after 2 very remarkable releases, the french label pilbus records is back on the offensive with this ep highlighting another label team member : macsim ganczarczyk. macsims minimal style is clearly represented in his part one original mix, decorated with dark tones mixed with cavernous atmosphere, and rolling around a heavy bass filling entirely the soundspace. you can feel the same darkness in the second track of this part one ep: a remix made by the probably most well known argentinian producer: franco cinelli, who shows his talent by completely changing the style of the original mix.

the name says it all. dettmann is the debut long player of berghains resident dj, producer and remixer marcel dettmann - and what an album it is. intrinsically tied to the myth that is berghain by now, the attached label ostgut ton and at the same time with the regeneration of no-frill, cleansed and powerful electronic music, marcel dettmann managed a daring feat: the production of a truly absorbing and veritable techno album. framed by >quasi< and >taris< as intro respectively outro, spread out over ten tracks, dettmann transports the raw energy, the rough aesthetics and the simple grace of techno.

odaka (also known as rawakari) delivers some nice abstract techno in the best idm tradition. he dabbles here with a flurry of machines, to obtain that distinctive analogue sound to go back to the basics. even the graphic design is the result of a more back to basics technique, without the assistance of a computer once again, but rather via sketching and plain and simple drawing. a very sincere and sympathetic release on this belgium label (brussels to be precise, wallonia, roughly same areas as confined). record is mastered by pascal demez (herrmutt lobby, kadah/vresky) check!

wonderful release by kyle hall on his new detroit based label wild oats. masterpiece 4 track ep, each track divine and unique in its own way. hot jazzy kyle hall fashioned deephouse that can serve a lounge and at the same time bang even harder on a dancefloor. kyle halls experimentalist off beat antics meets smooth jazz would be a way to describe the sound. poly rhythms everywhere but at the same time a cohesive groovy soulful feel. overall this ep is a must buy for anyone who is for the future of the electronic music genre and enjoys quality.

prepare to enter the sombrero galaxy. journey to the centre of the sun, the debut release from lovefingers highly anticipated imprint esp institute, is a collaborative effort from londoner jonny nash (discosession) and dutchman tako reyenga. the two met years ago whilst jonny was working and living in tokyo and tako made his way over to dj. around the same time, lovefingers linked up with these two and a musical family had formed. that being told, its only natural for sombrero galaxy to find its home and represent the face of the esp insitute. journey to the centre of the sun is a dive into a moody, visceral and ethereal headspace brought to life through shimmering synthesizers, swirling guitars and a chugging bassline coupled with live percussion, clearly setting the bar higher than the bulk of contemporary electronic music. on the b side, the stallions (lovefingers and lee douglas) reinterpret the track with optimism, nicely complimenting the original with a light and cloudy yet driving house version. this is the music of dreams, keep an eye on esp institute in this new decade.

this is the 11th release from sui generiz (division of absolut freak records), a special one marking a new phase of the portuguese label. andy book comes with a very deep track with beautiful chords, vocal works and melodic sounds, which give a nice and smooth trip called >if you tried<. the outstanding and famous french producer alexkid - already signed on the best labels such as f communications, rekids or cadenza - offers a super interesting and cleverly made remix. brilliant minimalist work pushing the limits of the original mix even further. then, the finnish producer zentex, well-known for his works on traum, kickboxer or resopal, is back on sui generiz (after having signed the first reference called >blue<) with a stunning version. deep, solid and driving remix. just listen! last but not least, johnwaynes - the exciting duo coming from the same land as the label - brings some organic beats and a bright piano for a beautiful remix, not less sui generis work than they use to do. their very unique sound, already heard on compost, brique rouge or bloop, will make you dance all long.

this man cant currently be stopped. following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (>marvin” on compost, >smaul 06< & >smaul 07<) in january 2010 acid paulis >riverboat tour< came out. now, it seems he opens this years summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks. even though he had been touring a lot with the notwist last year, acid pauli was pretty often an invited, musically refreshing guest in berlins minimal techno (what ever) scene. den mahlstrom rauf leaves no doubts about. great build up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unlash finally the madness charge with a levitating reverse-ducking-compressed melody. den mahlstrom runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side a. it is the same track reworked. his musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but >how lucky a fate< deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a known housy and deep realm.

sa19 ep bring us a side with percussive anthem >la caja herramientas< with its growling sub baseline, into a full on dirty techno stomper with loads of essential breaks, edits, and filters for another sa powerful and distinctive dance floor bomb that will guarantee a rawkus. b side >ritmo magnifico< takes a more straight forward approach with its pounding vibe, funky hypnotic riffs, and filtered effects. the same side b2 track >con gusto< stormin track, with its haunting overtones, vocal stab, hypnotic deep sub bass that will cause dance floor pandemonium. enjoy and play this strong croatian ep!

some still know very little about t&b artist josefine jinder, so let us introduce her to you. in august 2008 we saw the debut ep of little jinder, >polyhedron<, and soon after in october 08 we gave >polyhedron< the remix treatment with loads of t&b producers. in june 09, after countless gigs and production work, jinder returned to the t&b catalog with >youth blood< on their scion comp. the tune was such a hit t&b had no other choice but to give this epic blood sucker disco house anthem the same remixing treatment as >polyhedron<. as usual, t&b remixes are all over the board from a joker-esque dubstep remix by 12th planet & flinch, a monster mash heavy bass electro remix from sharkslayer to a remix by tomas andersson, who graces this 12 inch with a smooth rolling disco remix straight from the dub factory. this is one of many releases to come from jinder, this is her first single in support of her full length record to come out in 2010. definitely an artist to watch.
