nice price deal !!! born near the french border and growing up in the 90’s, dirk lamprecht aka dml developed a strange but even more so strong interest in hardcore-techno. but this style quickly became too limited for him and he adopted the sound of detroit, carl craig, kenny larkin and robert hood became the most influencial artists for him. over the years he became affiliated with an even greater spectrum of musical influences, ranging from all sorts of electronic music to jazz and even world music. in addition he graduated as an audio engineer and started to perform as a live act in 2002. more knowledge consequently leads to a much more diverse way of producing own tracks. in 2007 dirk lamprecht made his debut under his alias >dml< on the legendary label harthouse. his productions range from tribalistic via hypnotic, with a hint of detroit under his real name and from a touch of minimal, through melodramatic to straight techno under his alias dml

coming hot off his rather expansive cognitive dissonance 2x12inch for love notes, and also an ep for axetrax, tape_hiss herein continues his impressive run. on jacob s ladder, the artist pushes his emotionally wrought sound over cooking percussion and bubbling acid undertones. maspeth ave is quite honestly the nastiest bassline we have heard on a deep house track in some time, sure to cause spontaneous bass face in the listener. life as an echo uses soaring chords and synths to prove its point, and forests of my mind finishes the ep off with a pitch bending chord that pushes the track right along. yet another extremely cohesive, emotionally charged effort from this artist.

for the seventeenth installment in the string of attic music releases, synthek (luca landolfi) comes up with a staggering ep that contains a lot of adventurous drum patterns, bold arrangements and swells of daring fx.
on the a side we find “loser”, which is a brave cut of spherical yet moody techno that uses a buldging percussion line and otherwordly fx to create an ominous vibe. “uneven mind” is an exotic cut with tough drum sounds that uses a hypnotic synth swell that cuts throughout to create an alarming atmosphere. french producer and concrete resident antigone comes up with an uplifting (eight minutes long) remix for “uneven mind” on the b side which is beautifully orchastrated throughout. “faithless” is a percussive cut with intense fx blips.

für das wiener künstlerkollektiv sofa surfers steht seit seiner gründung 1997 die musikalische weiterentwicklung im mittelpunkt seines schaffens. seit ihrem debut -transit- bis zu ihrem neuesten album 20 loten die sofa surfers permanent die möglichkeiten von technologie einerseits und kollektivem spiel andererseits aus. 20 jahre bandgeschichte - das ist schon ein grund zum feiern. aber die sofa surfers haben zu ihrem jubiläum auch noch anderes vor: statt einem simplen -best of- hat man sich nämlich etwas ganz besonderes ausgedacht. neben neuen versionen einiger klassiker sind es vor allem die ganz neuen songs, die eine bislang ungeahnte fahrtrichtung vorgeben. dass sich die sofa surfers dabei dennoch stilistisch treu bleiben, ist ehrensache.
