on the a-side we are treated to two slammin tracks, vodka & valium & bring it back are both the perfect mix between uk garage & house. studio wizard crackazat, last heard on our sub-label oneoffs, re-built the track into a piano driven house track infused with lots of melodies.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

rise of the sun on asbo records is another huge release from the stables young gun dj westy, incorporating everything we love about jungle music from the delayed vocal echoing through out to the tight drums & hard driving bass it does it all, add to that the great melody that pushes the whole track along & we have got one of our favourite tracks from the young producer this year……side 2 gives us natty dread & again the names in the title, westy doesnt fail to deliver here either, a great track with big vibez through out! receiving support from ray keith & dj chef.

after being released digitally only and really great support throughout all floors, tengue rec. decided to bring this disco-influenced bass driven house floor tool to all vinyl lovers and djs as well. so decide it yourself, pick it up and try it out!

klamauk 005 various artists release is coming with tracks from roman rauch in collaboration with his mate philta, spontanmusik head keinzweiter, tom ellis and florence based the clover. roman rauch, well known for his releases on philpot, tenderpark or quintessentials brings us with >gino< a slow and deep housebanger with a smooth bassline that unfolds into some vibes and funky monosynth jamming for a simultaneously laid back and upbeat experience. keinzweiter – >the stomp< is a laid back discoslammer, getting richer in sound untill the break where the strings come all down and make the track to a little symphony. tom ellis created with >got your back< a big groovemonster, wobbling in deep territories and shuffled percussions. closing it out, we have the clover with their track >whitening the cell<. a live played bassline, setting the stage for some expansive background synth work in the second half with some cutted microhouse elements. limited and numbered vinyls.

french producer kool vibes returns with a third offering on his own self titled label, continuing to mine that sound classically rooted in the early 90s east coast swing of new york and new jersey. vibes abound on > u got me< with the titular vocal hook leading a orchestra of bouncing percussive rhythms, spritely neon dipped keys and an infectious bassline thump, whilst > house music< shows kool vibe dipping into the sounds of vintage murk productions with equal aplomb

this vinyl release brings together first class remixes taken from the singles, the future is yours and good for the city - which features sam duckworth of get cape wear cape fly fame. first up on the a-side from solomuns diynamic crew is adriatique. the duo were big fans of the future is yours, featured it on the diynamic podcast and got in touch with the kraakers to say they would be up for remixing the song. the result is deep house heaven and a summer terrace stalwart. next up is portuguese disco don moullinexs take which lays down a classic disco style and vibe in the mix.

mole city is not in the tradition or deviating from the tradition – it is the tradition. after two decades of launching drums, guitars and pianos through the shifting interzones between harmony and chaos (moonlighting along the way with the likes of sleater-kinney, wild flag, elliott smith, built to spill and a long list of others), quasi are a genre of their own - they write songs in the style of quasi, and mole city is the quasi song book: parlour sing-alongs for the last century.

stephan schindler aka kryptic universe aka lockertmatik is a german electronic music producer with a preference for analogue gear. he has a distinct 90s techno and house sound signature without sounding dated or overnostalgic. after making waves on his own (vinyl only) lockertmatik imprint, he got full recognicition through his ep on shtum (uncanny valleys sublabel).

cover: hiss : 1292 - aetherius society epit was all unplanned : the duo even got its name after this first record got its mastering. hiss : 1292?s aetherius society ep is a powerful and passionate statement. the creative frenzy of two talented producers - one from switzerland 12?, the other one from the parisian suburbs 92? - stuck together in a studio in geneva, just a couple meters away from the roaring noise of a construction site. they ve been putting computers out of the picture, jamming on their machines, synths and effects, and thus creating both forward-thinking and retrofuturistic pieces of techno, with that special instant classic feel.

savvy watchers of the throne (of blood) first got acquainted with split secs (the los angeles based duo of alexandre mouracade of sonns fame and west coast house and disco stalwart tk disco) back in december of last year, when they brilliantly remixed waze & odysseys our world. or perhaps it was their incredible work for labels like pacific wizard foundation, jolly jams, or their own machine limited. with the joint ep, they officially join the tob family, and what an entrance!

marvin & valentino started a project called tambien in collaboration with munich based producer bartellow from munich. this is an official repress of the self promoted 12 inch that came out in spring 2012. three carefully selected tracks that got reinterpreted by the trio.

some more excellent modern house tracks from the north! boska with his second release on love od, and slowly gets a reputation for himself as a trustworthy provider of quality music on the post bass, nu-funky, what-is-the-new-name-for-house-music-this-week -circuit. did collaborations with studio barnhus, mental overdrive, asma maroof (nguzunguzu) attented the rbma, got picked by several cool festivals. boska is a name to watch for sure!

this time label boss jacek sienkiewicz goes under his alias reserved for club-oriented tracks, which is, well, recognition. we got accustomed to jaceks slight changes of style, or rather changes in his approach to music over the years, and this record is no exception: ditching his trademark, long, painstakingly elaborate and complex tunes in favor of probably the most straightforward, uplifting, fresh tracks in a long time.
