nice price deal !!! this is dasein, the opening potion of milyoos (aka tommy wilson) debut ep and the second release on subeenas new opit records. dasein attempts to grapple with existence, temporality and substance and what could be a more perfect description of these warped sonics- perpetual motion purely of the moment. multitude makes you feel like a tourist at an off-world bazaar, a strange landscape with a slug-bass bubble undercarriage and inquisitive wide-eyed synths. fayoh leads in with in a harold budd doing house piano before being pounced on by clipped vocal tics and odd blocks of cubist sound all underpinned by a funky beat and quite frankly its gorgeous. if there is a strand of coherence across the ep then its an almost exotic one- these are curiosities, virtual ships in bottles, they are not narrative pieces even if they are in constant motion. only two releases in and opit records is clearly going to avoid easy categorisation- milyoos debut is something to get mighty excited about and i await further transmissions with baited breath...

another true classic, coming straight out of 1996 detroit to 2010s decks. produced by sean deason, released on his label matrix records, this track lives up to its name on todays dancefloors as it did back then. a timeless trip for body and mind!

femme fatale with audiofly remix of the longest day following the success of layo & bushwackas last release the longest day comes femme fatale plus an additional remix of the longest day by audiofly, stripped back but beautiful and haunting. the a side, femme fatale with its winding hypnotic synth and deep pads harks back to the birth of house music whilst maintaining that up front feel, the track began as a play around with some well known 80s music but then developed into a track of its own.

here is finally the first single from yakine, a close member to the eklo family. after his featuring on the hooksey vol.1, he gave us four tracks which he worked specially for this ep. yakine explored a new sound, some more melodic and deeper works, different from his usual stuff. captor of sin, the main track here. we find yakine in a more pop dimension with the vocals. the metric rhythm is mix it up with sub and perky shuffle grooves, everything harmonized through a lead ambiance made of weird synts & pads. then shirp, lead from synths, the track go on in the same vibe, more excentric and percussive, rounded beat, and a slap bass, 80s funk type. on the flip, temptation, a more singular track, a great detroit techno influenced, with his unusual keys and some indus sounds. the story ending with aferone, a deep and sensitive balad, overhang by a poetic piano coming and going all along. solid and versatile 12 inch.

fresh & ltd repress !! mark murphy is a jazz singer legend. he started in the late 50is, ruled the 60is and his records are a hipsters must have since the 70is. then he came to fame again when one gilles peterson got him into dingwalls in the late 80is and japanese producers united future organisation made murphys version of stolen moments (he wrote the lyrics) really big. recently he releases his second album love is what stays on verve (germany), produced by famous german trumpeter till brönner. another famous german producer, yes its henrik schwarz, touched the original track with its deep vocals and full orchestrra arrangement and created the ultimative fusion of jazz and the recent deep house sound from berlin. extremly tasteful. you will never heard strings, wooden brass, and such deepnees of murphy featured in the recent clubcontext but will do thanks to henrik schwarz. different to many others this remix gets released right after being finished in henriks studio so you can say this is the sound of the moment

hyperdub has long been a fan of grime don terror danjahs razor sharp productions, his unparalleled, skittering rhythm science, deadly riffs, brilliant technicolour synth squiggles, gremlin cackle signature and general ear for a catchy tune. on this first ep for the label, he showcase two strains of his many skills. acid cranks up the energy, with an ascending synth crashing into stuttering drums and synths. they play hide and seek with each other for a bit, before the track unexpectedly breaks into a 4 / 4 house rhythm, and then shatters into pieces again. on the flipside, pro plus, terror is joined by long time collaborator d.o.k for a slice of their classic sound - an infectious, twisted sickly sweet synth melody wrapped around syncopated, stop start drums to mean effect.

what better way to start 2010 then with a brand new 10 inch of the highest caliber talents the netherlands has seen to date! after 2562 & martyn it will be up to evs & tmsv to represent the dutch on the dubstep tip!
evs hails from rotterdam.. the subway capital of holland.. by staying unaffected by the jump up or dancefloor style dubstep has adopted in the past few years it shows that evs has concocted his very own style.. a mixture of idm, trip hop and even dnb perfectly rolled into 1 production.. dt08.
the flip holds utrecht talent tmsv. a guy who you will hear alot more about. his dmz infused sound is one to watch for the future as he allready has gained the support of people like distance & mala... check subconscious brain for when you want to transport yourself back to the past when dubstep just raised its head!

its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.

our european dream team this time features parisian new comer julian sandre with the opener >satisfaction<. then we head to the dutch city of rotterdam where furrr and hazendonk with >rupert<, confirm that the capital is not the only city with the funk phenomena. our next stop is the south of france to find acumen and the subtle, tribal-tinged deepness of >nice victory<. finally its to germany to hook up with our good friend and diynamic family member markus homm. he rounds out the ep with the mean and moody >gone to soon<. choose your weapon(s)!

a couple of weeks ago some records were delivered into our warehouse in error. i put one of them on the turntable, preparing to ridicule it. how surprised i was then when it turned out to be as good as this. when i tracked down the label owner and asked him for sales notes i was sent the following:
