now that the smell of summer is about to enter the air and the party crowd is looking forward to the open air season 2009, the weave-lab crew thought it’s about time to unleash our next promising piece of vinyl to produce some global dancefloor hysteria.
This time we’re presenting a new face in Weave Music’s roster.
CALAPEZ from Lisboa, Portugal!
Calapez, who took piano lessons when we was a kid, didn’t feel like music is or will be his destiny at that age. But some years later when he was at university for a couple of years, he then left the chemistry lab work behind for focusing on his new passion – music ! DJing and producing electronic music seemed like a much better idea and suddenly Calapez found himself heading off to London to learn the way of the producer properly.
Manuel Calapez’ story in techno, once back in Portugal, begins in partnership with Filipe “Jackspot” Furão, teaming up as Internal Sync. Together they’ve had releases on labels like Datapunk, Klang Gymnastik, Fortek. Calapez solo debut came on Florian Meindl/Koletzki’s FLASH digital, releasing a track called “It strikes me as a Piano” in the new Flash compilation series.

For Weave Music’s 27th instalment, Calapez comes up with 2 killer tracks. The titletrack “Flight Case”, on A1 is a stunning techno weapon with a slightly minimal approach, that develops an irresistable pounding groove from the very beginning. A2 called “Focus” is giving us the shivers with it’s deep’n crunchy bassline and the spooky psycho soundscape, while it’s hypnotic grooving beat is marching on and on towards some crazy peaktime moments within this tune!

On the flip side we’re proud to have an extraordinary remix of “Flight Case” done by Mr. Ahmet Sisman. The 'multiculti' guy has made his debut on the French/Belgian Label Lessizmore and finally after the Stock5 Release in June 2008 he got the attention of the big names in this scene, like Sven Väth who played his track 'Buiya' at Cocoon Amnesia during the whole season and finally licensed the African influenced tribal track for his next Mix Session 'The Ninth Season'.
