we re very proud to bring you gottwax ep1, the first release on our brand new label. running a label is something we have always dreamt of - with our fifth birthday looming, now seemed like the perfect time to branch out. we have always been 100% focused on running the festival, but we thought that expanding on our ideals and putting out a record would allow us to help the artists, who have helped us for the last few years, gain further exposure. the inaugural gottwax ep1 is a 180-gram heavyweight record limited to 300 copies, it has been complied in conjunction with nixwax and features exclusive tracks from behr, ojsmooth, rob amboule and eldoko - all of whom appeared on the nixwax stage at last year s gottwood festival.

nelistening back, ‘interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘skylax’. a jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with jason’s signature flourishes all over it. aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. speaking of, ‘the love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. it glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘old dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. the spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped latin sample-led beat. from there, ‘rawkicks 2’ shows jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. a seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘cut b’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. that said, it still has the classic jg atmosphere we love. closing out the first half of the album, ‘definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.bringing in the second half of ‘skylax’, ‘john blue’ takes things back a notch further. a deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from jason. ‘last night’ is a track more reminiscent of jason’s first lost cuts ep on wax classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. the last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘mastercuts’ and ‘lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘lost cuts’ records, with ‘lovedits 7’ and ‘mastercut 5’ respectively. the former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature jg touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘bb’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.all in all, this is the perfect follow up to jason’s debut album ‘313.4.ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. if you happened to miss the first album back in 2012, don’t forget that now you have the chance to grab it in a special double pack with ‘skylax’ on cd!so, needless to say, this timeless record is a must purchase for all collectors and djs out there

many reggae artists are lucky to make one breakthrough to the music mainstream. horace andy has managed not only to make a mark with *skylarking*, but also to deliver the definitive reggae version of soul singer-songwriter bill withers evergreen *aint no sunshine*. one of reggaes most distinctive singers, andy has managed to sound as credible delivering social commentary as he does love songs. as one critic put it, *the fragile, vulnerable qualities of his voice could invariably be relied upon to add dignity and sincerity to songs*, the proof is everywhere on this compilation.

three live recorded hardware jams from abygatan, norrkoping, sweden. ntta11 are nihad tule and inter gritty, and an array of old and new machines. this ep offers a trippier take on live techno than their first 11-, but still very much pure-bred techno all the way. except the closing meta incognita, which is something else. we re not quite sure what.

killekill is proud to present eomac’s “spectre”, the debut album from dublin-based producer ian mcdon- nell, a rising star in the techno scene. spectre also marks the label’s first full-length album release. ian is better-known as half of the irish duo lakker and this album is certainly carved from the same cold slab of stone. his music has already gained huge support from the likes of tommy four seven, ellen allien, thom yorke and the one and only aphex twin himself. bleepy, slo-mo synth lines, dense textures, saturated bassdrums and hand-sliced vocals dunked in cavern- ous reverb – spectre is all about eomac doing what he does best, taking our concepts of club sound and contorting them into something that is truly his own. the melodies are slo-mo and lo-fi, the pads, exquisitely lush and textured. ian’s amazing sound-design (bordering on the intense in some places) and incredible attention to detail makes this an album where each listen reveals a deeper layer. spatters of noise, shards of broken beat and relentlessly pounding techno rhythms also make it a dancefloor-decimating weapon.

unxpozd presents the 7th project from dj aakmael, the rise ep. the lead tune -rise- is a blissful, relaxed string based track with playful keys thats perfect for any chill lounge or dance floor. jazz piece is a sampled piece of art, where aak cuts and chops a vintage groove for the 2014 crowd. many have already hailed it as something that has that old nj deep house feel! on the flip side, aak gives two more untitled gems. untitled 105 is a dope club thumper that takes you back to that headknod feeling, perfect for any dance floor who liked to groove! last is untitled 101, thumping beat with dramatic horns and strings to conclude a well-packaged project!

asan has been making music for some time. he is geographically the closest artist to lampuka records, yet lamp004 has taken us the longest to complete thus far. we had hoped this to be asans debut release but we were pipped to the post whilst he was on his travels. gladly though we have what we think is a superfluous release…and well worth the wait. no remixes here, just four solid bangers.

