secretsundaze 017 comes from london based producer endian. releasing just 2 eps in a few years on nonplus and electric minds, endian has nevertheless managed to to turn the heads of the likes of steffi who used one of his tracks for her panorama bar compilation and boddika who also licensed a track for a various artists ep. sounding like a producer far more experienced than the two releases would indicate, it came as no surprise that this is far from the the output of a novice but the seasoned veteran george levings aka commix (metalheadz).

in a time before cdj loop buttons and stone-cold arrangement techniques, bonus beats and beat records were a vital tool for aspiring, working and tone-deaf djs. the third release in an unofficial beat-tracks sublabel (se redshape and todd osborn for further reference) rhythm trainx vol 1 tries to breathe new life into that lost craft with an all-star cast: manuel tur, i:cube, blank spanner, disco nihilist, Âme and radio slave. all in different bpm, varying styles and (un)fortunately a bit more than simple kick-drum-hi-hat patterns. built to last.

stay underground it pays returns! relatively unknown newcomer modula brings us a slab of ruff n ready analog cuts, with a real standout remix from fuckthegovernment! said remix of controllo by f.t.g is so good that it is the opener of the whole record. it’s a remix built for late night experiences, one for the warehouse, with it’s wailing, ravey vocal samples and subterranean rolling acid bassline. the a side is rounded off by modulas tape mix of controllo. doing what it says on the tin, the graininess and saturation that tape production brings is instantly noticeable. while the tape mix is not as sinister as f.t.gs remix, nor as spatially dense, its greater emphasis on synth work is bound to make it a favourite for many suit fans.the b side takes on more of techno form than the a side. kicking off with intrigo (tape edits), the pad sounds give it an ethereal atmosphere, contrasting the almost militant feel of the percussion and bassline. immerso (instrumental mix) is probably the highest energy pick of the bunch, lots of bleepy synth work and crispy power claps might make this track the djs pick of the record. all in all, a top record from modula! dont sleep on it!

hailing from berlin, but spiritually from chi-town, snuff crew are back in your area with some freshly served up basement goodies once again. following on from basement jams #1, from all the way back in 2011, the boys bring us tracks with the same playful nature as before but, dare i say it, they go even harder this time. stalwart fans of the first release can stop reading now because it will almost certainly be a blind-buy for you, four tracks obviously engineered for use in the club, whether its the massive kick in ‘what it is’ or the ravey acid lead in ‘88cents’. the jams on the b-side may do the most damage. ‘remember’ holds absolutely nothing back, with its arpeggiated bassline lead and crisper than crisp 909 drum programming. analog is a term that gets bandied about all the time nowadays, ever since so many young producers became enamoured with tape compression and hiss delay plug-ins. i know snuff crew are real analog guys though, in sound and mentality, so hearing basement jams #2 for the first time had me so excited once again.

the mighty geena is back on antinote with a new ep filled with deepest psychedelic goodness and spaced surprises. comes housed in a glorious printed sleeve! tip! side a starts with -tone loc- a heavy geenafied future classic, complete with signature celestial pan pipes and a deeper than deep bassline, together building in intensity with muted distant vocals adding to the sweet heady confusion. the next track -minus jam- is on a similar path of ecstatic disorientation, with spinning delayed glass toms supervised by the darkest dictatorial bass line confirming geena is a master of light and dark. side 2 continues with -box of exotica- where we are sent to a dreamy post blade runner musical world of traditional and futuristic collision augmented with beautiful and equally dark japanese stick music vocals. the last track -green resident- also walks the cosmic path found throughout this gorgeous ep, softer at first than the others, but the silky darkness soon seeps in bringing cosmic order to geenaland.

after life recorders 90 state release, argumento strikes back with the 9th argument ep, a various artist record showcasing an uncompromising techno, carrying the new fresh sounding grooves with traces from the past. peter sliwinski aka echoplex does not need any introduction. more than 2 decades present on the scene with numerous classic works on his label soleil and other platforms like synewave, end to end, imf, he always represents the detroit sentiment spiced with pounding grooves along the way. this time is also not different with his opening track of the ep called recovered.

for some it might be kraftwerk, but for me, my favourite electronic pioneers are probably australias severed heads. they were so far ahead of the game that they had to invent a lot of the technology they used. inspired, playful, never boring and always sonically brilliant they pushed at the frontiers of electronic music more than most. by the late 80s they were pursuing a slightly more polished course and made a series of records that had the potential to reach a much larger audience. possibly because of their name they never quite managed that, but they had several big club hits, the dub versions of which crossed over into the nascent house scene. i am honoured that i am able to make the dubs of those three 12 inches from 1988 - 1990 available again.

