nice price deal !!! it s been a big shock for all of us to hear the sad news that our good friend andreas gehm passed away this year. his last big project is the -worldwide electronics- - series on his own label -cologne underground- which brings his friends from all over the world together. the idea of „worldwide electronics“ is to combine music from all over the world on one album (in fact, there will be a vol.2 too). the second idea was to combine well known artist with newcomer. when gehm, who runs cologne underground together with dbh distribution, ask the artist for tracks, he don’t ask for any specific style. the artist were free to deliver whatever they want. so at the end it ended up from deep house (oldschool definition, not edm definition) to acid. „worldwide electronics vol.1“ contains one track from greece (dimdj), germany (hardfloor), netherlands (baz reznik), england (perseus traxx), columbia(s.valencia) 2 tracks from japan (takeshi kouzuki and jin-cromanyon) and the first of hopefully a row of collaboration tracks from legowelt (netherlands) and elec pt.1 (germany) as „gehm & wolfers).

african scream contest’ is the third release by the analog africa label. the project initially took off in august 2005 when label owner and vinyl collector samy ben redjeb arrived in cotonou, benin, “without any special expectations, just hoping to lay my hands on few good records - what i found in the process cannot really be described in words-. this first trip was followed by eight more to the region. thirty months and few thousand records later analog africa proudly presents this 14-track compilation. redjeb conducted 16 interviews in various cities in benin and togo with artists, producers and sound engineers to reconstruct the history of the 70s music scene for the 44 pages booklet which also features many rare photographs directly received from the artists. delve into the forgotten raw and psychedelic afro sounds from 70s benin and togo and experience the african scream contest. very, very limited copies in, and this might notcome in anymore.... tip!

Æ is a particularly icelandic form, pronounced “i” in english, bjarki thinks it just looks good. here it is a selection of music that is at its core quite simple, with restrained instrumentation, made on hardware and features a selection of older works and the most recent produced just weeks ago. bjarki is from iceland. born and raised. despite the fact that bjarki is known for making extremely powerful dance floor tracks he doesn’t seem to belong to any particular genre. something this triptych of lps demonstrates very well. his music is at times cinematic and there’s a story behind each track. bjarki’s music always has something to do with him personally, but he’d rather the listener lose themselves in the music than pay much attention to the man behind them. either on a record or to one of his ever evolving live sets.

there’s a new (or old?) family of funk in town and their history is kind of a mystery. rumor has it the le’trells came close, but never were able to secure a record deal in their time. curious and unable to locate any master tapes, it took a younger generation of le trell boys to breath life back into the grooves and deliver an modern update to that which never was. on the one is sure to be a modern funk anthem certified floor filler already making the rounds in chicago, nyc, detroit and la with a moody sax filled b side that hits just as hard in the club as it does in the whip! heres to hoping the le trell boys prayers are finally answered!

ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the shimmy sham sham sessions. when people talk about summertime vibes its most often associated with the obvious: good weather, sweet drinks, waterside locales, and a much-needed departure from the daily grinds of work, school, and off-season doldrums. one thing most tend to overlook however are the smells. it’s the smell of the summer season that really infects the spirit being attacked by the olfactory seducing aromas of suntan lotions, watermelon, ck one summer spray overuse, piña colada mixes, bbq grill emanations, and perhaps most importantly of all, sweat. dripping, oozing, sticky buckets of lovely sweat everywhere. whether that is happening poolside, in the bedroom, or, as the case clearly is with this ridiculous three-tracker of party bombs, on the dance floor. the whole wide world of disc jockeys now have access from everything to dont stop the music a slick power wash of classic french disco, to a rollicking jazz piano-led jam by an operator hereby known as professor twirl-hair. in the heat of the night, let those sweaty numbers melt your worries. no top hat and gator shoes required, just shake that ass!

are there any aliens out there? this monster 1976 lp from nassau s munnings brothers aka beginning of the end is a stone cold classic. fact. well deserving of a place in any record collection! this, their second lp (with 1971s infamous funky nassau preceding it) features the brothers original, fresh sound a mixture of tough funk rhythms, bahamian soul and flourishes of jazz and rock is an extremely well executed and produced body of work. not surprising considering the band were one of the bahamas foremost musical outfits. the brothers musical backgrounds could not have been any more fitting, they cut their teeth playing regularly alongside the likes of nat king cole and count basie at their fathers well known nightclub the cat and the fiddle, what we get on this lp however is not jazz, but lean, melodic soul music! original copies of this seminal lp can change hands for 100 s on the used/second hand market and is a solid constant at the tops of the wants lists of record aficionados. the lp has been illegally reissued numerous times without any care or attention being taken to retain or respect the quality of the amazing music contained within. not so on this occasion, this is a fully legit, sanctioned reissue done in conjunction and with the assistance of miami s tk disco empire. now is the perfect time to revisit the deep, soulful sounds of the munnings brothers endeavours, a truly sublime collection of songs, drenched in sunshine, masterfully produced and performed with pure vitality. a truly classic album. sounding as fresh as it did almost 40 years ago. jump in the water!

new sounds from an old friend... i d been running franklin de costa s records for years, but after i played for his party in berlin a few years back we kept in touch. he runs a club night called mother s finest which puts on artists like tessela, truss, untold, dj fett burger and more, as well as releasing singles under his own name on labels like killekill and curle, and, as mudkid, beautiful tracks on greta cottage workshop. the three trax built for this ep on not so much are, like anything fresh and futuristic, hard to pin down in words. sssooo is a kind of detuned chattering b-boy cut that slides sideways between dimensions while always driving forward. mldk is another one for any dancers with moves.

ixvlf is back at it again following the language of mini-album released earlier this year as part of our ongoing tape series. pushing it further from where we last left off, connor clasen’s vinyl debut reflects our ever growing desire to re-interpret club music in its most primitive and cartilaginous nature. while cleverly obscuring any reference to a specific period of time, involuntary movement shows a sense of the american-based producer stretching disorienting imagery over the existing landscape of proto-industrial — matching the visual interpretation of ailsa ogden undertaking the artwork by way of a new collaboration to be expanded over a handful of releases — where unpolished synthesizers and rhythm machines collide and bawl in a controlled crash. it is an exercise of existing in various states of detachment, a fixation on mechanical repetition and unpredictable behaviors through the haze of helium laughter. definitely one for the animals.

hard previously unreleased dubplate cuts on side a, i roy vocal & dub on the same rhythm on the b-side! legendary channel 1 dubplate music. this version of -free black man- by earth & stone was scrapped for release in favor of the softer version that eventually appeared on their -kool roots- album, but this heavy cut achieved infamous dubplate status thru play on uk sound systems. in the case of this tune, it seems only dubwise cuts made the rounds, as we ve not heard (or heard of) a full vocal. and like many tunes not pegged for release from back in the day, mixdown masters were never kept, so only dubplates remain to haunt us. here you get two hard dubwise cuts, remastered from dubplate (punters beware!), raw as ever. on the flip side, i roy s vocal, the only released cut on this rhythm, as well as the only released dub, as appeared on the -musical dub attack.-
