label boss nachtbraker is finally making his solo debut on quartet series after a successful ep last year on heist recordings. widely known for exploring different sounds and angles with his productions, this record is the most club-orientated to date. intricate ghetto house with a slight french touch to straight up 4x4 with a pinch of jacking flavour would be an accurate description of this release. the use of 90s hip hop samples within this auditory concoction successfully highlights nachtbrakers excellent ear for detail and penchant for exciting, eclectic and downright weird changeovers. the main hitter taking over the full a side is the title track small towel people. an uplifting bass line accompanied by heated 909 percussion and a hypnotic thriving arp to seal the deal. on the flipside, youll find kippendijen on the b1. a heavyweight in the house category, some glimpses of early days jacking house and a little french touch on the filter. throw in a breakdown even houdini wouldnt be able to handle and youll find yourself putting this track on repeat. then when the needle hits the b2 groove, zomaar kicks off with an energetic mpc style breakbeat before morphing into a deep jam of lush chords and a thrusting 4x4 beat. the track closes after switching back to the first part of the record and ends in a sublimely deep and dubby breakbeat.

merveille & crosson return to visionquest this october with their second long player, entitled cerulean and featuring nine original compositions from the duo. 2012 saw the release of cesar merveille & ryan crossons critically acclaimed inaugural long player drm, seeing the pair veer their output into abstract realms and embrace a more eclectic left on centre production style. here five years later the pair return with their second album cerulean, again tipping the focus over to a modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract aesthetic, featuring collaborations with juliard trained classical pianist julien quinten, no regular play’s greg paulus on trumpet, wareika’s henrik raabe on guitar, yonathan levi on double bass, moritz baumgartner adding additional drum work and berlins signum saxophone quartet. across the ‘cerulean’ project merveille, crosson and all involved offer up an amalgamation of sounds and styles from the freeform jazz odyssey styles of even tides and nordic bummers to the ethereal ambience of intro (almost raw) and mcyh whilst subtly nodding towards their minimal roots with acid pal and qaudra. the pair also radiantly display their love for the new age modular synth style with arp and life in the 80s with intricately programmed, dynamic melodies throughout, all in all resulting in a truly unique and forward thinking project from an array of talents.

ernestas kaušylas aka brokenchord is a music producer and composer born and raised in utena, a small industrial town in lithuania. kaušylas was quickly picked up by black acre, releasing both a 7inch single and an ep, after an exclusive mix of his was aired on bbc radio one’s experimental showhosted mary anne hobbs in 2010.
endless transmissions is the brainchild of kaušylas who single handily (bar two tracks) wrote and performed the entire album. the only collaboration was with jazz drummer, augustas baronas , who he encouraged to play as mechanically as possible. the lp pays homage to creativity and the ability topush the limits of technology with the physicalness of a human body. kaušylas explains “machines that mimic human grooves is boring but the other way around it becomes quiet interesting”.

forty six knobs machine by unbroken dub is the first release from nikita zabelins label, resonance moscow. based in the russian capital, the label focuses on electronic music from towns and regions nationwide. unbroken dub is the stage-name of denis safiullin, well known to domestic audiences as a member of the hot wax team. that project comes from the industrial city of tyumen, sometimes called the hydrocarbon heart of russia. winter temperatures in the area can fall below 45c. denis is a long-standing aficionado of analog synths and continues to experiment with all manner of samples. those two trajectories produce a high level of originality, especially when he enlists the support of leading club figures from around the world. denis release for resonance moscow is excellent proof of this bold experimentation. all three tracks on forty six knobs machine use the rokton, an antique soviet drum synth.

materia ep is the second installment of ruhig s double ep, inaugurated with particles ep in january 2016. originally the records were supposed to be out in the same period, but due to problems with our ex-distribution, materia ep got postponed of few months. the release starts with the transcendent trento, respecting ruhig s tradition of broken beats idm deep techno leaning openers. consecutive cut the vector is a thumping mixtures of drones and heavyweight hihats designed with some attention for dancefloor. the slow-burner materia delivers some powerful mist-shrouded kicks on the b-side, that wraps up with sciame, a massive droning wave of electro wasps, which still keeps some classy chilled out elements somewhere in the background, behind the thunderous main drums. vinyl unfortunately left no space for the extra only digital track 1870, this last one is percussive retro-futuristic jam of psychedelic mouth arp and huge mallets drums. the track will be available for free download in the same period of the vinyl

space arts third single nous savons tout was released in 1978 on if records. their sound was similar to jarres early analog albums, but with the addition of real drums. dominique plays an arp odyssey, clavinet, eminent, and minimoog, maximizing their warm textures. roger plays the drums in an intricate fashion, influenced subtly by jazz fusion.

volume 2 pools more of demi s extensive network of friends and is truly a heavyweight mix of reworks that each shine in their own light. leading the charge is a masterful re-intepretation by one of the scene s truest artists in eric volta who came to be known to the masses thanks to his club smash hit love your illusion on no.19 records. volta completely flips fresh & made on its head with a sonic exploration that is typically understated yet full of tension. the mix glides through a range of emotions and helps expose pagues vocals in a new light and demonstrates once more the studio prowess this man has when he is given free reign to manifest his mind onto the mixing desk.

andre crom teams up with mysterious vocalist ségou to present an ep connecting electronica and tech house. the pack starts with andre s club mix, an intense arp-driven dancefloor burner, using heavily effected parts of the vocal to create a tripped out frenzy on the dancefloor. johannes brecht, one of 2015 s breakthrough artists thanks to his releases on labels like poker flat or diynamic, delivers a pristine remix in his very own jazz-house-electronica sound. the pack is completed by andre s -acoustronic- version, a melodic and melancholic song, fusing electronic and live instrumentation with ségou s haunting vocals.
