most excellent unlimiteds series of 45s celebrating the 45th year of danny krivits career continues with a blast of two heavyweight cuts that, to borrow the parlance of the era from which they came, are bonafide sure shots. wood, brass & steels *funkanova* a jazz-funk masterpiece and loft classic that was liberally sampled in the house world (black science orchestra, terrence parker, the bucketheads), is pared down to its most joyous elements. from the intro, a typical krivit maestros detail of an opening bass slide prefacing hands-in-the-air cascades of iconic horns and keys, to the echo of the last notes, its a perfect edit immaculately tailored for dj usage. the flip delves deeper into new york city dance history with a rough and rugged beat- down of a proto-disco, b-boy classic: boobie knight & the universal ladys * sex*. displaying his usual knack of going straight for the jugular, krivit takes the songs siren-call-to-the-dance floor horn riff as his starting point, peeling off another layer to the floor-shaking bass and drums before bringing it all back to the top with a perfectly placed drum roll that will have flash disciples fiending for doubles. solidifying this blazing double-sider is the fact that neither of these essential cuts has ever appeared in seven-inch form. another most excellent unlimited sure shot!

inga mauer loves trains. -it s a fantastic chance to be nowhere-, she says. from cologne to clone is, in many ways, a celebration of this nomadic sense of existence. -i don t need a home, only a studio-, she confirms. recorded in a period when inga lived between cologne and rotterdam, home to the famed clone records shop (hence the title), the music on this ep is inspired both by the emptiness you suffer in futile non-places such as airports and the chasm you experiment in majestic scenarios as a russian forest. both by solitary travels and first encounters with machines you always wanted to touch like an 808. six tracks constructed with razor-sharp drum-machines, penetrating synth sequences and estranged vocals. raw sounds that capture the type of clairvoyance that one can only feel when in transit, far from the chains of our comfort zones. from cologne to clone is much more than a train journey. it s an introspective voyage to a beautifully warped soul. a reminder that, in fact, sometimes you only need your self-expression to feel at home.

rhythm büro is a new record label based out of kiev, ukraine started by dj and promoter igor glushko. the büro first began as a local party series organised by igor, alexander pavlenko (aka na nich, widely known in the drum�n�bass world as sunchase) and vera logdanidi (aka vero). since the party�s beginning in march 2015, rhythm büro has hosted such greats as zadig, abdulla rashim, etapp kyle, eric cloutier, woo york, artefakt, acronym, steve bicknell and actress all at different non-club warehouse-like locations around kiev. a peculiar aspect of the rhythm büro team�s objective has been to maintain secrecy about the exact location of the party until a day prior to the event, when ticket buyers are then informed about the location via text message or email. the label was started to be the logical and progressive extension to what rhythm büro has established itself to be locally: one of ukraine�s prominent techno initiatives. for the first release of the label, na nich and vero have contributed two joint-produced tracks that are to become their first publicly available material under their current aliases. while a1 leans itself to the soundscape that is more or less typical for rhythm büro parties: trippy, hypnotic and transportive techno, a2 hits the floor with refreshing zeal, bringing an electro-esque break-beat under deep and emotive synth layers. the b side contains two remixes of the title track, one of which is thoroughly tailored by the dutch-born-berlin-based-duo, artefakt (mostly known for their releases on delsin, prologue and field) as well as a strong and heady remix by semantica records� mastermind, svreca.

jonas friedlich, better known through mistress recordings and carl gari, releases his first solo 12- on molten moods. the versatile 4 track ep starts with the rather straight -bo s breakfast- that begins with a polyrhythmic 303 bass line leading into a catchy garage-ish chorus, kicking in out of a clear sky but fittingly. -bus driver- is a wicked trip, the combination of the long acid build up and a nicely chopped vocal bit is irresistible. a proven, tested (and molten moods certified) club banger, regardless of its rather untypical breakbeat. track number 3 called -praise your name- aces groove through perfectly cut vocal samples and a fancy reference to 90s hip hop and drum n bass aesthetics. the next and last piece on the record is the eponymous -deskjet-, which is inspired by friedlichs conceptual sound art installations using printers. here rather restrained synthie lines are underpinned by a powerful kick and psychedelic tape delay noises. the 12- vinyl is handstamped on both sides. mastered and cut by scape mastering. artwork by paul bernhard.

