it might be quite obvious to some of you that follow our little label that we have a thing for schatrax. some would call it an obsession but we simply call it a crush. lets face it, the man has made some of the most timeless deep house from these mighty shores that make up the british isles - what s not to love? so, here he is again with mists a track previously unreleased but unmistakably schatrax. submerged beats, a skippy groove and a simple effective riff are the essence of the track while keep on loving injects a glorious uplifting feel with a bouncing b-line and classic piano riff. flipsides the almighty keeps things deep whilst aliena s groove is one of schatrax s signature tracks with it s haunting melancholic riff keeping the emotions high.

dream weapons moonland from his pathways ep (holger 3, 2014) has been a favorite of many. accordingly, remix duties were given into the trustworthy hands of barnt and jens uwe beyer, two of the co-founders of much acclaimed cologne label magazine. an expert in mixing and structuring, barnt carves out the hidden capabilities of the original while jens uwe beyer takes a slightly more humorous but no less feet-moving approach to things. weirdo techno in typical magazine/holger style.

to keep people guessing, the fifth instalment from australia s best selling people must jam label takes things in a house direction with andy ash at the controls. andy has put through an immense ep of varying house flavours to satisfy an all tastes. the ep kicks of with the monster disco vibed hurricane fantasy track. a beautiful summery looper that s sure to keep the floors burning hot! move is one of andy s straight up house cuts - which he is becoming well known for, a deep sounding organ line carrying the track forward with stabs and a nice little vocal sample to boot. mixing things up a little on the flip, our good friend - ron basejam has provided a sublime adriatic excursion remix of move . ron takes the track to a totally different place with uplifting piano lines and orchestral string stabs building to a lovely crescendo. this remix should be earmarked for croatia 2015. finally dommah takes the ep into almost techno territory with building pads and solid beats resulting in a monster track for when the strobelight pulses and the heads go down!

this four track ep kicks off with cladistic mutation , a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. m2 is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. on the flip, grain gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effec ts peppe r the groove. there s a heavenly nature to the pads and an industrial texture to the percussion that makes this a cerebral but physical affair from start to finish. lastly, neurowaves closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water.

after their first big things i didnt mean ep on dirt crew back in 2013 the cali boys urulu & steve huerta teamed up again for another release full of bliss deep house cuts. both relocated to berlin last year and have since then been extremely busy with their solo output on labels like lets play house, needwant, shabby doll and urulus own imprint amadeus

out of sight , the title track, is an elegant house exercise that takes you back to san francisco. recall is a brain bomb, hypnotic and psychedelic but with lots of energy, and has already been supported by the likes of raresh, rhadoo, djebali and apollonia, and is definately the cut to go in this record. to finish things off, romania s rising star mp, known for his works on soulsity and meterze, shows us his own view on out of sight , based on dynamic drums and a with an amazing bass leading the whole thing.

the caky music sounds like lusty melodic elements on a suspenseful beaty framework, or how they call it: like lechery . side b is literally packed with miro pajic! the remix from the berlin-based lazerslut, who also releases on magda s items & things, uses almost full capacity of the vinyl record length and strikes with a 12-minutes journey of dirty grooves. on a percussive pajic-like setting, he finds his unique way of lechery with an apparently neverending buildup which turns into some epic moments.

as we move into a new year, again start the cogs of labels and artists around the world, this is certainly the case for disc over music as they bring us their first release of 2015. high off the back of exquisite releases in 2014 from luca lozano & mr. ho and nicson, disc over’s first installment of 2015 comes from label head tim green - a three track ep bursting with two classic tg productions and grooves which is then given another dimension with a remix from the talented german born producer borrowed identity. the ep kicks off with the aptly named ‘scar’ - a track which when heard, truly makes it mark. it sets the tone for the rest of the ep with it’s prominent bassline and haunting howls whilst dreamlike keys bounce and float above. track two, ‘we thought’ is taken down a gear but keeps all of the groove built from ‘scar’. it begins with a simple trademark tg bassline and is allied with light and free singular keys. the listener is then joined by vocals which along with the previous elements take you on a real trip. borrowed identity speeds things up right away with his remix of ‘we thought’. the track is morphed into a dancefloor groove with the comforting vocals darkened, cut and reworked on top of an unpredictable and fluctuating bassline. managing to keep the identity of tim’s original the track becomes something completely different and certainly makes you feel you want to take the trip

