zodiac wax is unlike other record labels. its founder, zodiac childs, initially conceived of it as a fictional alternative to dance music’s terminal timeline, an environment to nurture music which stands for escapism, music which atomises a story and gives that universe life. after an intimate creative gestation, childs introduces us to his band of digital misfits, whose myriad approaches to dance music are smelted together to form the catalogue of razor-sharp cuts that is faction.

brassfoot makes his dba debut following a number of appearances at the dba presents parties. since breaking through with his apron ep on funkinevens world-leading label in 2015, brassfoot has turned heads with releases on uttu, paul du lac s bio rhythm, and his own seminal nca recordings. on the indentured servitude ep brassfoot showcases his own unique stepping house and techno flavour across six tracks, with time to meditate and reflect between the party-starting peak timers also included. blinds down, crouched over my desk, i switch on my machines. whatever the final result is, i wouldn t even bother unless i was having fun first. sometimes theres just one tiny portion of magic after a long recording session, but its always about the enjoyment first. its dark inside and it influences the mood of the music. it s also dark outside and it s obvious where that leaves its mark. you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

peak:shift (simon flower) returns with a new ep on furthur electronix after two years since his last release on temporary state. furthur electronix are excited to release -standard candles- on the label, with four tracks of the deepest kind. all cuts were previously unreleased, and limited to 200 copies.

incoming! adult only 46 is here and it’s another biggie. chris carrier’s trusty label always delivers the funk and this release is no exception. featuring rhythm&soul plus russian newcomers belogurov and orbit and the bossman carrier himself, it’s comprised four tracks, all with their own unique groove and atmosphere – perfect for anyone who loves deep rhythmic house music with hypnotic sensibilities. rhythm&soul takes one side of the record, the first of his tracks ‘take off’ comes in with sturdy beats pushes things along at a steady pace. his use of ‘live’ sounding percussion is evident throughout, working perfectly alongside a captivating double bass keeping things moving. if you manage to stay still while this is playing then there’s something wrong with you, utterly irresistible. the second track from the madrid-based producer is another upbeat joint. the deep bassline bounces up and down while razor sharp hats slice and dice their way through the lower end. as with most of rhythm&soul’s work, there are lots of nuances and details peppering the track, keeping it interesting from start to finish. on the flip side we have the russian boys belogurov and orbit, who deliver eight minutes of pleasure with ‘jysk’. smooth cosmic grooves rise up off this steaming hot, sensual cut. a naughty allure emanates from this track as it moves forward, subtle pads swirling in the background to suck you in and keep you locked to the groove. and to round things off, chris carrier delivers a typically eccentric roll out. subtle beats are placed over an analogue low end together with a selection of strange sounds direct from carrier’s well-equipped lab. variations in the rhythm and texture keep this one interesting all the way until the end.and there it is, another hot one from the adult only camp… strictly for over 18s!
