zipper is zemi17s second release on the bunker new york, and sees him expanding his musical palette considerably, in which his gamelan derived sound design pushes further out towards the expanses of techno s realm. zipper is the product of years of work. the tracks on this record began as field recordings taken from indonesia insect sounds, gamelan, found sounds, says kuffner. each of these tracks comes from a different stage of my music-writing process over the years. i eventually developed a kind of sketch and improv technique, re-arranging groupings and arrangements of a series of elements. zipper reflects a culmination of this technique, and in my opinion, its representative of some of my best work

during their european tour earlier this year, canadian duo jokers of the scene stopped over for a couple of days at club bizarre studio in northern france. the two pair of producers locked up and came up with betaville and breakwater, two killer lo-fi and spaced out tracks. betaville is a fuzzy dream that will make you dance in slow motion with your head in the clouds. boasting a strong melodic and nostalgic feel, it unfolds its warm analog synth pads, old school sequences and drum machine to psychedelic effect. imagine boards of canada wanting to make you dance. even slower is breakwater, a dirtier, chunkier track that ditches the softness of betaville in favour of a more in your face bass line and all together rougher attitude. it chugs along to old fashioned beat box claps and percussion and quirky synth melodies. lastly betaville gets the timothy j fairplay treatment of being violently pulled apart and chucked in all corners. reminiscent of early chemical brothers music, a heavy beat slaps over agressive drugged up analog sound effects while a repetitive, haunting melody screams on top and reverberated vocals whisper in your ears. scary.

following his uplifting 2015 single holdin on and its techy b-side faces, rony seikaly is back for another release on yoshitoshi that proves this renaissance man is a force to be reckoned with in modern house music. the two tracks on this ep possess deep grooves, but also flex a fair amount of melodic muscle. they liken back to the sound yoshitoshi became well known for in its infancy. the sword centers around some tribal percussion and carefully woven melodic ideas, but the track?s focus is decidedly on low end. a burly, assertive bass gives the mix a driving character suited for late nights. at time it feels like a modern take on progressive house from another era. all of a sudden is more or less an extension of the first track, giving the ep defined consistency. it s a delicately arranged and straightforward house feeler, the meat coming from a multitude of interlaced chords and melodies maneuvering carefully over more tribal percussion and a monstrous kick. the mission here is to inspire awe and wonder in dancers, and seikaly delivers on both accounts.

a key artist in the shaping of electronic music, dan curtin has explored many styles in his career and now he has come full circle. the hardware repopulates the studio, bringing with it the inventive, organic techno sound he is most fondly known for, this time with a modern twist. these tracks take you to the heart of the man and are some of his best work.

the second installment of almost there series is signed by edanticonf and starts with a six minutes ambient journey dedicated to the memory of max_m. a luminescent constellation where bleeps and sweet arpeggios saturate the atmosphere. the other two tracks presented on this ep describe the typical sound of the italian producer: mellow grooves, organic melodies, slow progression and smooth hypnotic dynamics realized using a full analog setup.

stuttgarts motor city drum ensemble (aka danillo plessow aka inverse cinematics),presents a superb ep of deep house taking its cues from berlin and detroit. 2008 was a great year for motor city drum ensemble releasing parts one and two of the highly acclaimed raw cuts series which featured heavily in many best of 2008 house music charts. he finished the year with an excellent resident advisor podcast and a set at the resident advisor christmas party. his ‘get slapped up’ release on compost black and ‘breath control’ release on his own four roses label have been in the boxes of taste maker djs and seen him become an in demand producer. danillo is also a part of the inverse cinematics production team who have released on pulver, fuid ounce showcasing his more jazzy, broken beat production style. this debut 2020 release features three superb tracks that take their inspiration from the likes of theo parrish and carl craig as well as the deep house sound of berlin, yet retain the signature mcde sound.

walter gas ep from marcos coya is the first release of gas grabaciones, vinyl-only label from the small south american country uruguay. contains two original tracks and a blasting electro-techno remix from argentinian artist franco cinelli aka psynote. analog machines were used on making this tracks and an excelent mastering work, ensuring great sound at playing it. it’s a 300 limited copies release, with cover art from uruguaian artist carlos paez vilaro.