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. it is loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts.
whiskey disco #27, ladykillers ep by yse saint laurant. yse drops a sprinkling of femme fatale themed edits for this, his third full ep, on whiskey disco. whatever your saturday night plans, this ep will have something suited. the low slung, synth-riddled sunset woman, the groove driven and emotive crying woman both sit snug on the a side, leaving the b side for even more left-of-center grooves of ghetto woman and psychodelic woman. this ep further cements the foundation of yse as an amazing editor, producer and … ladykiller.

jiaolong011 sees daphni teaming up with composer/arranger owen pallett (final fantasy/arcade fire/beirut etc..) the a-side has been a staple in daphnis dj sets for the last year delivering bassweight worldwide. *that track is an enigma - when i listen to it at home it seems relatively innocuous but when i play it out all hell breaks loose*, says dan. the b-side is something even more strange and special - tiberius is perhaps the worlds first microtonal electroacoustic violin techno track.

following on from the release of innershades no stopping ep on creme organization last summer, the dutch label revisits the a side cut nina with two remixers in tow. those remixers are bristols bass pioneer kowton and the inimitable production duo of tuff city kids. unterton and delsin duo gerd janson & phillip lauer aka tuff city kids turn in a bulky, piano laced and acid riddled remix of nina that is a pure party starter. idle hands and hessle audio man kowton reworks nina into something run through with plenty of sirens, raw, crunchy drum loops and rolling percussive lines. its stormy and tumultuous and is full of frosty textures. these are two abrasive tracks designed for maximum impact on the dancefloor.

music is strongly linked to memory, sometimes just a simple note will trigger a deep feeling of nostalgia or emotion. the new homesick series was created by music enthusiasts who are living half a world away from their birthplaces. their concept is a play on memory, to re-edit and rework songs from the past into something which is timeless, tracks which feel fresh but retain their memories. for the first release, the homesick team have curated three pieces by drop out orchestra, late nite tuff guy, zimmer, and amadei. doo have carefully reworked -no scrubs- into a warm, bass driven, disco jam suited for the dancefloor, alntg has provided a solid groove theory lesson as only he can, and the ep is rounded-off with a special (double) bonus track for all the people who love 80s-era french pop music, reworked by zimmer and the asia-based newcomer amadei.

with the second serving in our underground sidekick uyx-series were sending a warm welcome to a fresh young talent and the latest member of the upon.you family - mr. pascal hetzel. pascal already proved his production skills with his widely acknowledged remix for my space feat hollis p monroe & overnite by kink & sierra sam in 2013 and now fully debuts with his three track ep feel that beat which is his first solo release ever and a forecast of whats to expect from the young and aspiring producer / dj regularly appearing at the decks of berlins famous panorama bar.

corbu are an electronic, indie-rock band from brooklyn, new york spearheaded by producer and multi-instrumentalist jonathan graves. corbu are jonathan, todd hoellerman (drums, keys), amanda scott (synths, percussion), julian ferraldo (guitar, keys) and brian murphy (bass, keys). named after french architect le corbusier, the band has a strong creative aesthetic. graves writes the music from visual ideas, which he translates into sound. corbu songs are often heard partially or entirely in dreams, and are influenced by films, physical spaces and a childhood love of nature and science fiction. and it works. corbus music is beautifully crafted, taking the listener on a journey from day to night, through exhilarating sunsoaked sonic landscapes to land softly on the surface of the moon. jonathan began singing and playing different instruments at age nine, and eventually fell in love with samplers and their ability to bend conventional sounds into something abstract and new.