after six years of frozen sleep, we though it was time to reactivate the bang a rang story. following the killer *hi-8 adventures* by detest, released in january 2009, djipe delivers *misophonia* - a 4 weighty dancefloor traxxx to spit more anthem in your glitchy mutant rave. hailing from the netherlands, this young producer, release after release, with his unique style of oldschool breakcore, blended with hardcore kicks and crossbreed snares, steps up the game! better than a long speech, bust out the soundsystem and crank the volume to 11, djipe will blow up each dancefloors worldwide! (previous djipe music on: third movement, deathchant, abused recordingz, machinecore records, noisj, murder channel ...)

this time around it s a triple dose of the sort of forward-moving and ready-to-go good times accompaniment. first up is ben houghton from melbourne, australia with do you know a house cut with emotional deep vibes and more than enough of the straightforward percussion and bump required to keep things immediate. following it up is natural late nighter happiness, another housey number but with a smokey mood that just seems to dub itself out as the track keeps moving. at the tail end of the release you ll encounter casazza & kozber an italian-polish producer team that will have you slinking around with the certified lazer-lounge mover twilight all squelches and shimmers, it s a journey from the sunken dancefloor to the mirrored bar and back again.

9300 records returns with the first ep by shin, a relatively unknown, belgian producer duo. they gave birth to three solid tracks with low kicks and raw bass chords, synths that are highly 90 s trance influenced and some acid vibes on the b-side. the cherry on top is a remix of mistress by none other than legowelt! danny wolfers discribes the ep as flemish achromatism , which is a good reference to its melancholic undertone.limited to 300 hand stamped and numbered copies !

the 3rd outing from legwork comes from one of our label heads in lance desardi and singer/song writter jesse rennix. this ones been a long time in the making, but the final product is well worth the blood, sweat and tears. with a heavy nod to prescription records and the 1st & 2nd wave detriot pioneers, emotion is the order of the day. not much else to say, other than see for yourself. the heavens await

two slices of brilliant brazilian disco, painel de controle have a few bangers across their rca lps, these two being my favourites. *relax* is a straight up boogie monster, well known to deep disco & boogie heads flipped with *malandrinh* with its insanely catchy guitar. the original brazilian *relax* 7 inch plays at 33rpm (like many brazilian 45s), if you know you are cutting you will know this is not ideal. our new 7 inch is 45rpm and cut from a super crisp new master from the tapes at timmon cutting labs, sounds about 5x better than the o.g. ... simple choice.

the third release on palms & charms comes from tokyo club stalwart masanori ikeda (mansfield, ikeda x), who has had previous releases on the legendary flower records and cos/mes imprint snaker. a resident dj at london club wag in the early 90 s, masanori returned to japan later in the decade and has since provided the soundtrack to many a tokyo night-time adventure, most recently with his continuing residency at shibuya institution oath. with afro tipsy, masanori offers up a monster of rolling percussion and pulsating synths. feel the stress of the day fall away, your veins flowing as if with the very energy of a thousand suns. moving confidently to the dance floor, your head and limbs begin to move in new and unexpected rhythms. don t be alarmed - you feel good. on the flipside, the remix from almunia (claremont 56) takes you deeper than deep. the sound envelops you as you enter the club. the continental winds and low pressure lift you aloft and you circulate around the dance floor, carried far as if on a warm jet stream. the rhythm drives, dubbed-out guitar echoing through the night. leonardo ceccanti and gianluca salvadori taking you to new places.

atjazz on local talk! pretty good combo right? well, just wait until you hear fox tooth and we re quite sure you ll agree with us that this is something above normal rank. martin iveson aka atjazz gave us a release that will work just as well on big sound systems as well as in those dark house basements. the original version is an electronic house jam that s equipped with all necessary tools in order to peak in the main room but without all the played out tech-house schemes. it s uplifting yet dark and carves a very personal groove - yum ! oh, don t miss the killer break down...big! the second version comes in the form of his inspired atjazz galaxy aart dub and this to be fair is more of a remix than a dub. here we step straight down to the darkness for a warming deep house cut that sounds like something from the prescription archives but still retaining the trademark atjazz sound. this is simply, sophisticated house music for those who like things real.

harry klein records is back. the first contribution comes from giorgia angiuli. born and raised in the deep south of italy, giorgia is a classic example for a inimitable talent when it s about combining different styles of music. either playing live on stage or recording in the studio – her unconventional manner of reception and rendition, same on stylistic as on technical issues, allows her to create unique moments through her music. in this sense her forthcoming ep, named nebula , is a contribution to the multiple diversity which marks the electronic scene nowadays more than ever. it s taking us on a journey through the facets of heart-warming house, straightforward techno, and the fields of intense and dreamy pop, always reminding us of what s really essential in music.