goodies is a showcase of well known and fresh artist of the cabinet crew. dj honesty (aka honeydrop) kicks off with a nice n deep groover. the bassline is timeless. lemakuhlar follows with a simple and effective tech-house boom. one chord to rule them all. phazer shows his early nineties house roots. yeep ya. nohas track closes this package with a magical tune. some things to enjoy at home, on your ways or on the dancefloor.

the a1 was never a big surprise. mattias fridell s consumed for profit was one of the tracks of the year, and surely fridell s personal best track, and was played by anyone who at least plays a bit of techno in their sets. the usual fridell quality of standard and a tight synth line! a2 sees french artist electric rescue s quarries in the a. mochi remix. a peak-time banger, slapping the synth stabs right into your face. this one always gets the floor jumping. the b-side kicks off with label-head advance human s pure , stripping things down to some essential moody but slamming techno, right up there amongst his best productions. b2 has +platform s mosses closing things off, and as we came to know and love from +platform, it s out there, dubby and dreamy techno, born for those deeper berghainesque floors.

2 sleazy, obscure, top shelf chicago basement tracks of the highest order here, dug straight from the trax archives of 1988 & refreshed for 2015! fantasy is a creeping, sinister, rough hewn spoken word banger that has all the things we love about these tunes, dark synths, frenetic drum programming & those lyrics! classic material indeed from short lived production outfit pleasure zone. flip it over for the b-side i cant understand & an instantly familiar vibe jumps out at you, the raw claps, basic melodies & the story of a lover left high & dry recounted over tough jacking rhythms. essential! re-mastered, re-pressed & re-released with the full co-operation & participation of all rights holders.

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

-light up- gives the name to this ep, the track builds around a funky bassline but gets deep and intense with dominating synth work leading to huge breakdowns while always keeping the swing. -street knowledge- jacks things up a bit more with a more agress

the soul notes imprint has never restricted itself to just one sound. ever since it emerged in late 2011, the basque county based outfit has shown several sides of its identity and has developed into a diverse and well balanced home. one of the labels usual suspects is cologne native, adryiano. after reaping some havoc with his efforts on the snx series early last year, adryiano has been crafting his down south ep (ironically) somewhere in the north rhine-westphalian concrete jungle. the down south ep is buldging with deep sine basses, fine rhythmic synthwork and lavish but hefty beats. the title track showcases these exact things best. the essence of adryiano s latest effort is still somewhat hard to pin down. a lot of different moods are going on throughout the ep while the overall sounds maintains it s own glance. from the deep machinefunk on down south to the broken beats of feel what you do. all of these bits have a nice theme to them.

the groove brothers, aka jef k and rhythm&soul, keep things moving with the second release on their fledgling label, on a mission records. it’s been seven months since the label’s debut, demonstrating the duo’s considered approach to their outlet, which has been set up to capture the true spirit of house music, basing its ideals on some of the industry’s most respected labels and keeping that timeless, classic ethos alive. this second release unites the label owners with a couple of newcomers to the scene. retaining the sultry outlook of the first release the groove brothers inject jazzy notes and smooth funky rhythms into their music, while mr ks and kub follow in a similar vein with their well-crafted contributions. ks expanding on the jazz theme, while kub takes a more sensual pathway. nail provides the lead track for fofs latest vinyl only excursion - originally produced in the same time period as the classic tracks on the ode rammel reissue ep earlier in the year, glazed lay dormant on one of nails dats for many years before being rediscovered and given its first airing now on fof. chunky roughed up house beats are the order of the day here, a real peak time groove. new talent harry mccanna, resident at londons infamous undersound nights, debuts with act 1, a beautifully subtle bassline driven groove that rises above the pack with its super warm pad lending the track a warm and fuzzy hypnotic edge. romanian talent zece kicks off the flipside with the most contemporary offering, a breakbeat laden groove with a fx laden vocal snatch underpinned by that all important b-line whilst sonodab rounds things off with a beautifully deep and melodic slice of electro on brown study, the percussive elements giving rise to a hazy melodic pattern for those early hour excursions.