5 years knuggles recordings! *rising 2016* is deep and dubby balearic tech house. netto houz sampled their classic ladomat 2000 track *rising* to produce two versions of a floating and swirling monster, a late transatlantic descendant of electronic krautrock as well as tracky chicago house. the latter becomes evident when dj kriton reworks the drum parts in his jackin * rising beats*. get two copies of this 10th release on knuggles recordings and mix them from breaking dawn to bright morning sunlight!

a selection of four clubby reinterpretations of red on�s ambient hardware jam �ghana�. by marrying the eerie soundscapes and delicate melodies of the original recording with their particular style of drum work, a. elm, alex ketzer, the marx trukker and philipp roth push the original tracks into krauty techno and rough, dancefloor focused house music.

raam is back with a solid 4 tracker. the ep starts with ment which is a raw and jacking deep house track. a big rolling bassline, drum machine grooves and melancholy pads create that special house feeling. lipslide is a sublime and discoish house track with dubby chords and bubbly synths that slowly but surely unfolds into a serious groove that really work the floor. on the flip ment get some remix treatment from samo dj (lies, ttt, born free etc) and alexi3d. they transform the original in to gritty and percussive techno trip. the ep ends with ask which is a slow house-not-house track.

the ep entitled deceased unknown, a seemingly morbid piece of art (art/music) but look a little deeper! this ep sees b12 pick up the pace from their previous firescope release brokenunbroken �coduktor� an organ plays some subtle chords behind this track while beautiful drums skip along on top, to create a sonic backdrop for the very quirky melodies and top lines that constantly evolve and interpolate. a spiritual experience ? �dont look down� 808 and 909 drum and pads always a killer combination add to this an odd malformed bass line which never really reveals quite what it is doing makes for a pretty interesting track. don�t look down where is the question �blue and green capsule� a pumping kick drum sets the pace for this track which builds up using classic b12 style drums. the swirling pads and sliding melodies interlaced make this track reminiscent of �epillion� as featured on the classic b12 album �time tourist� on warp records in 1996. a track you can move your feet as well as your head to �minor decay� brain decay , world decay , urban decay , human decay , music decay, unavoidable decay - a simple straightforward techno track using its simplicity to conjure up feelings of sadness and thoughtfulness as well as joy and hope. a new hope finished in glorious red with black splatter vinyl with exclusive artwork by sarah sparkes

dennis ayler was first introduced to us via 22a earlier this year. he now returns on his own imprint dennis ayler music. his debut ep no comment gives the listener a chance to step into dennis aylers world, where drum machines play cards with electric guitars and lead synths do private strips for kicks.

we are happy to introduce our new artist audri. after a long time spent into music production, audri finally jumps into the music scene with his first release titled -coming from reality-. this record it s a work of labour, trying to escape from the usual default pattern, a perfect marriage with our label s concept. a 4 tracks ep, with techno sounds, deep emotional pads and real analogue drum machine such as roland tr 808 and mpc 2000 xl all mixed in a original and forefront way.

