stepback records launch with the first new thinktank material in many years!! danger at 300 fathoms ep combines styles from many genres, electro, house, techno, reggae, electronica all neatly produced and packaged to build an excellent first release for stepback records. its no surprise as thinktank aka colvin cruickshank has a strong background in writing and producing top quality music. his band snide rhythms has a cult following and his music with thinktank reveals the breath and diversity of colvins talents as a writer and producer. a side algae rhythms kicks off the ep. its a house focused club record with a quirkyness that defines thinktanks sound. meanwhile, w sludge on b1 packs more of a punch with its heavier kick drum, snares and a much more skanky feel. we round off with l ahrax point an uncomprimising club track. its badass electro but again with a deep twist that intrigues the listener and leaves you wanting to listen again and again.

slowciety approaches music with an open mind and brings different musical styles together. the young label is always in search of musical creativity, yet it doesn’t forget its strong attachment to dance floor energy. officially launched in february 2016, the label has since shaped its identity through podcasts mixed by a large roster of european artists. for their first release, orsery, clint and 6tizen, the three producers of slowciety, drop a various with strong deep house and techno sounds. a nervous journey shifting between melancholy sounds and dance floor beats, highlighted by a harsh and hypnotic remix by i:cube, versatile’s famous co-pilot and legend of the french underground scene.

the second release of girasole records is made by daniele temperilli. he released before on slapfunk records, quality vibe records, mlh and kakudo records. now on his own imprint girasole records with 4 housecuts. a1 is starting deep with a slower vibe. a2 is more energetic, but still has that lazy vibe. the b-side is more rough. b1 is a straight going track with a profound twist. b2 is the most rough and energetic tooltrack of the ep.

dark and irregular techno release, with deep bass, distorted rhythm and gloomy pads. lucy s remix is an insane revisitation with a phase war between loudness and rhythm. the original tracks by laertes (gianluca meloni already known as the second half of modern heads with dino sabatini) are focused on the deeper and mental dancefloor. limited to 300 copies on translucent coloured vinyl.

this ep s lead track comes in form of a deep dub techno aesthetic at an adequate 128 bpm while not neglecting warm and melodic elements. “box drop” stands in the tradition of höppner s interest in musical detail rather than blatant functionality: aside from his recognizable kick drums and basslines nick lays out plenty of harmonic layers and effects such as string arrangements, leading synth pads, now trickling then rotating sound patterns, making this cut as elegiac and frisky as it’s muscular and straightforward.

our favorite detroit producer and friend luke hess is back on echocord colour with a 3-track bomb. all tracks are super powerfull dubby spaced out techno with the typical luke hess feeling, deep and melodic. luke hess is a dj & producer from detroit. he has celebrated eps out on omar s fxhe, carl craigs planet-e, echocord, echocord colour, finale sessions, kontra- musik, & modelisme. his label deeplabs is the center for his own deeply personal projects.

the fourth participant in the gost instrument series is ivan erofeev hailing from siberia’s omsk. ivan was producing and releasing music as aleph for the last five years and this is the first ever record issued under his birth name. the author’s distinctive, monotonus yet liquid sound emerges in these two tracks - deep “h island” and polyrhythmic “sahiba”. framed with field recordings made by the man himself, this two-tracker is a hypnotic and atmospheric journey into ivan’s very own creative universe.

joining our label for the 4th release are dan andrei and kozo, under their collaboration named ak41, a fructuous project that offers three highly complex tracks.
on the a side you can find “icebreaker” solely, an eccentric sound with a steady bassline, percussive kicks, tripping shakers and a thoughtful, mysterious melody that touches all the frequencies of your body. turning to the b side we find “swingenious”, a groovier interpretation produced by a combination of spacey feelings and sophisticated instruments that will move every bone on the dancefloor. closing the ep is “in memoriam”, a melancholic version that is not short of an aggressive bassline, ambiguous vocals and deep introspects, all aligned to disconnect you from the reality of routine.

after last year’s massive “brainbox” album, de:tuned presents the 7th and final installment “unboxed brain” which contains 3 excellent re-interpretations by future/past (aka kirk degiorgio), mark broom and the black dog of selected tracks off the album and an exclusive new track by the future sound of london. yet again, mastered by matt colton (alchemy mastering) and related artwork by designer kevin foakes from openmind (aka strictly kev, dj food from ninja tune). both kirk degiorgio and mark broom rework b12’s “worlds end”. kirk degiorgio, who makes a rare appearance as future/past, increases the energy levels and turns the original into a dance floor bomb. broom’s version heals back to a more electro and breakbeat vibe by adding some deep ballsy and stretched out beats. on the flipside, scanner’s “eros” gets the black dog treatment. the illustrious uk outfit strips down the original into an eerie futuristic soundscape. lastly, the future sound of london brings us an intense piece of sound design: sit back and let the music take control, stay tuned!

super rhythm trax release their first record of 2017 and it’s a return for jared wilson who steps up with four tracks of deep acidic house music. these tracks burrow away and are certified ear-worms from the opening ‘getting that feeling’ with it’s warm bassline complimented by lush pads and on the other end of the scale, the sparse menace of ‘it’s the message’, it’s another great ep from the detroit acid don.

following on from casino times debut album familiar circles, wolf music enlist al zanders & moomin to remix their favourite cuts from the album. al zanders delivers a classy deep house version of carlotta while moomin throws a curveball with a drum n bass remix reminiscent of a classic ltj bukem track from the mid 90 s.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

49th floor s night passage was vibraphones first release back in 1992 and was written & produced by ttusor member, stefano curti. stefano recorded the music in his own living room in north london in a truly house music fashion. night passage is a very stylish elegant & seductive example of classy italian deep house music, which seems to stand very well the test of time sounding as good and as fascinating today as it did back in 1992. this release contains the analog re-mastered version of the original 4 tracks first released in 1992.