after a series of prized splits and collaborations, m_rec ltd s own max_m returns with dissertation , his latest fully-fleshed solo effort. the kidnapper bell was his last ep for m_rec ltd. the avid vinyl lover and collector has since put his -maximalist- values to work sharing wax with the likes of fabrizio lapiana of attic music, as well as with newcomers wrong assessment. not one to rush things, dissertation then comes at a peak time for max_m and m_rec ltd, representing the culmination of a ceaseless dedication to the type of stolid, hypnotic brand of techno intrinsic to both chief and label.

for skylax 140, damien zala, of rowtag records fame, brings the heat with a new 6 track ep. it kicks off with an absolutely mad remix of * looking for the sun* by detroit legend, anthony shake shakir. the attention to detail is clear when it comes to someone who has been in the game for so long, and the rework he has done for damiens track is no exception. * the final break* is damiens first original on the record. a skippy, staccato affair in both its percussion and its disco/funk/soul sampling. *beauty is back* is damien taking things down a jazzier route, with a piano laden jazz sample and shuffling drums to match.on the flip, * always young* is an audacious disco edit, sampling such a treasured song that many would consider untouchable, luckily, damien works his magic to make an edit which gets people moving without being obvious. the ep closes out with * emotions* and the original version of * looking for the sun*, barely recognisable from the anthony shakir remix, in the best possible way! sweet & dirty indeed, dont miss this offering by the one and only damien zala.

dense & pikas kneaded pains label arrives kicking and screaming into 2015 with another raw n raucous ep, this time from blake stone. deftone sets the scene nicely with a nice slab of heads down warehouse techno, good 2 me uses a well known sample for an altogether more sunnier track whilst flipsides cruel tone tightens up the beats for a very modern sounding slice of peak time action whilst affected once again delves in the darker side of things with a low-down dirty stomper.

nick beringer & diego krause have teamed up to deliver a 3 track ep to our mfd office, the mainland europeans have covered the upbeat corner of the spectrum with adam, and taken things a bit easier with the interesting sounds on focus and premium. keeping on our european thing, we welcomed lazare hoche s posterboy malin genie to work up a driving little dub mix to round things off.

among the things that go boom in the night, the slick but rugged house jams from terranova certainly occupy a territory on their own - these cuts are precision engineered to rouse any lazy crowd, while providing enough depth for the auditory cerebral cortex to keep spinning.

class a dancemusic like always but this release is extraordinary, listen to the single traxx. we dont like boarders musicwise and we dont respect them so you will find some trancy slow jam power house traxx: crossing boarders.

nhan solo gets back into the swing of things. this time he teamed up with the wonderful cari golden (suara, noir music) for another catchy dance floor mover. -body- comes in two versions, enjoy!

this february nightdrivers deliver three first-rate cuts on holic trax for the quando party dove vai ? ep. following on from burnski s the hours ep which saw love from names like mr g, catz n dogz, dam swindle and eats everything, holic trax returns this february with nightdrivers quando party dove vai ? . since delivering their debut release on bosconi records back in 2013 the berlin-based duo nightdrivers have been going from strength to strength stacking up further releases on claap, their own nightdrivers label and now holic trax. to get things underway the light pads of resta pure dove sei give the opening track a floaty quality while the weighty percussion and subtle rhythms build proceedings into a steady and infectious groove. nightdrivers appear to go up a gear as the ep progresses with the rippling drums and dynamic arrangements of la ronde suite (but not for me) while fast cars maintains the lively vibe of its predecessor and frenetically bubbles along over busy modulations, wacky intonations and infectious licks to dish up a suitably punchy close to this bouncy ep.

sometimes it takes a little longer until things happen. talking the conjunctional studio joint of martin landsky and marco resmann entitled lava, now released under their collaborational project landsky & resmann, this single is one that has been overdue for quite a while and for a reason. a reason and shared history that essentially helped to shape and add momentum to marco resmanns career at an early stage a good 13 years ago when he wasnt even known under his real name but used the artistic alias phage dj- and production-wise.

