for their 12th label anniversary, jazz & milk have decided to launch a new series called “twelve inch jams” in order to celebrate vinyl culture and the legendary 12&#8243,,, format! jams002 sounds the bell for the second round of the series including a 10 years re-issue of the classic sam irl cut “you don’t feel enough”. originally released as a b1 tune on his “african dance ep” debut on pulver records in 2007, this jazzy house gem found its way into the record bags of many influential djs over the years. from session victim, glenn astro, max graef to hodini… the record never disappeared in club sets but certainly from discogs a good while ago. so it was about time to give the tune a second life and finally press it on the format it deserves - a whole 12&#8243,,, side. the german production duo session victim are well-known fans of the track describing it as their secret weapon playing it in quite many dj sets for years, including their 2015 appearance for mixmag’s dj lab. hence, it is a great pleasure that session victim contributed a remix to the new release. their absolutely elegant and groove-driven version with a charming 90’s touch to it makes a brillant counterpart to the original with its jazzy piano-, drum- and double bass samples leading to an epic synth break that regularly causes ecstatic moments on the dancefloor.

poker flat label boss and genuine dance music legend steve bug teams up with langenberg for this excellent two track ep. langenberg has released an unfathomable number of dancefloor fillers under various monikers on labels such as drumpoet community, mule, ovum or styrax leaves and recently released his debut album central heated house on dessous. langenberg is also one half of the project ribn. chord cluster has summer anthem written all over deep yet euphoric, spacy yet danceable, and ultimately a deeply emotive piece of house music that will bring smiles to faces all year. the rhythm track is tight yet remains loose and funky, while the pads and synths dip into just the right amount of acid to keep the ravers lost in the moment. the teaze treads similar ground arpeggiated pulses lead the arrangement, while a chicago influenced groove brings a shuffle to proceedings the joy in the track is evident it s clear the guys were having a lot of fun in the studio.

forgot 001 is the debut release from london based record label forgot. the compilation is comprised of four tracks by four different artists: harry orso, aka ratomagoson, was last year picked up by gilles peterson’s future bubblers project and has gone on to drop a succession of well received releases on labels such as twosixtysix, polyop and tru thoughts. forgot residents hoffy and joe s both come from beat-making backgrounds while phillip russel aka pila boasts an impressive catalog of material online. since its release campaign launched earlier this year, the forgot 001 compilation has received a wealth of positive feedback from a number of revered and respected djs such as dom servini, adam scrimshire and david hanke aka renegades of jazz. the release gained considerable airplay during the summer: dom servini on soho radio, risha on radar radio, selassie tbc & amy frenchum on worldwide fm, toshio maatsura on tokyo moon and adam scrimshire on balamii radio.

rod malmok (aka rod from previous klockworks fame) kicks off the eponymous label with his debut-album back to square one.

ziúr is a female berlin-based producer and she’s bringing some future club industrial vibes to objects with her deeform ep. in 2015 she started ‘boo hoo’, a night dedicated to the queer community, along side joey hansom. bookings are inclusive, having female identifying and people of colour on the bill with a core friendly and accepting space for people to party. ziúr first made stirs when she remixed peaches “how you like my cut- from the totally nsfw but incredibly fun ‘rub’ lp. she then exploded on to the scene with her debut club vibe taiga ep on infinite machine earlier this year. ziúr has come a long way from her experimental noisy punk band ‘sissters’. punk vibes still run through the dark and bass-heavy sound of deeform ep though. her use of environmental noises, dogs barking and the like, are evocative of cityscapes and dimming lighting when the streets meet dusk. “my testing ground for my own music is when i work at a venue and i do a sound check,” she explains. “if people freak out, then i know that it’s a good track.”

this autumn, wah wah 45s are very proud to present their latest signing, an outfit who ve garnered huge praise from jools holland, are darlings of the guardian s music reviews pages, and have set festivals alight up and down the country with their unique melange of sounds. for a good few years, honeyfeet has been a conduit for the ideas and expressions of an exotic mixture of manchester based musicians. jazz? yes, some of that! folk? stick that in there! hip-hop? i thought you d never ask! someone once called it folk-hop and barrelhouse-pop, and that s just vague enough to make sense. it helps that they are fronted by ríoghnach connolly, real world s newest signing and -a remarkable singer and flautist who can ease from irish traditional influences to soul- (the guardian). this extraordinary band s debut single for wah wah 45s, sinner, was originally affectionately known as boingy squelch, after the unconventional sounds trombonist biff roxby used in his early demos. ríoghnach conveys the story of a woman who never intends on staying at home -chained to the sink- - -i may be a sinner, but i m not a slave-. in that way, the song is a rejection of outdated, traditional roles. since their previous album, 2013 s it s a good job i love you, keyboardist john ellis jumped on board as full-time member, bringing his unique musical presence. this enabled the development of a more texturally adventurous style, as witnessed with the dual atonal solo between himself and guitarist ellis davies on sinner. similarly, for their next lp, orange whip, engineer, bassist and spiritual guide lorien edwards makes his honeyfeet recording debut, so completing the -kitchen- of this very special band. sinner is released on limited 7- vinyl (100 copies only!) on october 20th and comes complete with a woozy, low slung club-friendly mix from former innocent sorcerer, polish dj and producer envee. the album, orange whip, will be released on wah wah 45s in the summer of 2018.

