limited to 250 copies !!! on august 4th 2011, the sony music warehouse in enfield, north london was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. the warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of cds and vinyl stored by the distributor pias including the back catalogue of freerange. the blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.

over the past few years we have seen a surge of artists, music and labels coming out of romania and, whilst not seen as a traditional hotbed of house music, this new wave of movers and shakers are working together to create their own lasting musical legacy. the latest in the busy line of producers is 22 year old bacau born, marcman. behind the decks at 14 and studying his art from 18 the young man with a love for angry kicks and heavy baselines has already graced the likes of quanticman, plant 74 and esperanza with his music. now hes set to join the bass culture family as he presents his debut release for the label the in trecere ep. >i was actually sent some marcman tracks about a year ago by franco cinelli< says bass culture label chief djulz. i instantly loved his beats and groove and i played them immediately on the circoloco terrace. i got in touch and asked him to work on an ep for bass culture. i specifically wanted it for this summer because his beats are exactly what i love to play in ibiza. marcmans 4 track >in trecere< ep sees him sandwiching the deep dubby sounds of rutina and the percussive guitar licked dansand, with the chicagoesque numbers levier and in trecere.

>the real me< is a collaboration between deeper shades recordings artists salvatore agrosi (coming of the very successful spirit ep) from italy and florida based vocalist dennis baker (featured on the >hypnotize you< releases). the four remixes selected for this 12 inch are ranging from a driving and bass heavy peak time dub by label head lars behrenroth (which btw. has been one of lars secret weapons and created a lot of anticipation for this release) via salvatores stripped down interpretation as his alter ego toto to an emotionally charged atmospheric builder by marco fracasso.

celebrating a landmark tenth release, biscuit factory records brings two absolute stompers. the a side is creature, a laxx and farkas collaboration. on the flip laxx and soap dodgers team up with hi rolla. creature is a 4x4 combo with a smooth hypnotic vocal that drops into a heavy bassed, techy roller. the biscuit factory is set to full speed on this one with industrial synths and weighty stabs crashing over the raw upfront bassline. hi roller is a dance floor club smasher. dark robotic basslines and pure weight make this a perfect flip to creature. the low sub bassline and hard punchy drums combine with light melodies in the breakdown to make a track that turns speakers inside out and shreds clubs to pieces. creature and hi rolla have been a staple in walshs sets over the last few months, destroying raves across europe. huge support also coming from n type on his weekly rinse fm wheel and deal records show, hatcha (kiss fm, sin city recs) and skream and benga (bbc radio 1).

foreign sunrises are always inspiring an artist. festival gigs with amazing music and extraordinary people making you feel the real magic of electronic music. einmusik packed all those things and made a dreamy and mysterious ep called >damgala<. only two tracks coming up, but they are special and wistful - nothing more is left to say about the feelings of an artist traveling all over the world since months. >damgala< itself is a song with unsettling synths, an undulating baseline and rolling drums. the breaks are so strong and suprising and you will never forget this sensuous chorus. >st.anna< is the second number on the ep. it is made by mars leder and einmusik. they meet each other on several parties in berlin. mars, a young and talented dj also plays a lot of instruments and so they made a studio session with different sequences. the guitar is clear and melancholic, the synths are soft and the bass is catching you. close your eyes and feel the song without being prejudiced by some words.

foolish felix dickinsons superb cynic label with another hot one! cynics latest release features another killer track from l.h.a.s. inc. daniel avery releases his >need electric ep< june 25th on phantasy sound. the london based dj has spent the last few years impressing his peers, collaborating with justin robertson, being singled-out as the one to watch by andrew weatherall (who also lent his midas remix touch to daniels last release) and has now signed up to erol alkan’s phantasy label. daniels releases have already appeared on tigersushi, throne of blood and relish and he is a sought after remixer having leant his distinctive style to tracks for metronomy, django django, the 2 bears, mickey moonlight, jokers of the scene, amongst others. this new ep is a definitive statement of intent for avery as a producer in his own right. the vinyl resurects lock grooves for the more adventurous dj, and features unique artwork from the up and coming kate copeland.

smith & mudd are back in fine style on claremont 56, following up their excellent lp with this great double header! >sauna love< is the lead track, an uptempo, string laden boogie house affair with great vibes, bass, strings and punchy percussion all rolling along into the sunshine. on side-b >the surveyor< is a great piece of otherworldly electronic music, coming on like some weird cough medicine induced dream. the bass pulses along with mystery dialogue, light key flourishes and an intent that is delivered about 5 minutes in when the kick drops and the whole thing shifts into a latenight, alt disco bomb.