australian label nightime drama, run by peter fincher (aka vibrio) and shaun franklin (aka trebek) now serves up its second standout release of 2016. this four track affair comes hot on the heels of the last by yoshihiro arikawa, and is a second release on the label by aussie live act, dj and producer trinity, with steven tang and italian based andee on the remix. trinity has also released on ooc, coincidence and android muziq and regularly performs all round europe. his sound deep and cosmic, heady and hypnotic, as the fresh tracks here prove. cascade drive is seven minutes of direct and elastic house with spacey pads and driving drums carrying you through the cosmos. from the earthmothern label and one half of rk s, andee strips it back to a slick rubber kick drum then layers in a forceful acid line and icy hi hats to really get you under its spell. the longform groove is physical and cerebral in equal measure. the next original is expansion, and again finds trinity serving up a hi tech and soul infused deep techno sound that is lithe and liquid, smeared with great pads and truly timeless. emphasis boss steven tang is the perfect man to remix given his style, and his version flips the cut into a more heavyweight and banging techno effort, but one that is just as littered with sci fi sounds, spaceship trails and intergalactic energies.

when la label acid test decided to start the leftfield imprint, avenue 66, they looked to new jersey house mystic joey anderson for an opening salvo. he delivered the modern psych-dance masterpiece above the cherry moon. now andersons back again with more of his beguiling dreamlogic. on if one cares, they act different anderson works with a lead that could score an unsettling 80s horror flick, eventually introducing his signature quicksilver synths and abstract, jacking drum patterns. peace there starts with the square-wave basslines and raspy hats taking us to a psychedelic far away place. on the vase, anderson reins things in, but even his bittersweet, relatively straight-head deep house tracks present an odd paradox. his music so alien and human all at once.

drvg cvltvre (pinkman / viewlexx) returns to tutamen alongside label boss inca pax to form the second split 12� on the label. drvg cvltvre opens up in full space-age flight mode with �flock of starlings�, followed by the doom-laced beats of �watch the world go blind�.
on the flip, inca pax pushes the tempo above 130 bpm for a turbulent drum-assault in �get a copy of the deeds�, followed by a cut from the dubplate archives in the industrial echoes of �doldrums�.

catalogue number pp018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of rohtheaters plays. the track features all the typical obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (bravo!). we decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. the japanese duo mascaras (chida & 5ive) transformed wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. press play lift off. the b-side gives space to nick höppners epic techno groove. ecstasy evolving progress.

together melbourne pair amin payne and sean deans form apsd, and they debut in quite impressive form with this digital dust album for hot shot sounds. inkswel and benny badge s label has developed into the prime source for what they call -drum machine soul music- and apsd are a perfect fit. some 11 tracks deep, digital dust features contributions from the voice of fat freddy s drop himself, joe dukie, as well as miles bonny, cazeaux oslo, silent jay and more. yet it s deans and payne s innate mastery of a glistening brand of funk across various tempos which shines through on this album.

invisible, inc now brings the aptly named spacerocks into the fold with the release of a 6- track ep that comes storming in from the outer reaches of a galaxy light years away (or just decades past?) into the earpiece of your unwashed spacesuit. it s hard to pinpoint what genre this actually fits into but if you imagine vapourspace s gravitational arch of 10 as interpreted by vangelis with drum programming by nitzer ebb you d be getting reasonably close. other influences may well include cluster, conrad schnitzler, chris & cosey to name a few, while comparisons can be made to contemporaries like solyst, musiccargo, barnt and secret circuit. spacerocks is a solo offshoot project from higamos hogamos main man steve webster (also fort lauderdale, the black neon, memphis industries, dc recordings). the project sees steve ditch his band and strip things down to his modular, vintage and custom-built synthesizer set up alongside equally rare and vintage analogue drum machines, sequencers and fx units.

fideles is the joint moniker of italian duo daniele aprile and mario roberti, who have carved out a niche for their distinctive brand of deep, techy house on noted labels such as defected, be as one, and marco resmann�s upon you, among others. here on their first outing for poker flat recordings, the duo cook up four courses of lean, focussed tech-house for steve bug�s seminal imprint. �detuned� starts the journey - an edgy, tense groove exhibiting the boy�s masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere. �i�m rude� is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly evolving and mutating into a true party-starter. �worthy� uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether, revelling in a minimalist production aesthetic and cheeky bass riff. �ran baran�, the title track, is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem - which is exactly the response this entire ep aims to instigate on dancefloors.