holy smokes batman! brand new label straight outta mcr here as esteemed clubnight house of wax launches a new, vinyl only imprint entitled jupiter s melody. what a coup for this debut release - the drop are a london based, 9-piece reggae band operating since 2009 and with a soundsystem informed mentality. fitting then that soundsystem operative, ukg legend and accalaimed bass music progressor djrum is enlisted on remix duties to take these uk reggae skankers into the club for some grooving 2-step business. felix manuel has a storied history across uk dance music, most notably through releases on the iconic 2nd drop records and a much lauded resident advisor mix. -looking to the sky- is that festival burner you wish you d have packed for the summer just gone. gliding in on waves of undulating bass, punctuated by a typical but none less arresting 2-step beat, the rastaman vox from the drop fit so well you won t actually believe it s a remix! deep, emotive and beautifully poised, its retroist in many ways but this only adds to the warm and welcoming nature of the track. the flip is more introspective, and in someways melancholic, but with a massively uplifted message. again, taken from a completely different og piece (check youtube for the drop s original vid), the vocal sits perfectly in another crisp and frenetic take on the ukg beat. this side builds slowly, with a defined song structure and lush musicality, never quite climaxing but simmering gently with a mindful glow. appearing out of nowhere and instantly having us climbing over each other to see what was playing, we expect this to be a big smash here in manchester over the coming months. if you ve felt something missing in your life since mj cole, zed bias and todd edwards last released summat, then you could do much worse than adding this to your collection! limited copies so get those orders in quick folks...

dylan cameron made his debut release in 2016 on the austin-based holodeck, which has made a lot of noise the last couple of years with releases by marie davison and s u r v i v e. the inifinte floor album set the stage for things to come and tru welcomes dylan to the stable with the dark and minimal purgatory ep. . purgatory features 3 dark and heavy techno cuts starting with dark sorcerer and leads into lost souls on the a-side and continues into the b-side with trojan horse, all weaving in sharp synths and shuffling rhythms not unlike some of dj rush’s or even jeff mills’ best productions. chicago meets detroit meets germany. all tracks meant for the floor and none that disappoint. celsius rounds out the ep with it’s minimal tech-house leanings with oscillating tones, making it a great beat track for layers or to be played in a minimal techno set.

the first record in the “nbn” series comes from fitz ambro$e – a tokyo based producer originally from cape breton island in remote eastern canada. with a slew of self-released cult classic albums and mix cds he steps up to make his vinyl debut with doe quarterz, a 14 track mini lp rooted in fitz’s love of 80’s soul and funk mixed with 90’s hip hop and r&b. stripped down intricate hip hop beats heavily layered with vocals, obscure samples and unpredictable drum progressions, doe quarterz sees fitz come with a uniquely modern sound respectful to its roots – melodic head nodding grooves busting with his original flavor.

hailing from richmond, virginia, dj aakmael s profile has steadily risen over the last decade thanks to his supremely classy deep house sounds. recent times have seen him release excellent material on the likes of freerange records, axe on wax, church and release sustain, and now he makes his debut on monologues records with two deep cuts. dahlin is a string-laden stomper while organik is more of a synth-driven jam with some of his exquisite trademark keys improvisation. leon revol returns to the label after his well-received embers ep to rework dahlin in wonderfully introspective, hazy style, while label boss ben gomori steps up for a chunked-up, darkly-tinged rework of organik .

für das wiener künstlerkollektiv sofa surfers steht seit seiner gründung 1997 die musikalische weiterentwicklung im mittelpunkt seines schaffens. seit ihrem debut -transit- bis zu ihrem neuesten album 20 loten die sofa surfers permanent die möglichkeiten von technologie einerseits und kollektivem spiel andererseits aus. 20 jahre bandgeschichte - das ist schon ein grund zum feiern. aber die sofa surfers haben zu ihrem jubiläum auch noch anderes vor: statt einem simplen -best of- hat man sich nämlich etwas ganz besonderes ausgedacht. neben neuen versionen einiger klassiker sind es vor allem die ganz neuen songs, die eine bislang ungeahnte fahrtrichtung vorgeben. dass sich die sofa surfers dabei dennoch stilistisch treu bleiben, ist ehrensache.

when we launched our digital imprint in 2013, one of our explicit reasons for doing so was to fund a vinyl label. it may have taken us four years to get to this point, but we’re finally here - fkofv001 is upon us. the debut fatkidonfire physical release sees new artists join our roster. taiko’s untitled grime has been blowing up the dances for a hot minute, championed by the likes of truth, spooky and many more. spooky even named the tune in his fact mag top ten most prized dubplates list! we linked taiko up with mancunian wordsmith skittles (currently smashing it with the levelz crew), and “don’t be stoopid” is the anthemic result. fkof fam and producer extraordinaire district adds an industrial grime-esque flavour to his remix for a killer one-two punch. the two producers collaborate, for the first time ever, on the b-side, entitled “yokai”. it’s a tune that demonstrates why we signed both musicians incredible atmospheres, depth and weight. beau at ten eight seven, as ever, has mastered the tunes to perfection. we’re proud of this release and, on first listen, we hope you’ll hear why...
