ronald burrell s reputation as deep house royalty has long been solidified throughout the years having released on many legendary labels since the late 80 s including nervous, nu-groove, strictly rhythm & many more. working both solo and alongside his brother rheji his output has always caught the interest and ears of dance music aficionados world-wide with a heady mixture of gospel, soul / r&b, jazz, & garage heavily informing his sound. surprising as it is, -it s a boy- was never released, only ever existing as a test pressing! the 4 track ep takes in all the musical influences listed above and flips them into some seriously deep territory. opener -journey- is an epic jam punctuated by an 808 cowbell, beautiful pads, strings and ronald s voice asking us to join him on a journey through our own minds. second cut -feelin jazzy- picks up the pace a little, a stripped back rhythm blessed with some choice, chopped up jazz samples and vocal stabs keeps things moving in the right direction. over on side-b we are treated to the deepest groove of -bedtime story-, which has all the trademarks of a classic burrell production, soulful vocals, melodies and crisp drum programming. closing track -the crib- rounds things with off with a stomping church inspired organ groove, an up-lifting end to the ep. as mentioned above, this is the very first time this underground house classic has ever been released! this record is a real collectors piece and has commanded collectors prices on-line in the past, a real rarity. it has been re-mastered and re-pressed in conjunction with ronald burrell from his original dat tapes and all original label artwork has been preserved.

a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the release of etienne jaumet’s night music, dating from october 2009. his hypnotizing music and enchanting live performances put him directly on the map. it’s just him who is in control of his ship. he moves without complexes from his saxophone to his drum machine (his beloved tr 808) while turning knobs modulating synths, and sending his voice through an echo.la visite, etienne’s brand new album, more luminous and jazzy than its predecessor, has been composed and produced within a two month period in the versatile studio. it became a piece of introspection, mentally as well as physically. in the title track, for which flop wrote the text, we hear etienne travelling through the inside of a body, fantastic voyage style.it is always surprising to see a record taking shape. etienne would arrive at the studio without any precise idea in head, approaching his work rather intuitively. he works standing up, which brings a very different energy than being seated behind a computer polishing up every detail. he is in total mastery of his set-up, ready to capture that short-lived moment of true creation. the only use a computer has for him, is to record his experiments - afterwards being mixed by jerome caron (blackjoy).in between night music and la visite, etienne has not been lazy. not only has he done numerous collaborations (amongst others with joakim, richard pinhas, francois & the atlas mountain) and picked up djing, he has also recorded a new zombie zombie album (rituels d’un nouveau monde) with cosmic neman, as well as the soundtrack loubia hamra. and he worked with artist felicie d estienne d orves on the installation satori. at this very moment, etienne and his saxophone are still part of the tour of james holden.

the maghreban. i saw this name for the first time when ayman sent me afric, out on his own label zoot. i really got into this raw, percussion heavy stuff. asked him some new track for versatile and here is the result: smack, with his rave vs chicago vibe, and two deeper jams. more to come!

birgan is an recording artist from rome /italy. there is not much known about him. his original >essia< is an analog production with bits of symphonic sounding sounds interaction with the much louder spheric bubbles of sound. the remix comes from the echologist aka brendon moeller known fro his releases worldwide. he leaves his traces of acid in a remix that builds up the tension while he plays. using repetition and constant changes on another level he manages to keep the remix soulful.

one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

a twenty year break away from making music is almost unheard of especially within electronic music circles, but that is where antenna happy finds himself with pinto. clocking in at 9.09 pinto draws from psychedelia and techno set straight for the sun. this kaleidoscopic sonic excursion has all the makings of a cult classic, and heads up the debut 12- release on newly founded imprint reinhardt records. taking lead on the b-side an entirely different affair in the shape of fallen. this is benchmark electronic music, as arpeggiators take flight mirrored against hypnotic acid bass, for a journey into the outer house territories. closing the ep, spark holds the reigns. conceived within the same stretch as pinto, however it wasn t until some months later that spark took on its full form. emotive modular synths lay the groundwork, connecting the dots between low-slung techno and house music, culminating in a track that sits in neither genre camp. spark will appear on the digital release only. the ep title track takes its name and inspiration from paintings by antenna happy s three-year-old daughter, whose birth inspired him to return to making music. close-ups of these paintings can be seen in the artwork for the release.

