new kid felix leifur made quiet a stir with his debut release on dirt crew last year. the icelandic juggernaut comes from the striving reykjavik music scene and is working closely with the lagaffe tales guys on building a new northern house empire. since his debut hes been working hard on creating a more varied vision of his unique lo slung hip hop approach to house music. with this ep he offers six new outings that have one thing in common, very warm and moody sounds ranging from disco through jazz and hip hop. were certain that he will continue to further cement his name in the coming years and were looking forward to working with him on plenty of exciting projects. opening with eyelids, felix delivers a rough, deep and dark house cut with broken beats, warped piano loops and twisted sampling throughout. classy has a smoky jazz feeling, kept tight with clever beat programming while evolving around a catchy sax motif. our personal fav is the title track, in general, a stunning broken beat house jam, smooth and loose, with swirling keys and a funk flavoured bass. the b-side begins with midwinter, a dance floor gem on a straight up junket. its deep, forward moving and bass driven, much like his track feels like that featured on our deep love compilation in 2016. yet another highlight for us is apollo, theres not many records out there that sound quite like this, thoroughly warped and contorted, depraved strings and a hypnotising rhodes arc and strain until the bass drops and it all falls in place psychedelic beauty! he closes with mine, a dope lo fi hip hop beat that casually wraps our ears, an ice cold soul infused piece.

alex falk first showed up on our radar back in 2013 when his terse ep dropped on tennessee-based label proper trax. that record – specifically -ptr-, which we pitched way down and turned way up – was a regular fixture on our platters, so we were stoked when the man in knoxville got in touch with these groove-heavy, stripped-back floor fillers that now make up the anjuna ep.

the national park of saxon switzerland in eastern germany, south-east of dresden offers endless ways to have a great hiking journey. the 93km region between pirna and the czech border is one of the most beautiful landscapes in europe. more than 700 summits are available to rock climbers, while for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, there are 400 km² of marked hiking-trails, steep treks, paths and some cycle routes through the national park. in this area, called the erz mountains, we found our beautiful cover stone with a typical ore layer inside.

returning to kompakt after his quirky label debut mission to bars (kompakt 347), transcendental house music producer clarian resumes his search for mesmerizing soundscapes with a surreal hue on the ankh ep. three new tracks continue the spaceman chronicles, with the last ep’s protagonist embarking on a grander adventure than ever before – our unfortunate hero, who initially got stuck in a bar on a strange planet, now intends to travel to the outer rim of the known cosmos in a desperate bid to stop the ancient evil army of the space zombie lizard kings.

entering our 10 year, huntleys + palmers introduces new label, belters! we kick things off with help from old friends as we welcome back edinburgh-based duo, hi & saberhägen who are on a return to form following their earlier outing on h+p. since then, they ve been doing the damage on anthony naples proibito label, permanent vacation and yume. earning support by the likes of bufo, joy o and four tet along the way. they kick things up a notch with this release demonstrating their full range - ambient, melodic techno and beach party ready house.

adam port and jimpster have had a special kind of ‘virtual’ relationship the last few years with a mutual respect for each others productions and output of their respective labels. keinemusik, which adam runs alongside rampa, &me and reznik, has grown into one of the most consistent and hottest out there right now with every release creating a big splash and bringing magic to so many dancefloors around the world. adam recently remixed jimpster’s eel pie island to devastating effect bringing his own deep, late night atmospherics to the original and creating one of 2016’s underground hits in the process. so now we’re very pleased to welcome adam port (alongside legendary uk artists stereo mc’s) for a full release on freerange in the form of changes. opening the release we have adam’s own remix which sets the tone with a subtle and gently building groove providing the perfect backdrop for the stereo mc’s esoteric vocal. this lesson in restraint shows why adam’s productions work so well on big systems, letting all the focus shine firmly on the vocal creating an intense atmosphere with not a single huge breakdown in sight! next up we have the original of changes which takes a more electro approach with a simple bassline and crisp hats and once again allowing the vocal space to take centre stage for a deep and memorable track with a message. finally we have a remix from our own jimpster opts to push in a completely different direction. shuffling up the groove and laying down a repeating rhodes riff we’re treated to an altogether more soulful and less stark version making the perfect compliment to the the package. this one makes us think of his remix of osunlade’s momma’s groove which is no bad thing we feel! enjoy!

raum musik 100 is coming from edgardo alonso better known as sakro. he is hailing from mexico and we have been following his work for quite some time now. therefor we are quite happy that we finally found the perfect match of tracks to put this single together. the title track of the ep „no time to explain“ already attracted a lot of attention during the summer when a handful of djs that were lucky enough to already have it, have been dropping the tune on some bigger stages and festivals and it quickly became a sought after track. we are very happy about our 100th release and as always we hope you enjoy the music as much as we do. cheers and happy birthday raum !

repress! when three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record on first listen. when isolée sent his -mangroove- ep to maeve, this was in fact what happened. but it is isolée after all.... mangroove came about last summer when the drifter happened to catch isolée s live set at a festival in switzerland. instantly blown away by the a side -pisco- he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. after chatting, isolée suggested that he would send -pisco- along with a couple of other -demos- to maeve and a few days later the ep was happening. isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do, thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work. this three track ep shows several different sides of the frankfurt native, from the a-side dance floor catalyst that is -pisco- to the deeper dubbier b-sides of -l5 syndrome- and -mangrove-. this is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.

seige monstracity is an anomaly in the music industry. he rides the fence, providing the contemporary soundtracks for successful commercial artists such as yg, tyrese, keisha cole, and marsha ambrosius, as well as producing grimey backdrops for underground artists like bizarre, bad lucc, and namebrand.
this is a collection of the latter. seige’s debut lp contains 12 incredible doses of heavy beats, chopped up breaks, and obliterated samples. a detroit transplant in los angeles, both cities are omnipresent at all times on the lp.

we are super excited about this rob hes s this release on tronic. -the solution- is without a doubt one of our biggest tracks in a while. it features a hypnotic musical hook that devastate the dance floors every time. early feedback has been amazing so far. for the two other tracks rob collaborated with up and coming laat, and patrik berg. -beloved- is a simple yet powerful groover. and -my moog- has a twisted moog bassline and is a great track for the morning hours.