this instrumental hip-hop 45 is an ode to the love of jazz fusion and that dusty sound with a handful of tracks recorded from 2013/2015. both of the tracks love fusion & floating were made over the course of three epic days locked in the studio on the mpc 2500. as simiah tells it, “diamonds for me was basically the tipping point to where i could rock new grooves. it was like i had made another mistake, but it was a step in the right direction. new chops and new vibes.”  the cover art is by j byles with the layout by bee. full colour artwork in a sleeve with spine

the latest release from the swiss duo larytta, entitled jura libre, is a chunky, massive, intelligent, colorful (in that full on tropical way) four-song collection of club bangers. to be exact the full set actually consists of two original songs with an in-house larytta remix a piece. the originals lean on pronounced inflections of playful, tricky, afro-tropical rhythms, while the reworks go for a more direct four-to-the-floor approach straight for the jugular. apart from the vibrant, tight production what unifies all of these tracks is a head nod towards that nineties club sound, especially that golden age acid rave material. this is music made not only by great producers, but heads that really know and love clubbing culture and history and know how to tastefully reference the past. the ep closes with bota mao pra encima which features brazilian emcee junior, and thats the point at which you start to question if this ep was truly cut in switzerland.

mike ash returns to super rhythm trax after providing the very first release and gives us 4 authentic and acidic warehouse smashers. mike ash may be familiar from early releases on moving shadow and rising high records under a variety of pseudonyms in the early 90s but in the last 10 years has become synonymous with releasing mind blowing and true electro under his own name. when he turns his hand to acid house, the results mirror the high quality and his no nonsense approach shines through having lived and breathed the music and culture back when it was exploding in the late 80s and early 90s. in his own words i tried to keep with the original 1988/1989 vibe. i didnt use any synths / sounds / samples that weren t available past 1990. its all juno / sh-101 / 303 / jupiter / 808 / 909 / 707 / 606 and samples from the beats breaks & scratches vol 1&2inch the tracks exude a raw and strangled soul and are a bold and comfortingly honest take on the warehouse and pirate radio sound of the uk.

ostgut ton reissues acht of zehn with original tracks by din (aka efdemin and marcel fengler), fiedel and tobias. 2015 marked ostgut tons ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled ostgut ton | zehn, spread out over ten 12inch vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. this sampler sold out in no time, which is why ostgut ton is re-issuing these ten 12inches individually in 2016. bubbling synths, a stoic bassdrum, some live hi-hat percussion and synth pads full of bliss – what started as marcel fengler’s and efdemins inaugural collaboration as din for 2013s masse ballet sees its continuation in form of mono on a1. on a2 fiedel contrasts the opening tracks cool sounds with an upbeat contribution: probe-806 gently brushes funk, electro, acid and even boogie territory atop the general muscular rhythm. analogue synth aficionados are being served by tobias.: like a drug is a minimalist techno track with maximalist dancefloor effect through its use of haunting, distanced vocal fragments, discomforting alarm tones and crackling background textures. as with every good drug, you dont necessarily want more of it, but rather a longer duration of effect (in this tracks case: 8:36 minutes).

when kellerkind published his first tracks on sirion records in 2008, nobody ever considered the success story of marco biagini s alter ego. eight years later he looks back on numerous releases, among others on stil vor talent, flash, katermukke or hive audio. his record debut on sirion in 2012 another breakthrough, with special mention required for the title song “disco on the dancefloor”. it’s with this song that kellerkind has definitely won the hearts of his audience and thus left a lasting aftertaste which continues until today. his fourth ep on sirion with the promising title “way out” builds up on the 2010 published “altro mondo ep”. three reduced techhouse tracks promising pure dancefloor feeling with finely assorted forward directional sound elements and smooth deepness. the slightly hypnotic vocal smasher in christian nielsen remix carries nicely with the three tracks in every way and completes the catalog number 42 elegantly.

we are very proud to announce that we have signed arovane aka uwe zahn for echocord. uwe is in our world a legend within the electronic music scene. he started to do releases on the old berlin labels din and city-centre-offices. he is known for being one of the best producers ever within the idm & electronica scene. back in the 90’s he listened to the music of basic channel, maurizio and fluxion a lot. this sound is timeless. in the summer of 2015 he started to record a couple of dub sounds and beats beside his collaboration work and the production of his new album. he talked to fluxion and told him about the growing project. he liked the tracks very much and connected it with echocord and the modul ep was born.

