vinyl-only ep with tracks taken from debut album, discovery in the atomic garden - previously releasing as community corporation on argot and crisis urbana recordings. like changing the channel, changes in one�s life can suddenly bring about a new perspective. after moving from detroit to seattle, producer taylor hawkins suddenly found himself on flora fm. previously recording as community corporation, this fresh beginning in emerald city brought new sounds into hawkins� repertoire. where he was once surrounded by cheap boogie and disco records in detroit, seattle�s used bins were full of uk imports, early 90s ambient techno records and the idm that followed. these new influences injected judicious breakbeats and top notch electro sensibilities into his already adventurous midwest techno aesthetic. it�s as if his music has come alive, each song a new sound world abuzz with fluttering synths, nimble percussion, and soaring melodies. recorded as single live takes using an mpc to control his drum machines and synthesizers, the flora fm music flowed quickly from hawkins and needed only gentle edits. the eight tracks on his digital debut album, discovery in the atomic garden, document his experience finding his way in seattle and in life, all through the lens of a fantastic and somehow futuristic musical viewpoint. the vinyl-only ep atomic garden includes four of the album�s most danceable tracks, all wrapped in gorgeous artwork by patrick savile

propelled by pure state aesthetics, spatial theoretics and a fondness of ferns, neoprene (amongst several other musical monikers and permutations) has been crafting and perfecting outer-world electronics since 2011 through their highly slept-upon digital and cassette label ashtar communications. �possibility spaces� is their debut 12�, a collection of cherry picked tracks created in chicago during their barista residency of 2015 - heavy points of dark matter gliding across a delicate, semi-permeable surface of unidentified experience. where others simply trawl the tropes of a rave culture gone by, neoprene bends into the best assets of house, hardcore and breaks and pulls up through a dense fog of floral new age ambience, creating a one-of-a-kind approach to expository techno.

disco inflections and happiness-driven chanting begins this release. off-placed rhythms call one to move. listening and dancing, is what needed. such need is further pursued in a2. listen. move. �which of the waltzes� explores layering of sounds and is driven by shama joseph�s spontaneous vocal improvisation. while the rhythm swings, the vocals and piano maintain the warm harmonies. the final track is a broken rhythm expulsion. snippets of vocals and deeply resonating piano hints to what �which of the waltzes� could have sounded if further experimentation in sonic reductionism would have taken place.

varg marks the start of his expansive nordic flora series with four tracks of downcast euphoria, fitted with enough bump to make you mistake the smoke machine for a riot control agent.

relaxer returns with the second installment on their eponymous label. heavy, virulent and filled with longing, relaxer draws us further into the artist�s fascinating & unique world. side a�s �hissing flora� unspools organically over ten minutes, its melodic tendrils wrapping around a corroded vocal atop a heaving low end. on side b, �weekend� drifts through a beatless mist, with flickers of venomous voices and crumpling synths that shine through drawn shades. �climate of fear� snaps the listener out their uneasy rest with stomping percussion, overflowing arpeggiations and keening harmonies.

transmissions florales is massis first vinyl release. the density of the 808 drums reminds us this is synthetic from the start. but as the the swirling, phasing 7th chords and the crystal-like lead tones build up and blend with the laid-back wah-wah guitars, this simple song take us to some sensual, forgotten place with swaying limbs and flashing lights. with a few changes in structure and the timbre of the bass, the acid mix proposes an alternate scenario - gliding to the edge of madness with a wink at raving in the late 80s. are we in the disco? or at the seashore? keep on moving, keep on flying. bionic gulls call to each other over the oceans arpeggios. >alpha base< uses a similar synth palette, but with quite different results. rather than waves, this piece seems to evoke dramatic weather over a jagged terrain. the funky, syncopated bass and percussion remind us of some ancient tribal ceremony on parched soil. odd sound effects imitate the heat and sudden shots of lightning, while the ascending pentatonic breaks suggest a primitive electronic geisha, draped in mylar foil, deflecting the suns rays as she dances for the gods. she performs an intricate sequence of steps, each with its own placement and hidden meaning� having spent the past 2 years entertaining crowds at underground clubs in berlin and around the eu, massi is already somewhat known to those who enjoy dancing to whatever is eclectic, energetic, and atmospheric. now, perhaps more people will hear his special groove. we hope you share our joy, our obsession� and the particular oscillations from this very personal >transmission florale<
