new project and new label from the creators of the fantastic 808 box, fundamental records. there are many details that make this project something really unique. these records will become classics if they are not already!. the music of every record is very special, also the artwork and the technic use to print each sleeve, but the concept behind this project something you need to understand, as you can read in the website everything is based in two factors: first, to provide the artist with complete anonymity in order to create in absolute freedom. second, to offer the listener the work of the artist without any external distortions. the use of words to describe or define music is a senseless task. most of the time the intention of descriptive text is not to shed light on the work of the artist, but rather to serve as a promotional tool to drive sales and increase recognition. this often has the unfortunate result of limiting the creator and his work. music is all we need, any other additives are completely dispensable.

warehouse find ! mjazz presents rawtrachs is a 17-minute ride of beats, bass, noise and rawness. there is an obvious influence of jungle break beats and a f**k off attitude to formulaic music. the music represents freedom from the formula, freedom from restrictions, and most of all the freedom to connect with the universe via intuitive experiments with sounds. this release is limited to 30 cassettes – the cassettes are blue in a yellow case with a handcrafted cover – each of these covers are different (no two covers are the same). the cassette cases are then packaged up in an extra case which is hand sprayed with the mjazz seal of approval – super limited handcrafted packaging! this music is unapologetic and unadulterated – no watered down for the masses business!

redstone press is a new label from the highlands of scotland born out of long nights on homegrown soundsystems pushing the uk scene, with a unique northern edge that comes from the freedom and isolation felt in that part of the world. red001 compromises of three eclectic bass-driven cuts from delphic producer pseudopolis. the a side pulls no punches, pointing you front left with arpeggiated synths on at last and artillery like percussion on tracer. we can all groove is a grittier but more subtle workout on the reverse.

trave is a play on words that mixes the concepts >trance< and >rave< to create a new term which essence is the union of filosofies of the words that create the term. trance and rave go by unwritren precepts that prevail in interpersonal relations and in the own purpose of the actions taken place by its flags: peace, respect, freedom and unity. this is exactly what regal tries to expose with his music.

after the success of closer to freedom in 2014, chicago legend dj jes returns to tardis records with the between the lines ep, featuring two lost tracks from his personal archives and a brand new offering. opener æno foolingÆ is reduced to the bare essentials until an elegant snatch of piano and spoken word sample break it down further, when the track kicks back in with a vengeance everyone in the room will know all about it, but it remains subtle enough to work the day after as well. on the flip, æbetween the linesÆ is tougher and dubbier and will do some serious peak-time damage, whilst new track lost is a cut-up banger for the floor and a perfect dj tool. all tracks have been meticulously edited and rearranged by label owners eli verveine and oscar schubaq in order to extend the grooves and maximise dance floor impact.

in 2016. i rented out a small piano studio in east london for nearly the whole year and set out to write an introspective, trendless, and mostly beatless album. inspired by albums from this mortal coil and scott walker, who also sought freedom to work outside of the expectations of their previous work, i limited the instrumentation to mostly an acoustic piano and effects, which left space to expose a lot of emotional vulnerabilities about myself and people close to me. writing lullabies about being a mother in a dystopian world, with pensive words about swimming against the current as a female artist, i felt free enough to tell untold truths that i’ve never felt comfortable talking about within music. free, liberated, empowered. naked.