the nuclear family return with the follow-up to the summer’s after effects ep - another four tracks of deeper electronics for discerning djs and dancers. the title cut is a throwback to the days when we made music in our bedrooms with whatever cheap-ass drum machines and synths we could lay our hands on, and we have invited one of our favourite artists, atlantas moon b, to lend his magic touch to a remix on the flip, we drift into dubbier climes before dropping the tempo to close things out on a spaced-out electro tip.

strictly limited sealed release, comes with stickers, poster. the filosofischestilte sound is an unique take on instrumental experimental west coast beats at the same time he is trying to make a musical point by keeping things as simple and blunt as possible with both his arrangements and structure.

after his first ep for l.i.e.s. last year, tzusing is back with his impeccably produced style of industrial and ebm influenced machine grinding cuts.
the tracks on this ep represent the climate of clubbing yesteryear when it was normal for djs to play such things as ministry, front 242, or nitzer ebb next to a disco track next to a breakbeat track and so forth and to say these tracks could be heard somewhere like medusas would not be off base. driving, engaging and downright gnarly we can only hope these sounds foreshadow things opening back up on the floor as time pushs forward.

bassa clan are a mysterious duo from bologna (italy). the project was born on a foggy night in the countryside. akai mpc 2000 and a radar oriented to detroit were the basic ingredients. raw, analog, roots devoted. from techno to house and viceversa. only vinyl - hand stamped - from our soul to yours.

celebrated and mercury-nominated uk duo rae & christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on night time stories/late night tales after spending the last decade meditating in a buddhist monastery in swindon. this year the label commissioned a series of remixes from mercury rising and mang dynasty (aka ray mang & bill brewster) take on favourite game featuring rising star of the swindon buddhist circuit jake emlyn. mang dynasty focus on gita langley s backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and afghanistan). jake emlyns more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12inch on mangled, home of the hits!

royal crown of sweden is back.

out of rome, sofatalk soars high on this ep, feeling out the difference between a lifetime on earth or one really cool moment above it. the title track breathes and evolves via a series of flourishes on the playful side of things - this one is no beard stroker. cloudy soul keeps the optimism and front foot action rolling with an excursion slightly to the deeper end without ever fully taking the plunge. wrapping it up, on reflection is a tight little rhythm-box-driven number that takes you by surprise, transplanting you from the floor to the lower middle stratosphere without you realising. japanese producer 9dw then turns it into a hot stepper of its own, keeping the energy up there but differentiating the bounce.

every wph summer brings us…the wph summer special! well, some summer specials have been known to be released in the winter, with huge acclaim from the cold masses who had something to warm their hearts and souls to. so we figured we would release another summer special in the winter… the mysterious-but-not-really harry baldi kicks things off with ‘something for your mind’, a sample-ridden up tempo house workout that will also go down a treat on techno floors. solid yamaha bass anyone? up next we introduce a new belgian member to the wph family. dj miclem has quietly been working on his music and now it’s time to let some of it out of the studio and onto your decks. this is the vintage wph sound that got us on the map!

this one is a taste of things to come from the clekclekboom camp, a ready to use various cuts ep made by deejays for deejays. the label say -a solid piece of wax with different weapons including already known ccb producers and extended family. for this first volume, french fries teams up with nsdos on a hypnotic jam, bringing chicago s percussive legacy in a 90 s nyc ballroom. then we got aleqs notal going deep with a new batch of his lunar material where tripping synths meet spaced out hi-hats. on the flip jean nipon provides his drummer background to display some infectious rhythms colliding with a shuffling syncopated bass, while barbara ford takes us through a heavy mesmerizing acid jam tunnel… overall a deep and yet club-material experience representing perfectly what clekclekboom has to offer today.-

it often said that all good things must come to an end, but it s especially satisfying when that end is a real high note. wed like to think thats the case with icee hot, as its five- year run as a party and a label is coming to a close this month, both with a 28­hour marathon goodbye event and with daddy issues, the latest ep from vin sol & matrixxman.

it all depends on how we look at things and not how they are in themselves.
