chubby has already earned its stripes as a podcast and party in australia dealing in connoisseurs deep house, and their leap to the world of vinyl is no less classy. the first release splits a 12- between four esteemed practitioners of true skool beats for switched on heads, leading in with antipodean maestro ewan jansen. after delivering the plush tones of his -plants,- moods & grooves label boss mike grant pops up to remix jansen with stunning, understated results. trinidadian deep takes over on the b side with the typically shimmering melodics and dextrous drums he s much loved for. mr yt then serves up a final remix, nudging -move me- just a little up the energy scale with the help of a killer organ line placed at the front of the mix.

massive mix alert! -it s party time tonight!- - nyc mix maestro mike maurro has turned in a storming, 14+ minute version of patrick adams classic -weekend- by phreek, a true blue club classic from 1978 (later covered by class action, sampled by todd terry etc) -weekend- was an absolutely huge paradise garage staple getting unlimited spins from larry levan during the club s lifespan, the definition of a -garage- record indeed. maurro s new mix rearranges and deconstructs the original version with so much style, respect and feeling, using unheard synth vamps, string sections, percussions and breakdowns pushing it into a whole new direction while retaining the feel of the original mix. the track is already electric in it s original form but here mike maurro pushes the energy levels right through the roof, birthing a fresh new mix of a stone cold classic! on the b-side we have the low slung funk of the new birth s killer -deeper-, released in 77 as a single on promo 12- this cut gets the mm mix treatment, with the intro extended and the drums brought fully upfront in the mix mike has teased out all the best parts of the original arrangement while managing to stamp his always unique style on this new version. this midtempo groover is pure soul all the way, one for the serious dancers that keeps rolling itself along into one of the most solid, funkiest grooves ever! simply put, another set of essential mixes from a modern day master! file under - *essential disco*

alden tyrell hooked up with mike dunn for some new work!. a golden combination which already worked out great as we learned from the heavy remix tyrell did for the murphy jax & mike dunn collaboration (its the music - cat# cjfd06). tyrell always jamming and playing around with his synths had some tracks inspired by early mike dunn songs. so the obvious happened ... the hooked up for some appropiate vocals and here it is ... touch the sky! a peak time acid monster with mikes vocal chant in the style of his classic md3 projects. gerd is on remix duty here and delivers a killer remix with a more traditional chicago groove and build up. clone head honcho serge had some studio time with tyrell for a dub mix. the serge & tyrell dub mix turned out a bit wild and became a classic piece of piano and dx bass driven chicago house music with stuttering vocal samples and a acidic synth line. another strong clone jack for daze!

heavy stripped down killer berlin flavoured techno tracks berghain style! mr dehnert is slowly but steadily building a reputation as one of berlin s top techno producers!. after his massive release on clone things went up quickly with fachwerk label nights at berghain, shows at big festivals such as nature one, upcoming releases on deeply rooted house and clone, licenses by francois k, osunlade, the hyped md2 releases etc. not a bad start of 2010! fachwerk however will always be his home with uncompromising tracks that are designed for the dancefloor. big one!

mr dehnert delivering! after is succesfull releases on fachwerk and the first basement series release its time for another essential techno release by mike dehnert. after the little hype on the many blogs its another release that will create a stir. lautschrift is probably the sexiest masculine techno track we ve heard in a while! a wolf in sheep clothes. undercooled phat techno drive with a nice mellow vocoder voice, soft bleepy sounds and a deep sub-bass... and then slowly the sexy bassline becomes more and more dominant and energetic and the tracks turns into a killer. amazing track! regelschrift and nano are two heavy techno tracks from the neue berliner techno schule. just as we like it!

reissue - miraculously rare and seriously obscure killer dubs. one of the very few hard core seventies dub albums mixed by errol brown. a selection of solid dubs originally recorded in 1978 by bb seaton at duke reid s legendary treasure isle studio and mixed in-house by the duke s nephew errol brown. a radical departure for all concerned this bold dub album was never officially released although a few clandestine copies reputedly did the new york rounds at the time. mojo by david katz - extremely rare 1978 dub album stands up against any from that era - -errol brown began engineering through family connections, producer duke reid was his uncle. trained by the highly-skilled byron smith, chief engineer at reid s treasure isle facility, brown cut his teeth mixing alton ellis, the paragons, peter tosh and marcia griffiths. -orthodox dub- dates from 1978 when bb seaton of the gaylads was working closely with brown at treasure isle, cutting tracks with ken boothe and mikey dread along with self-produced work, and although only ever issued in tiny numbers as pre-release lp in the bronx, these dubs pack a mighty punch, easily on par with any of the dub sets issued in the era by channel one or joe gibbs. outstanding tracks include -roots rockas-, a stripped down cut of boothe s -who really cares-, and -black forest rock-, a bass-heavy reading of seaton s -is life-.-
