producer and dj, richy pitch moved from uk to ghana, west africa and took on the challenge to record an lp which drew on his many musical experiences during his stay. his goal was to record with local stars and talent and fuse the classic sound of ghanaian music with his own production skills that he had already developed in london. two years later and back to london, richy knocked on bbe records door to deliver ye fre mi richy pitch. first on decks.de!!! >blast corps< opens the ep with a surge of delayed baseline. crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer beneath the full blooded base. it builds insistently, the 4/4 structure is infused with far off blips and the dusty sizzles of lowpitched white noise. on dark star warm dub keeps the sound organic. it’s elemental, the baseline seems enormous enough to have a gravity of its very own and the other elements pull together around its weight. it teases, the breathy elements twitch, fidget, become fully formed but refuse to drop. frank martiniq refuses the obvious, and opts for the discerning. this is the stuff of intrigue, as is the percussive opening to b2 >lovelane<. here a rattling, clattering sequence breaks out into a euphoric, syncopated structure. its dark, playful and danceable techno.

trinity all-stars, aka hipp-e and solomonic sound (rob paine & zack eberz) with this cracking newie on worship. as with a bunch of the recent worship releases, >dem a come< is a dubby deep house number, opening with skipping beats and spacey effects before a wicked sub bass comes into play alongside stabbing synths for a sublime basic channel-esque groove. on the flip, the theme continues with >wind up your bass<, again leading in with hi-hats before a ragga rhythm establishes itself, joined swiftly by another superb dubbed out bassline and echoy beats on a track that puts even maurizio to shame! if you like your dubby gear, this release is essential!

on his new album, pantha du prince, who lives in berlin and paris, claims: music slumbers in all matter, any sound, even silence, is already music. the mission, then, must be to render audible what is unheard and unheard of: black noise, a frequency that is inaudible to man. black noise often presages natural disasters, earthquakes or floods, only some animals perceive this calm before the storm. black noise is something archaic and earthy. the music on black noise balances precariously on the slippery threshold between art and nature, between techno and folklore, which lends it a certain spectral and intangible aspect. black noise also features a couple of special guests - noah lennox of animal collective sings on >stick to my side< and tyler pope of !!! and lcd soundsystem plays bass on >the splendour<.

legowelt explores the darker corners of electronic music in four tracks leaning on eerie vocals and grungy electro beats. his land rovers in astrophysics ep takes us to mysterious environments. we are spacing out on the force of the stars, the universe, etc, and dancing to hypnotic drums on a mystical trip to pago pago west samoa. legowelt not only knows how to to satisfy a dance floor, but is also capable of deeply appealing to the listeners imagination.

mike minds only previous release, >acid machine<, has been tigas most played record since it was made. a full-time turbo employee, he has spent the past few years getting his brain around making techno, and continues to impress us with his output. his debut ep, >resonate<, is something of a departure for our label, and one we are very proud of.
its amazing to have this kind of music coming directly out of turbo hq, it nails a sound that we have always tried to cultivate. minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, and with just enough analog imperfection and warmth to it.
kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.
