b legend shimon joins forces with disaszt on the flip, continuing a relationship thats already seen past collaborations and disaszt releasing for the englishmans audio porn imprint. a real highlight of the album, >snakey< makes for a welcome single release, with its eerie soundscapes, snarling bass licks and ultra-fresh sounding production. watch out for the cowbell.

praterei are back with their third instalment, again one for the heads and the hips alike. as per, pseudonyms are the order of the day and 7 citizens returns with more chicago synthestry in the form of >quietus<. the remix comes from force/emerge and proffers a gritty low slung alternative. as for the conundrums, 7 citizens has recently collaborated on one side of a huge double 12 inch release with one of the most in demand producers on the scene. and force/emerge...is copper mayfield too obvious? check!

in just three years, berlin based artist dehnert has gone from unknown talent to underground hero with his very own >raw techno< sound making waves on labels like his own imprint fachwerk and now delsin, where he finds himself at home amongst the future music of talented cohorts redshape, a made up sound, delta funktionen and more. this ep is an introduction to his upcoming album framework - an uncompromising album made up of pure techno tracks of the sort youd expect to hear on the dancefloors of places like berghain or tresor. they go from pulsing and classic sounding to skipping and glitchy, through greyed-out and sandy via swinging and syncopated but always with a sense of restraint and control whether they are abstract, apocalyptic, atmospheric or whatever else. although his tracks are undeniably functional, at the same time, they are neither nondescript nor forgettable: somehow, through masterful sound designs and an accomplished knack for blending real tension and atmosphere with his obvious basic channel and berghain influences, mike dehnert manages to lock you into whatever mood takes his fancy with apparent ease.

nice price deal !!! for their fifth release todd bodine (highgrade, treibstoff, mothership) joined the cologne based label klangfarbe schallplatten and created a high-quality ep, which is hard to find today. duplexer (a1) initially allocates with bongos in space, to furthermore stabilize itself with more bass, percussion and volume, which leads into a durable, massive flow that s willing to persist bigger club duties as well. alpha (b2) is structurized akin to duplexer, but celebrates the true force, the true might of minimal by the use of consistently repetition of beat- and sound patterns as also psychedelic acid-parts in good, old plastikman tradition. morning breeze on b2 finally starts warmer and more housy, in a deep and easy lean-back manner, to distinctly cool down after a while and to approach the previous tracks. after all, the from nowhere to somewhere ep constitutes an extremely coherent ep, where it s obvious, that all three tracks mate together - as they are

not much really needs to be said about a new release on mahogani music, especially since it involves contributions from some of detroits greats, including kenny dixon jr, anthony shakir, carl craig, and last but not least, the main man sherard ingram aka stingray. its a single lp which contains 12 tracks. a couple of shorter skits, but most pretty much full tracks. time to state the obvious.. !!attention!!!: this release contains some clicks , maybe not good enough for high fidelity fans... sound is raw and analog!!!

first on decks.de!!! >blast corps< opens the ep with a surge of delayed baseline. crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer beneath the full blooded base. it builds insistently, the 4/4 structure is infused with far off blips and the dusty sizzles of lowpitched white noise. on dark star warm dub keeps the sound organic. it’s elemental, the baseline seems enormous enough to have a gravity of its very own and the other elements pull together around its weight. it teases, the breathy elements twitch, fidget, become fully formed but refuse to drop. frank martiniq refuses the obvious, and opts for the discerning. this is the stuff of intrigue, as is the percussive opening to b2 >lovelane<. here a rattling, clattering sequence breaks out into a euphoric, syncopated structure. its dark, playful and danceable techno.

a collection of rare and very sought-after underground british disco, funk and soul tracks avoiding the obvious hits that have been on a million cdÆs already. many of these tracks never went beyond a very small local release but have since become very collectable - buying this lot would set you back somewhere in the four figures.
back street brit funk is the latest compilation from dave lee aka joey negro released on the z records label. the double disc album features highly collectable tracks from the late 70s through to the mid-80s with sleeve notes from soul weekender veteran mark webster.

jay haze aka fuckponys superb ode to love in general and loved-up ravers in particular provides us with another sparkling gem: the second single from his current lp has the equally romantic and revealing title >i m burning inside<. it allows us to clearly feel that love-fuelled power, but never lets us get close enough to the fire to get seriously burned. jays sound is simply a tad too cool for that. despite all the emotional appeal, he always keeps a wink in store to save us right at the brink. the remixers reboot and paul ritch give far more obvious signals. both of them say loud and clear: dance!

