poolside began as a recording project in a converted los angeles backyard pool house in early 2011, producing sunny tracks of subaquatic indie dance music in this makeshift recording studio. surfacing first in the form of a youtube video for the catchy track do you believe? poolside were soon gaining local and national attention, with djs like james murphy of lcd soundsystem, techno legend derrick may, and disco don todd terje spinning these tracks at events and a growing online following. throughout 2011 poolside continued making waves with a sound called daytime disco through tracks like their cover of neil youngs harvest moon and original tunes. in 2012 poolside worked on a remix for longtime disco punks the rapture and held fans over with a new single and video for a song called slow down as they prepared to release their debut album. that album, pacific standard time, was self-released in july of 2012. after the albums release, remixes for artists like matthew dear, little dragon and fools gold soon followed, as well as rehearsing and touring with a live band and doing dj sets around the world. as thoughts turned to a second album, poolside went on ice for a year to regroup, beginning to work in earnest on another album in the fall of 2016. while still revolving around the sunny, laid-back disco sound of pst, these sessions yielded the additions of up-tempo dance songs and more guitars, and generally more fleshed-out arrangements. poolside surprise released their second album heat in 2017. poolside have over 1.5 million monthly listeners on spotify and have fans all over the world. they are currently on tour as a live band.

scissor and thread is proud to present leland the debut album by francis harris. this long anticipated lp is a requiem to the artists father, released to coincide with the second anniversary of his passing. the album, harris most expansive work to date, features danish vocalist gry on three tracks including lostfound, the first single and video which was remixed by mathew herbert and debuted on pitchfork. also featured throughout are emil abramyan, whose poignant performance on cello evokes comparison to arthur russell, and greg paulus (no regular play/matthew dear band), whose improvisational free jazz inspired trumpet accents converse thoughtfully with harris own tonal melodies performed on piano and guitar. determined to produce electronic music with warmth and true dynamic range, harris recorded and mixed leland at jsm studios on an analog ssl and then enlisted legendary engineer joe lambert to master the project. leland has been featured on pitchfork, magnet, ghetto blaster, aol spinner, urb, mixmag, yourstru.ly, and the village voice, amongst many others. leland will be available in a limited edition triple lp set with free mp3 download!

klas henrik lindblad better known as sasse or freestyle man has been a friend of our label for many years and also released together with dorian for our raum musik compilation in 2005. soul sounds without any doubt still is one of his absolute masterpieces and he was never willing to do anything with it and just let it rest in peace until the idea came up to re release it for our label. usually we are not licensing or re releasing anything but sasse and especially this track of him definitely deserve it. as it is also our 20 years anniversary we got one of our key artists on board that has been playing the track again a lot recently and that also immediately liked the idea of remixing this track and this is the result now. we are happy to present you the original track of sasse plus two remixes by our dear friend ricardo villalobos and label head dorian paic together. enjoy !

lottus got this deep and old school flavour touch, driving and sweat at the same time, this one is for franck the highlight of his new ep,so no big words on this one. it s a lottus love affair here. air is a cosmic journey into franck s synthetic drum sounds, passing thru his famous space echo 201 made back in the days by roland..the machine got some natural errors and goes with the tape delay feelings.. it s all about movements and space rythms here.christal is using the famous 909 drum machine and 808 toms.. this one goes very deep into our mind with strange vocals wich franck got the secret to play with, it s a sentimental and emotionnal song, cute for some people but very relaxing after all to complete this ep.my name is was originaly out on franck s realtone records imprint. it came out with two different versions.the track received some good feedbacks and plays so far and our dear friend berlin based alexkid came back to us with his own edit and we definitly loved it but we were very busy with the releases.. this edit has been lost in our hard drives and now franck is more than happy to give it a new life.

with his 3rd album dear stranger, duesseldorf artist tg mauss appeared 2013 for the first time on berlins quality music label karaoke kalk. proving once more his skills in meshing up folk pop with electronic music, he left a big mark at hans nieswandt (whirlpool productions), who now throws the track ghosts into the club: a grooving funk bass played by levent canseven meets a rattling hi-hat and spacey soundeffects. mauss voice makes the disco ball and our dancing hearts pause for a moment, just to explode on the dance floor. thats what you call state-of-remix-art.
