yoruba records welcomes back label favourite mike steva with a well-balanced and forward thinking ep that both engages and pushes boundaries. opening up with ‘love symphonik’, this stutter-stepped jam practically drips with mpc flavour. up next, ‘the message’, a bold proclamation with more straight forward percussion. with added balkan flavour this one is as deep as they come. this is followed with ‘sila’ where steva’s chops are on full display. this engaging and well-constructed groove conjures of feelings of celebration, one that’s easy to imagine taking place in the streets of macedonia. we close with ‘zensko oro’, a deep and moody percussive-led jam. this one speaks of movement, slowly building on itself and reaching a natural climax that enhances and delights the senses of the astute listener. sit back, relax and enjoy this soon-to-be essential piece of the yoruba records canon.

across the ‘hidden paradise’ lp demuja showcases his powerful and emotive production style with dusty, jazz-tinged cuts like ‘still do’, ‘hang on’, ‘you smile feat. ainy’, ‘hear that bassplayer’ and ‘my jazzy wung’ employing the producer’s signature style via soft rhodes, hooky horn samples, organic bass grooves and soaring vocal samples. ‘still do’ and ‘keep doing’ also explore a more dropped- tempo disco aesthetic on the project with funk-infused bass, infectious guitar licks and shuffled, loose drums.

for our next fina records release we welcome french native closed paradise… closed paradise has been on our radar for a while after hearing releases on fools & fables, kolour ltd & whiskey disco. his unique (and mainly vinyl only) productions have featured heavily in our sets over the last few years, if you are familiar with his vibe you’ll know his tracks have a certain french finesse, and these are no exception. so we are extremely happy to finally put this out and add closed paradise praise ep to the fina family.

after the success of the labels first two releases, of paradise welcome baltra into the inner circle for number three, a 2xlp reissue of his no regrets album. originally released in february 2016 as a limited edition cassette on the artists own 96 and forever label, this is the first time any of these tracks have been made available on vinyl. no regrets captures the deep, raw emotion of the big city, taking the preconceived ideas of underground electronic music and lovingly twisting them into something new.

hot creations launch the new ‘paradise on earth’ dj mix series with the first installment coming as a mexico special from paradise residents and label regulars nathan barato and patrick topping. here is a 12” only sampler ahead of the full album featuring two tracks each from nathan barato and patrick topping.

alek s offers up another dose of pensive techno vibes in his “paradise lost” ep. side a opens up with “bold”, a slice of laid back while still pounding techno, boasting zippy synths with an unmistakable analog flavour. it’s closely followed by andres zacco’s rework of “honey wheat”, an apt reconstruction of the original that’s aimed squarely at the dancefloor. the argentinian producer and recent ilian tape alumni dives in with a powerful groove, cutting its way through a suspended atmosphere full of spaced out sounds. over on the b-side we’re greeted with “paradise lost”, a slow-paced melody that gradually shifts into a dreamy groove filled with spaced out drums and abstract delays. last but not least, the original version of “honey wheat” is a somewhat atmospheric, yet functional floor warmer that fits a resigned groove.

after a summer of trips around the globe to play at croatian festivals, balinese beach clubs and a variety of underground establishments, pedro & dicky deliver the latest episode on their own paradise row label. the ep fuses their love of disco, house, italo and balearic sounds and is a proper party-starting, medium sized player with tracks that are ripe for most dance floor moments and occasions. the up-for-it, head-nodding arps and discoid thrills of dance to love get things going in style. while the chunky house and barbarellas inspired vibes of i think i can feel something will really get you moving. this one has been going down a storm in the clubs this summer. and finally, things come to a grande finale with perfecto , which cooks up italian influences with ma foombey style longings to make for a sound as balearic as large hierbas on ice. perfecto!

stone cold classic, although pastime paradise has been reissued a couple of time on compilations every single reissue has used the rocky lp version which is not nearly as good as the original 7inch cut. as we at athens of the north like to do things right we went back to the sony tape vault and had the 7- version transferred for the first time since the o.g 45 was cut. this 45 sounds fantastic, much stronger then the o.g 45 cut so its a no brainer. on the flip we took one of our favourite track from the lp and introduced it to 7inch for the first time, mambotango is a dreamy sountracky latin disco number i used to spin on warm up duty, very new york.

isaiah tapes delivers a sunny work by various artists on its 8th release. same time first labels proper vinyl release starts with soulful instrumental composition of karl lumont fluting and whistling all the way long. signers of 100% silk and fasan records continue melodic trip crossing the deep river and playing warm synth arpeggios and chords. great release to remember the summer and kind vibe.