the mindless boogie folks bring us another edit bundle wich sidesteps the obvious.

the choice of anja schneider for remix duties was an obvious one, the pair first met on a shuttle bus to an event and in short stead paul was co-writing for anja, becoming part of the driving force behind her huge debut album ‘beyond the valley’, now she pulls out all the stops to reciprocate with this standout reworking.
first up on the package is the anja schneider remix of ‘three weeks’, the opening cut from paul’s recent album. here the pair, deconstruct the parts and rebuild things into a deep and hypnotic version that has instant dancefloor appeal stamped all over it. solid, chunky drums rub up against simple spacey synth lines and warm pads to huge effect. bearing in mind the superb quality of the original this is a job well done, and a real addition to this great package.
next we have the original of ‘three weeks’, a track named after the extensive time it took to record. paul had originally intended to record the album in 6-8 weeks, then ended up spending nearly half of his allocated time on this opener. but it has to be said it was worth the effort. this is a slice of solid tech inspired house with subtle vocal elements and a musicality that cuts through the records club based nature. excellent stuff.
finally we have diamant flute, another winner from the ‘me, myself and live’ album. deep and highly engaging this again displays paul outstanding talents as a producer, weaving melodic elements deep into the mix and retaining an incredible underground electronic sound.

the journey of a chillian sound influenced by a particular romanian flavor. this sounds wild! therefore, the material to follow will be focused on interesting work. pier bucci together with monochrome including the romanian artists livio & roby allying this time their third beloved partner george g, together they come out in a beautiful ep called, santiago de bucharest. what kind of connections can be found in these two culture background in the context of their own music expression? since last years south america represented a big influence in electronic music, with the latin vibes and soul! extremely obvious is that rumanian artists identify naturaly with latin influences as their common origins helped them easily to experience this into one and solid sound. despite of the latin common element which connect the artists, their soul and spirit it is expressed unique but different in their own particular way.

vertex is an exploration in two parts. the a sideÆs vertex and the locus of points explore the trackier side of tejadaÆs work meant mostly for vinyl play. both tracks make good use of strong wavetable chorded sounds, which are modulated throughout. the rhythms of the chords make up the identity of the track with elements coming in and out. vertex showcases a more layered approach to take the track from a percussive to a smooth feel. the locus of points follows more of a straight up techno approach sounding simple and effective. the b-side explores the more melodic and arrangement based side of tejadaÆs work. liquid mirror is a track rich in layers. 3 modular synth layers provide the initial modulating melodic ground work which is then complimented by lush tejada keyboard work bringing the song to itÆs apex and then reducing it back to itÆs start all while backed by tejadaÆs powerful drum work. p.l.l. (which stands for phase locked loop, a process explored here) continues this theme in a less obvious way. modular synths and drum tracks start things off while midway a modulating melodic phrase is introduced playing back a bit differently every time. four songs in all showcasing tejadaÆs simple and complex approach to dance music.

when he isnt busy touring and recording with various artists as a session drummer (most recently with one beyonce knowles) guillaume jambel aka giom djs and produces deep house music. with only a handful of releases and remixes under his belt on labels such as amenti music, black cherry, tango, eight tracks and aroma its obvious that he is eager not too to spread himself too thinly. this makes us even more privileged to get him onto ornate music. and he certainly doesnt disappoint on blue matter ep which kicks of with bring down the walls a deep house disco builder promoting us to... you guessed it bring down the walls. with a metro area style bass line, warm keys and popping percussion this is bound to make you do exactly thatàin fact it should probably come with a public health warning. i know you were right, probably not something we say very often but here giom says it like he means with a tough kick drum, sweet seductive female vocal, bubbling bassline and a whole heap of other good stuff thrown into the mixer. this phat slab of deep house will brighten up the cloudiest of days, have a listen im sure you ll agree. hailing from brighton c soul are magnus asberg (head honcho of on the house records) and jimmy day. they have appeared on labels such as diy discs, suspect package and have also collaborated with house music legend robert owens on german label plastic city. for c souls on the house remix of i know you were right they strip it right down to the bone and produce a haunting, electronic house music rework. you know we were right!