uk producer ossie has been popping in and out of sight for a few years now, from a solid pair of singles on the always-reliable hyperdub label to his and vocalists paul black and tilzs black orange juice project. on march 31, he steps out again with a new ep for wolf, she knows (that love hurts) heartbeating finds him stepping away from the strains of funky and r&b explored in previous outings to embrace something more approaching straight-up house music.

all songs have been remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. each lp includes a 12-page booklet with excerpts from darrin huss diary, unpublished photos of psyche with dwayne, and an essay by darrin reflecting on psyche s past and the goettel legacy as well as lyrics. this collection is a glimpse at the early canadian industrial scene and the roots of skinny puppy. go take a walk in the past with an ear for the future you just might learn something.

when luke solomon got in touch and said he wanted to work with local talk we felt both honoured and happy, especially since we have been fans for a long time and mats actually booked him to his raw fusion club in the late 90s. he has been around long enough to be considered a legend within the scene. we couldnt agree more. lost channels, a 130 bpm piano driven and punk-dubby new york inspired house track comes in two versions. the raw & stripped version is exactly what the name says, sharp snares & hi-hats, piano chords, a driving rhythm with lukes trademark percussion sprinkled on top. the live piano version is actually the original version and is peppered with more of everything. bubbly fx, more of that staccato piano and of course that muscular bassline. for remix duties it is the return of an old local talk friend, wil maddams. it seems like wil has spent some time in detroit since last time. this remix sounds like something that would come straight out of the d, his clever drum programming holds this track together with its deep pads and bubbling bassline. it is a retro (but fresh) techno jam for 2014.

for its first release of 2014, sammy dees ultrastretch label has called upon monsieur georget. youre forgiven if the name is unfamiliar. his bio offers few clues—he likes his bicycle, vin rouge and analog hardware, the latter of which was apparent on his recent debut for le loup and seuils hold youth label. bold and auspicious, the ep may have left you wondering if it was something more than a first record. and as it turns out, monsieur georget is none other than chris carrier, the long-active french purveyor of hypnotically minimal house.luckily we werent left waiting for very long for more material from carriers new alias. his second release, le vicieu / colle de la bonette, shows that monsieur georget and monsieur dee share an affinity for pared down, wonderfully elastic club tracks. like carriers best work, the compositions themselves are minimalist, but their hardware-based sound pallet ensures theres plenty of meat on the bones. a-side le vicieu is a subtly melodic shuffler, where deep bass growls at the core of an expansive drum set and whispers suffuse the negative space with mystery. on the flipside, colle de la bonette takes the sound someplace stranger and more psychedelic. whatever weird place were whisked off to, though, its every bit as funky, with brittle drums undulating to the kicks deliciously irregular throb. >monsieur georget< might be a brand-new name, but we’re willing to wager you ll quickly get to know these rollers well.

systematic boss marc romboy debuts on rebirth with *reciprocity*, a stunning track featuring the beautiful vocals from bajka. the package includes also a great version from chicago master tevo howard, back on rebirth with his trademark warm deep acid vibe…and an exclusive to vinyl reprise version. something very special for our ears!

blm, or ben micklewright, has been increasingly on the radar of quality house heads in recent years with output for underground quality and secretsundaze nudging his profile slowly but surely. his stewardship of fear of flying alongside jay massive has resulted in the label, in similarly steady fashion, becoming a mustcheck for fans of the deeper end of house techno who are seeking something that sidesteps trends.blm is at his best when turning in moody, hypnotic and robust house cuts imbued with a distinct uk stylings and that is exactly what he does on *easy knocking* while also turning in electroid tones on opening cut, *paris beatdown*. the result is a classic sounding 4-track ep that has picked up support from efdemin, hackman, djulz, citizen and mosca.

repress of seminal and incredibly rare kms release by heath brunner. originally released in 2000 this timeless piece of detroit techno still stands the test of time and has become something of a collectors piece.
