angels dust is vocalist flavia ciampi and producer david lampley, both originally hailing from san diego, ca. their bewitching, hypnotizing yet soulful debut summons the same heaviness and somber darkness of portishead & mazzy star. ciampi’s almost-whispered vocals are front and center, anchored by loose swinging beats that are as unnerving as they are catchy. lampley (also known as psychopop, one half of san diego instrumental noise legends skrapez, as well as a frequent gonjasufi collaborator) handles the gritty lo-fi production duties.

the television screen is the retina of the minds eye david cronenberg, videodrome 1983. passarella death squad lynchpin danny passarella collaborates with london techno producer perc to create 5 soundscapes echoing erotica viewed through supercharged synapses to accompany the recent series of artworks created by danny passarella that share similar voyeuristic obsessions. lavishly colourful, the listener is drawn towards them, like an obsessive james woods slithering into his television in the climactic sequence of cronenberg’s horror classic videodrome. available as a limited edition 12- see-through blue vinyl release, the 5 tracks act as an abstraction and intensification of the mood set with their previous collaboration temperature s rising .

borrowed music return to wax see s a release that very nearly didn t see the light of day. between the years of 1995-99, toka project were writing tracks at diy s studio and releasing ep s with their label, s4g. these tracks were stored on dat tape (remember) and left for release at a later date. when the toka boys moved into their own place the dats were misplaced and presumed lost for good. unknown to anyone at the time, the tracks had simply been placed on a hard drive and forgotten about, until now. so, borrowed is very proud to present a slice of unreleased 90s house just the way we like it

for our second vinyl release of the summer, we see slf and jag (a.k.a stephane lefrancois and jameson gilvarry) team up with lexy panterra on >no regrets<.

last year s disco (a fine selection of independent disco, modern soul & boogie 1978-82) compilation from soul jazz offered undeniable proof that few diggers deserve their reputation as much as dutch discotheque scholar disco patrick. given the reception, it s no surprise to see that the london label have commissioned patrick to undertake a second assessment of the genre s lesser known gems with the focus here on the years 1976-80. the first of two double lp vinyl samplers to accompany the full cd release finds pat pulling out gems like the extremely pricey skip jackson curio micro wave boogie and t.k. disco treat cosmic funk by mad dog fire department.

a n a k is the second full-length from los angeles-based underground, ambient beat producer chad valencia, aka yuk, a founding member of my hollow drum dj collective. valencia is also co-founder and head chef of rising filipino pop-up restaurant lasa. danny moore aka pvre matrix is from a generation of young techno producers out of brooklyn who come at the music without preconcieved notions or boundaries in their approach to production and playing live. he is the epitomy of the slash and burn blitzkrieg attitude of new producers popping up under the jmz everyday. while very interesting to see the scene develop this way, few have executed in such a fashion as pvre matrix has. impeccabily produced without losing its sense of urgency or brutality and clocking in at breakneck speed, pvre matrix is out for blood, and his three track debuts prove as such. while you might not catch danny moore in your local big room anytime soon, he is undeniably a force that is present and will crush you regardless.

sources is a brand new series which will examine the output of a number of extremely influential independent u.s. labels throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten most significant beat, a post industrial early 90s techno project from former clock dva man maurizio martinucci and esplendor geonetrico s saverio evangelista. this surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously cd-only late 90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout, the angular rhythms and sheffield bleeps of geometric state for good measure. for the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of autechre, the spacey techno of detroit-via-frankfurt (see amy tekno) and the buzzing intensity of surgeon.

the fourth and final edition of schleiben is an extra special one, bringing forth acollaborative project between colin potter of nurse with wound fame, not waving artist alessio natalizia and brain machine s guido zen. furthermore the series ties with dusseldorf remain, as osnabruck based producer niklas rehme-schluter lines the flip with the beautiful ambient touches of his cass project. the two part efforts from potter, natalizia and zen offer a perfect marriage of methods, with percussion hinting at and techno, while the constant drone influx and disintegration grab your attention, overlapping with rhythmic repetition deeper and deeper. the cass contributions see tracks from the german artists cassette only hiding place album presented on vinyl for the first time and fit snugly into the sonic ethos explored over the previous schleiben releases

modini is back! they come correct with their follow up to their dabj debut turk from last year, this one is an even deeper bass laden, warehouse affair that won t hang around long either. so do not sleep! strictly limited with another cool inlay designed by dan axon. see if you can guess what this one represents.

washerman who is steadily proving his outstanding craft since many years, delivers yet another uncompromising oldskool house cut to shake the floors worldwide. slightly ravey with a bouncing acid bassline riding on a driving beat: a sure play. crowdpleasers remix refers to an end of 80s / beginning of 90s house music style by using retro drummachine sounds and a prominently mixed hypnotic synth melody, which both somehow remind us of old david cronenberg movies. crowdpleaser is an experienced cat and a long time contributor to genevas cultural dance music diversity. he has co-produced the critically acclaimed album *2006* with st plomb and has released many on-the-point tracks ever since. emerging from st plombs debut album country city country, these two remixes almost desperately have been waiting to see the light (on a 10 inch vinyl release!). we think: these two remixes make another swiss crop-of-the-house release!

mfs: observatory is the collaborative guise of italian duo matthias tuchetti, francesco cozzolino. the outfit are relative newcomers having only released material since late 2014 and here we see them take a huge leap in their career stepping into international water via the alphahouse imprint, slotting them alongside heavy hitters like skudge, mark broom, alexi delano, butane, and ricardo villalobos on the stellar roster. with a little helpers release also confirmed in 2015, this is a duo on the rise.

official re-issue of larry heards the housefactors project!another one of his classics!raw and relentless tracks that went so far from any electronic dance music from that period that to date this is still recognized as larry heards signature sound. with his mr fingers and fingers inc. projects going towards club use, this and his gherkin jerks showed another side of him maybe a darker side,but for sure a more raw and different side with music that sounds as if it came from another planet.jacking tracks that to date only larry heard have made like this. many producers have been inspired or tried imitate his sound with all good intentions, but still, gherkin jerks and the housefactors are some of the most unique projects in house music history. play it loud originally came out in 1988 (!) on black market records. and how cool is it to see an official re-issue on the original label by the original guys who did this almost 25 years ago!eternal respect to larry heard and a big thanks to black market records for making this important record available again.

nearly two years ago we released mys/kela by a newish stockholm-based producer who had put out a couple tracks on a couple labels studio barnhus and local talk owned by friends from around town. that produce s name was hnny and a lot has happened since then, both to him and to us. hes gone on to crank out more l.t. 12inches as well as some hes dropped on his yummy and puss imprints, weve gone on to unleash a couple dozen more records and see the list of talent we ve hosted at our parties grow to astounding length. somehow, through it all, we managed to stay close with hnny, whos real name is johan cederberg, and even book him for a couple nyc gigs. the friendship that began so humbly and gently in 2013 has blossomed.
