ironic? no, it’s dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldn’t really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which she’s been doing since her childhood in the 1980s — singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (”maria magdalena“). if she hadn’t met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sally’s passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice he’d only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. it’s a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.

royal bangs are from knoxville. that in itself is a statement: theres not much that comes from knoxville, tennessees third largest city, and even less that gets away. quentin tarantino made it out, but the last citys mayor was allegedly so desperate to escape he now works as the us ambassador in poland. cormac mccarthy moved there as a child, of course, but by the time he d written his second book he was long gone. only johnny knoxville advertises his geographical roots, and quite clearly hes a glutton for punishment. so while just one of royal bangs currently has a passport, that doesnt mean they dont know that royal bangs is their ticket out of town.

this release offers 3 more tracks of quality techno! this time on the original mix angelo pomposo and tad g. dish out a track inspired by the murena, a fish infamous for its lethal venom. la murena starts in a deceivingly quite fashion, when, a couple of minutes into the track, the subtle background sounds take over with a mighty sting. by now more percussions add to the relentless groove. at the end just when you think it is calming down, a dark pad appears from nowhere bringing you in to the closing beats. all in all a track for every dj in search of good quality and effective dance floor productions. flavio folco and stewart walker take in charge of remixes! flavio folco s one is a deeper excursion into the dark side of tech-house, able to satisfy demanding customers with a good blend of dance floor oriented music. stewart walker s remix completes in great style the proceedings. while leaving behind his softer side he retains his own unmistakeable imprint with an excellent job, very much in tune with freshfood style! have fun!

munich man dario zenker is back again for his second vakant ep following 2008s >sam und er/womde!< (va019). still fresh faced and just as hungry, dario continues to bring the bavarian goods to our freaky masses. a side -would be nice- makes more twists and turns than a sausage factory while consistently pumping out the mystery meat thick and juicy. if you want freak, thump, space, expanse, its all here. b1 -blue champa- is perhaps more on the vegetarian tip: light, nutritious, guilt free and always leaving you a little hungry. fun and bouncy, -blue champa- easily proves that you dont need to eat meat to get phat. at b2 position you will find -while rain gets air-. we have no idea what dario means here but if you were asking yourself >wheres that track on this vakant record that wont let close my eyes at night cause i heard this track at 7am and im still a little freaked out,< this is it. listeners beware

talking about the dawn, who know is better than lexy and nobody is more gifted to transport this feeling into a track. new day dawning a subtile flowing track, perfectly suited to welcome the next morning, again and again and again..the crazy, weird and nuts duck is circleing on the river of minimal straight forward sound, disguised as the psychoduck. watch out for the upcoming remix package of new day dawning, its gonna be huge. lets speak a little bit more about the artist. since lexy moved to berlin 1997 he was getting more and more popular as a dj. today lexy is dj, producer (lexy & k-paul), faschion addicted and a graphical wizard. what he likes best: rock the crowd as you will probably notice when you listen to this tremendous record

the westbay family spreads its musical wings on the fifth release for their international label. signing up renegade hardware front man, loxy, whos teamed up with one of hungarys finest exports, matt u, to create a full on modern jungle smacker! jumanji is all about the tribal beats and incessant bassline that grabs you by the balls and doesnt let go. on the flip matt u goes solo with charger, full of moody breakbeat pressure that adds another flavour to the westbay palette.

because of the keen idea to have at least 3 good releases within the first 10 records, it was clear that nobody else but phillip lauer would be able to sort this out on brontosaurus 10. so after #1 & #5 here is # 10 from the man. set your clock! its kinda metric. with 10 releases on his back the brontosaurus is no greenhorn anymore. we found out a few things: 1) we will never know if good music does not sell. >2) printing your own covers is an honourable thing to do but it is a lot of work! > 3) its still fun in the end so lets stick around for the next 10 releases and check this commanding 3 tracker.

hairy claw follow up the johnny d, akufen, funk d void, agnes, kiki (and many more!) supported release from dan drastic with this, calculus >loosey goosey<. mid-tempo, groove based house at its best, >loosey goosey< is a lurching, sinister cut of the highest order. the remix comes from none other than reboot. currently riding high with his amazing >letters /be tougher< on cadenza as well as amazing remixes for the likes of lemos and warieka on below and connaisseur respectively, reboot has delivered a peak time remix which combines jacking fm bass, loose percussion and the trademark reboot arrangement to brilliant effect.

since their first releases on circus company and milnormodern the 3 mousketeers achieve to impose themsleves on the scene with their unik touch. the band is clement zemtsov on beat programing, damien vandesande on keyboards and horns at last but not least, jonathan illel is warmly laying the lyrics. after having produced hip-hop instrumental for a few years they got into house music after meeting nicolas from nôze. one year and a half later they come up with between the blues ep, a brilliant first ep on circus company. then the guys several eps on other labels like orac or eklo. they also start touring a lot across europe and eastern countries. this new record is called blanche neige (snow white) as the lead track of the ep. all the lyrics from it are taken from the original text written by jacob & whilelm grimm back in 1812. .blanche neige is declined in two different versions. on the a side comes the original mix is the dancefoor cut. slower house beat, solid groove, surround by a marvelous chior. while the break show upreading the first lines of snow white in french. let me just tell you that when the break is over you should fasten your seat belt before a nice take off… the first track on b side is romeo. this track was produced by dop and nôze. once again all the lyrics are taken from a book. here its from .romeo and juliet written by william shackespeare. this track perfectly represent the alliance of both bands. the unik saxophone skills from damien vandesande the one man horn section, a wonderfull piano ride by nôze and the sexy voice of jonathan illel. an acoustic house blaster ! the ep is finaly closing down on b2 with the pop version of blanche neige called >kinder cut. there comes the deepness
