lxury returns with an all greco remix package of square 1 featuring deptford goth. joe goddard starts off the record with his quirky adaptation of square 1, followed by the mysterious v.o.x and their spacey dub edit. on the b side george t & jean gabriel becker bring their 90s dat loop sound to the table and to round things off we have the original cut of square 1 featuring deptford goth. prepare for 4 tracks of peculiar melodics, 90s dat loops, and blissed out cuts...

the second release we do with french artists upwellings aka vincent raude who is professor of modern art at the academy of brest and has been recording music since 1996. his ep comprised two tracks. a-side >dubbin at the strobe< feat. michael zerang shows a nice interaction of drums and sounds developing a profound deep mood. drum parts were recorded in chicago by michael zerang, a real jazz legend who played a lot with peter brötzmann and joe mcphee, hamid drake. the flip side >lighthouse dub< has the aura of an place which is extremely isolated. the sound is at times extremely pulled back and melancholic and holds a sentiment that reminds us a bit of joy divisions >we are the young men<. the track undergoes a transformation beatwise when going more uptempo.

next up on the clone crown series and hailing from the post-industrial city of nancy, france, is bad boy and multi-instrumentalist funkateer gary gritness aka slikk tim, bringing us the adventures of gary gritness chapter 1. spread over two separate 12inches, gary delivers a cyberfunk joyride with 9 shit hot instrumental electro funk tracks with a cinematical feel, blending nowadays influences from the streets of detroit, oakland and atlanta around his trademark soulful sound.

released in 1979 queen samantha�s �take a chance� has gone down in disco history as an all time classic. produced by former aphrodite�s child bassist harris halkitis and featuring elongated naked �dj friendly� drum breaks and uplifting vocals and synths the record was sure to be a hit in discotheques on it�s initial release. the record was a huge success and has been sampled, edited and re-appropriated countless times, it even captured the ears and minds of the nascent hip hop movement that was brewing in new yorks bronx neighbourhoods a few years after it�s release with afrika bambaataa including it on his game changing �death mix� session with jazzy jay in 1983. both sides of the 12&#8243,,,,,, are bona-fide disco gold, pairing queen samantha�s soaring vocals with the stripped back, percussion heavy back drop of halkitis and his band. �take a chance� still sounds as fresh, epic and driving today as it did in �79 and still finds favour with forward thinking disco dj�s who include it in sets now. this is only one of many underground disco classics that the mighty miami based tk disco label brought to the world, officially re-mastered, re-pressed and re-issued in conjunction with joe stone / tk disco