this month athens of the north presents two 45 s from a true musical genius, weldon irvine. here we have 2 classic sides taken from the 1976 lp sinbad on rca. the vocals don blackman are certainly the equal of marvin gayes whats going on for conscious soul perfection, i don t think i can give it higher praise than that. this is in my top 5 records of all time dont think, buy it.

chicago legend marshall jefferson gave the world many classic records over the years including this influential proto-deep house gem way back in 1986, helping to solidify a blueprint & sound for numerous producers to come in the following decades. his work as jungle wonz always went deeper than most, steeped in soul & emotion, way ahead of the game & incredibly advanced for the times. *the jungle* is no exception, a blistering, melodic journey, the perfect vision of house. repressed & remastered for 2015 & featuring all original label artwork, with permission from trax records *the jungle* is now available again to be rediscovered, a truly essential record that stills sounds as fresh & contemporary today.

after more than a year in the making we are almost ready to release the final chapter in psychemagiks magik series. due to incredible responses from the artists we contacted we ended up with more tracks than we needed for one album so it was decided to release magik sunset in two parts. both albums contain yet more of the long lost and obscure tracks that the previous compilations have presented and part one is now available on double vinyl in gatefold sleeve.

its release time for house is ok! frankfurt based label waited a bit longer than usual for its co-owner marko pelaic aka homeboy to come up with new sounds so it doesnt really surprise theyve decided to let him take over this, one man reign ep, first of that sort for this etiquette. kaprije is not only news for the label but homeboy himself in a way he defined it as writing a new chapter, stepping away from traditional house music, exploring more of the experimental and modern sounds a direction hes interested in continuing.

almost a year after their best-selling second ep, the anonymous bandits crumbs return to the fray, with another perfectly planned and executed smash & grab although delivering a mysterious & scantily clad 12- is hardly a novel concept these days, it does concentrate the mind (and feet) on the music more than the brand it s undercover time again, and we re sworn to secrecy, of course...but two of the regular collaborators have engaged in a serious bit of one upmanship having landed this diverse haul, let s take a look inside as we move from a completely overhauled musicbox classic, flipped and re-pitched for 21st century floors. followed up by a totally irresistible modern afro-disco workout with more than a few sonic surprises thrown in turn over for a lost, cosmic gem with no end of additional sparkle, coupled with a a twice-baked & loose jointed rhythm and bass workout that really slams. a dj s delight, then, to be mixed up or played raw this one will be gone in the blink of an eye, but treasured for much longer

slightly odd warehouse-kind-of-find from the west coast of usa. tracky beats, driving organ-synth-pads on the b, sometimes almost jacking and definitely a little bit wrong. this 12inch has more real taste of the underground than the regular limited edition hyped labels these days.

a fan of limitations, the maghreban took multi samples from his casio mt-70 keyboard and used only them to make this ep whilst on holiday in north wales last year. most of the tracks were made whilst staying at portmeirion, the strange resort where *the prisoner* was filmed in the late 60s. the maghreban is a fan. the result is more mechanical than previous excursions, dictated by the entirely synthetic source material. no dusty vinyl samples this time. more techno. very early support from ben ufo and lefto.

apart from the rush and hype all around electronic music these days, charmly embraced by the mighty black forrest, is the center of the badnerland, good old freiburg in germany. at first it may be hard to believe that there is more than just sunshine and wine this far south, but you would be surprised by the ever growing request for electronic music in this region. so at this point it just feels right to finally come up with a strong label throughout this exciting movement, you have guessed it: solide.

discobar is coming back with a french addition to the label, based in paris and the third part of the trio antislash. we welcome toba, our dear friend who has signed an original ep for the 2nd release on discobar. we can definitely hear the techno minimal sounds with a touch of deepness. baptiste veilhan aka toba shows us his universe with more than 10 years of experience behind him in production with the trio antislash. this will be his first apparition in solo.

london based us producer lance de sardi joins the hudd traxx fray for the last 12inch before the label hits 50 releases and commence the 10th anniversary celebrations. although there s only three cuts on west country, de sardi more than shows his diversity as a producer and it s a fine addition to a discography that dates back to the 90s.pariah kicks the ep off in fine style with smooth beats, an infectious vocal and lush pads ensure that this will be a big one for the heads. flip for the b side and find a tough acidy number in youth, and a groovy track in race the clock which is made for the dance floor. 2015 is already proving to be a big year for hudd traxx following releases from iron curtis & nachtbraker, and lance de sardi keeps the flag flying high with this solid ep.
