how the other half lives is a new label run by london-based portuguese dj and producer zntn. the label launches with on rushmore by the deadstock 33s and stopmakingme. the deadstock 33s - uk club legend justin robertson of lionrock and revtone fame, former hacienda resident and prolific producer over the years - combines forces with stopmakingme - the fabric/kill em all resident and bugged out! regular with recent productions on bang gang, codek and moshi moshi - for on rushmore and as you are. this marks their third collaboratory release, after an ep on tigersushi and single on gomma.

the aliens return with another anthem. there has been a lot of speculation as to who these bad men are, with most guesses being people who have released on the ssds label or other south londoners. some of the main guesses have been kromestar, coki, cotti, f-1, n-type, and kosha, but i am not convinced anyone actually knows who is in it.

following his two recent singles on scubas hotflush recordings, london based george fitzgerald is back with his much-anticipated third release and his debut for aus music. titled silhouette, the three-track ep includes two originals and a remix from american producer john roberts. fitzgerald once again manages to create a world in which garage, dubstep, house, r&b and a host of other musical influences happily co-exist. on silhouette hints of warm acid, layered oscillating synth lines, propulsive beats and fitzgeralds signature use of vocal samples make this a peak time affair, albeit an incredibly lush one. reset is eight minutes of forward thinking uk garage combined with the melodic sensibilities of detroit techno. for the silhouette remix, roberts develops a relentless broken groove, occasionally punctured by brief piano interludes that recall the sounds of his 2011 debut full-length on dial records, glass eights. a breathtaking remix that sounds like nothing else out there at the moment. in addition to silhouette, fitzgerald currently has remixes out for french house producer brawther on secretsundaze and uk bass artist throwing snow, as well as an upcoming ep on hotflush and a track on the labels recent compilation, back and 4th. this year will also bring the founding of man make music, a new label fitzgerald is starting with friends.

with u is the debut release by elusive producer holy other. following on from critically acclaimed records by balam acab, ooooo and how to dress well, with u is the fourth release on tri angle records. taking the alien kinetics of uk garage, the euphoric highs of vocal house and the slow, sensuality of r&b, holy other has created a sound that s as melancholy as it is beautiful, spectral and yet slightly at unease with itself. playing these five songs feels like a slow, solitary walk into the city night, lights flashing around you, muted where once they seemed to shine more brightly. with u was recorded in berlin, gothenburg and manchester, where holy other currently resides.
