after the unanimous global acclaim of glass eights (dial lp 22), john roberts returns with fences, his second full length offering on hamburgs dial records. from elegantly dusted chamber pop and semi-psychedelic acoustic musings to turgid orchestral dance floor fillers, roberts creates a beautifully collaged symphony of recorded violins, cellos, cracked guitars, detuned pianos, faded samples, broken drum machines and manipulated answering machine cassettes.

scott mou, known as one half of the duo jane – the folk techno drone duo he had with panda bear - aswell as part of manhattans famous record store other music, debuts with his soloproject queens. johan jacobsen describes the wonderful music of queens in oxymorons, colorful monochrome, myopic depth, sad joy, driven slowness, enlightened darkness, universal intimacy, ethereal earthboundness ... as it should be. queens is one of those wonderful artists who are hard to catch on the fly, who escapes easy definition. his music is an unexpected and unimagined universe ready to be explored, and it s a universe that is wonderful to be in. when dial records david lieske and peter kersten listened to a performance of their new york based friend in 2009, it was one of those unforgettable unique experiences you only have once in a long while these days. the idea of releasing an album was born. the production of end times involved other labelmates such as phillip sollmann aka efdemin (recording), kassian troyer (mixing) and hendrik weber, who once joined a life performance on stage with scott mou in 2012.

i light another cigarette in the tittery the sparrow has landed. we have returned from our excursion to the modern and would like to share what we brought with you: some showtunes and a twelve tone row. the show, as it turns out to be, is our very own. we started out writing new material to perform on stage, after we had found out it was great fun to refrain our instrumentation to vocals, piano and bad acting. originally very attracted to the- as our label told us- very clandestine idea of releasing three 12inches with very limited playability for djs, we agreed not to ruin our dial friends and work on an album instead.

after firstly appearing on dials 2010 compilation, kassian troyer shows up with an adventure into wonderful sounddesigned technomusic. these four pieces of deeply grooving structures might r be influenced of early works by jan jelineks farben project, the swing of stl and the deep rooms of pole. that is no coincidence at all. kassian troyer who studied sound engineering and production has been responsible for the live mixing of stefan bethke aka pole and lots of other artists like andrew peckler and pantha du prince. while working on the mixing of efdemins chicago album he became related to dial records- his first demo tracks were an ingenious discovery for dials eccentric family.

one year after his debut album on dial records cofounder pawel is back with a surprisingly fantastic remix package. patrice scott the shooting star of detroits house scene drops a version of crillon which represents the magic sound of his beloved sistrum label. osunlade the one and only yoruba soul priest into house music is one of the big influences of pawel and his label mates. and he is deeply in love with the dial sound himself! offering a remix which is already now a bright star supported by house masters like little louie vega is a miracle to be true! last but not least john roberts comes up with a version of kramnik to raise the origin to another level. this tune is so sweet and special as if we all were waiting for it. happy new year has just begun..

since dial was established in 2000 there always has been the musical influence of isolee. from his first 12inches and his debut album >rest< on playhouse, rajko mueller was one main source of inspiration of all early dial artists- pantha du prince, efdemin, lawrence, carsten jost. more than that he became a lovely neighbour living close to the riverside of hamburg, a good friend whose pasta sauce would take a whole day to cook, and still a musician who would spend an extra long time to create his extraordinary pieces, drifting from version to version.

after his outstanding album debut christian naujoks is back withthe first of a 12 inch trilogy to be released on dial records. adoring the sound of pitched down pre-recorded strings dressed in deep, dub-styled echoes, east end boys is a song dedicated to to the raw and powerful sublimity of physical sounds. the song was created while naujoks was working on a live set for the akustic saloon at legendary berlin based berghain club in april 2009. overwhelmed by his flatmates live performance, lawrence decided to produce a remix of his favorite christian naujoks tune >bloom<, which appears on the flipside.