sleeparchives influential minimalistic power in combination with the unique, endlessly evolving sound of mike parker, appear together for the first time on rptch04 split ep.
sleeparchive starts off on the a side, creating industrious textures with *fifth station* followed by two (endless) loops that lead to the a2 *white angel breadline*, a mesmerizing track with the classic sleeparchives timbre and brightness.
mike parker is responsible for one of the most recognizable sound of techno which is characterized by sublime, fluid atmospheres and never-ending hypnotic sequences. repitch recordings introduces him on the b-side with *flying nerves* and *lustrum*, leaving an indelible mark on the eleventh release of the italian berlin based label.

after few nolder, italian fellow lehar aka lorenzo esposito is the second new signing for connaisseur this year. apart from his residency at the cirq club in venice and regular bookings at some of the best clubs and parties in italy and malta, lehar truly is a very talented producer as well. some of you might have heard the free download for lehars remix of kollektiv turmstrasses classic *tristesse* which has caused some attention on him the past weeks and was therefore the perfect precursor for this release. his demo impressed us very much and both titles really hit our taste. and as though this wasn t enough, together with his demo he delivered a remix by his friend and probably hottest producer of the moment: mario basanov, head of the label boso and mostly know under his moniker ten walls.

amsterdam based house head nachtbraker made his first appearance on dam swindles infamous heist recordings earlier this year with his fantastic debut ep. we are very pleased to welcome him to our dirt crew family and to release his second record. being best known for his smooth and deep production with jazzy and soulful elements he also added these ingredients carefully in these 4 new tracks

l 33... get acquainted as we think it is a name you will be hearing a lot more of in the future. hailing from the creative d&b hotbed that is bulgaria, l 33 has been creeping up the ranks with covert diligence and a sonic attitude that is going to take him right to the top. already enjoying big love and support from scene titans drum&bassarena, here we find him making his program debut with two scorching underground future-focused work-outs. recognise... it is time, once again, to get with the program!

across seven tracks of widescreen ambient music, 45 minutes of visuals shot over four years in multiple countries, seven photographs, and a multi-sensory, multiple channel live performance, willits has created something which might better be thought of as an experience than a simple album. opening features willits latest music since ancient future, his 2012 collaboration with japanese pianist ryuichi sakamoto, and his recent production and mastering work on tychos awake. the vibrant, enveloping sounds we have come to expect from him are on full display. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

tian gjevik (eod,cn), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music -sports/tools-. he contacted one of the two composers called dildrian schrodinger. he has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with weme records. we can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980 s. it is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.

new york endless is the first appearance on vinyl of new jersey born new yorker dan selzer. you may not have heard of him, but many of your favourite producers, bands and djs massively respect his record collection and ear. many of the sounds he has spent years exploring and djing can be heard via the three tracks that make up the strategies ep. elements of techno and house, idm, italo-disco and new wave, cosmic and kosmiche, krautrock and a certain debt to the new york school of minimalist composers all appear. the music is pure and (mostly) analog while still centred around accessible melodies and clean synthesized tones. golf channel every time!

ocoeurs latest album a parallel life finds franck zaragoza showcasing his adeptness at fusing thoughtfully crafted melodies with twitchingly syncopated techno. in a recent interview berlin music portal kultmucke introduced zaragoza something of an idm prodigy and while thats a fair summation due to his preference for malleable beatwork and his use of heavily processed field recordings there is more there than simple glitchery. zaragozas melodies, while often shrouded in hazes of static, affect the cinematic minimalism of modern composition. these such comparisons put him stylistically hovering somewhere between the likes of arovane and max richter which is no meager feat. a parallel life aches, breathes, pulsates and is forever churning. it has a subliminal soul that is all too often a casualty of electronic music of this style. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

teilstueck (german for part or segment) is the next excerpt of jacob stoys ongoing attempt to translate his surroundings into music. its his second ep for uncanny valley and is even more multifaceted than his debut redenswart from 2012

number 3 on ruff draft comes from louis guilliaume. having met louis back in 2009 and followed his music since way before then, it was an exciting day when we received these tracks from him. known more for his harder edge techno productions on labels such as soundtravels, bio rhythm holland, teng, sd holland and a remix on skudge, here he edges slightly away from that harder sound. the tracks vary from deep, groovy and meandering house to a beatless soundscape reminiscent of early larkin and pullen to a powerful kick drum driven sermon.