contemplative, but never melancholic, rather with a positive mood, the tracks diffuse an overwhelming lightness and radiate a lighthearted happiness, which are manifested on an incredibly emotional and spiritual level. with the simple and classic black and white artwork the two releases from sahraoui balance eachother like yin und and yang. the second part of the eternal life ep has a very different background than the first ep. it is the white yang of these two natural opposites, contrary forces that are interconnected and interdependent. the record is significantly calmer, less clubby and references the beginnings of the detroit sound

the force known as 33.10.3402 has built a cult following in certain circles through the years with his adventerous production approach and execution. with numerous releases on labels such as esp institute, kunstkopf, and most recently second circle we now see his appearence for the first time on l.i.e.s. 33.10.3402 perfectly balances his sound and presentation with this three track effort where we hear tones and rhythms that can go from baleric to metal beat in the blink of an eye. with looming clouds clearing for the light of day and then back again, these tracks sonically play with the emotions and serve equally as dancefloor cuts or for home listening bugout sessions.

otake 007 is the debut from the born new polish project id ensemble. the release is called hollow ep and is authored by filip kaczmarek, self taught musician with technological attention to detail. it is one of few projects which filip runs in parallel although this one is heavily influenced by berlin sound exports. it was created as an expression of the need to break from the pattern, escape from the trademark. there are four tracks on the ep which are inspired by some detroit and berlin sounds, thus still having some special polish touch.

terence fixmer his known in the late 90s , early 2000s as the creator of the tbm, described as techno body music. a mixture of the ebm soundscape with the modernity of techno. his muscle machine album (including tracks lile electrostatic, body pressure) released in 2001 became a reference of the genre. in 2003, musician terence fixmer and legendary singer from cultissism band nitzer ebb, douglas j mccarthy embarked on a project that spearheaded the fusion of techno and ebm. they named it fixmer/mccarthy and they were the precursor to a new breed of techno artists that manage to traverse between an array of scene specific genres without being tied to any. since releasing their first album, >between the devil<, in 2003 terence and douglas have ridden the line between pure techno and the recognizable song structure of classic electronic music and ebm. now, with over 13 years working together for this project and playing around the world, they return to their signature raw sound and delivery. >so many lies< is quintessential and brooding techno, while the instinct mix epitomizes their ability to craft a catchy bubbling baseline whilst all the while dispatching cold steel aggression.

next in line to work with underground imprint getme! is uk artist nicky otter, with gme012: i can t really explain (it), a two track release out on 14th march across vinyl and digital platforms. across the ep, nicky ventures between parameters of ambient electronica and big, bad club tracks. nickys outsider sound find its perfect home on london s getme! label, both artist and label undefinable by genre, shape or sound. a-side i can t really explain (it) is a straight call for the dance floor for those after sounds on a more house and garage tip. originally trained as a drummer, nickys percussive talent shines across this bassy number, complete with creeping melody and layered vocal samples for a track nodding to club edits from a nostalgic time gone by. moving into murkier territories, b-side sketch original slow is journey through the darker strains of electronica, hazy techno feels and euphoric ambient vibes. dreamy melodies and carefully mapped out drum patterns meet here, giving sketch original slow an other-worldly feel.

when we started heist a few years back, our idea was to give a stage to talent in a same way as we have had a helping hand by the labels that have supported us from the beginning. therefore, i’s our pleasure to share this release with you by newcomers ouer, a berlin based duo with only a handful of tracks out so far on their self released debut last year. their approach to producing is very much jam based, and with a compact collection of synths, drum machines and a fair level of distortion, they succeed in creating their own sound with hints of classic electronic music from chicago and detroit. theres a nice mix of energy on the whole ep, the ascent being the most driving track of the package. fans of classics mcde tracks will love show off with its dreamy dx7 style chords and cracking acid lines. move over feels like a jam session that was way too much fun with some lovely solo work on the synths, whereas mess around goes down in similar free-ride style on the synths and again, has some lovely sampling going on. an impressive ep were just all too happy to have on our label. sincerely yours, lars & maarten

two tracks from a brand new (second in a row) ep by warsaw-based duo tumult hands fully illustrate paradoxical approach of jacek sienkiewicz and jurek przeździecki to the creation of a common integrated form. spontaneous compositional decisions and minute sound interventions are contrasted here with a persistent precision of rhythms generated by both musicians in a reality of an inter-studio space, in moments of an encounter, sometimes, fully controlled collision, of two worlds. full of inner rigour and logic (record is a prime example of modern functionalist music), although teeming with fantasy and flourish, tumult hands current explorations also announce duos full-length lp, soon to be released through recognition records.

the first release features two original tracks and one remix. back home in itself opens up with emotions and feelings of mysterious dark atmosphere that won t leave you indifferent as a listener or a dj. field of dreams is brimming with various textures that form strange feelings but at the same time delivering a clear message. the remix on side a sounds very precise and sophisticated. the minimalistic groove of the entire track forces your feet to move.
