rare strictly groove #01 is the first chap. of a series of 12 inches which include the best unreleased tracks from artists already in the labels roster and very close friends. this v/a open with *waltz to share* by avenir, a quite old track from the very superb catalogue of our favorite producer from palermo. modern and fresh deep house, enriched by the beautiful voice of clara and some precise arrangements of space sounds and more vocals. also we find two tracks by salvatore stallone, one of the artist is influencing more at this time, with his unique and amazing jazzy touch and incredible eclectism. *etes* and *brian off* are both very concrete underground pearls, inspired by masterpieces of the past. but the main theme of this release is dedicated to *the king* by daughters & sons. some expert house rhythms and groove with his name looped in an involving memory.

jessy lanza s debut album *pull my hair back*, co-written and co-produced with jeremy greenspan from junior boys, is a 2013 flagship for what electronic pop could sound like, stripped of bloated, behaviourist impulses that treat listeners like lab rats. it is graceful and erotic without the gratuitous close ups, icey and sensual, sweet without rotting your teeth, emotional but with enough blue glow to pull your heart strings. jessys voice flutters through the synths seductively, insistent without the over-singing and grating choruses that plague so much contemporary pop. jessy lanza has a background as a singer and skilled piano scholar, and the duo share a mutual love of collecting the old hardware synths and drum machines that grace this collection of songs. transecting r&b, house, disco and 80s studio rock, the production is immaculate, reminiscent of early junior boys, treading that fine line between cold futurism and the r&b that jessy and jeremy are infatuated with.

black rose is back with an all italian line up on their latest 12inch release which is the seventh in their string of vinyl releases thusfar. wilson records owner fabio monesi opens the ep with his raw >tapes around you< jam. the ever so mysterious hissman is on remix duties for this one. italian star on the rise rio padice takes over with his ganymede jazz club which holds some of the rawest hissy club vibes around. salvo castelli opens the b side with his lost in miami burner while alex magno and antonio del prete close down the ep with the acid chugger tale.

22 year old hackman has been one of the most rewarding artists to emerge from the uks ever-shifting dance music landscape in recent years. debuting in 2010 with sublime singles for ramp offshoot ptn (more than ever, made up my mind), and more recently releasing an ep for greco roman featuring the magnificent close, followed by agree to disagree for ptn, hackman has won fans across the board, from nick grimshaw to mary anne hobbs to skream, and the gilles peterson approved forgotten notes. currently in the studio working with a series of vocalists for his upcoming debut album scheduled for release on ramp later this year, hackman drops a 12 inch, of hazy summer vibes with fists of ham, backed with a broken techno remix from fourth wave artist felix lenferink for 2084 records.

gilesku records is back with two eccentric minimalistic techno tracks delivered by onur ozer. obviously heavily influenced by peak hours in the club, these tracks will serve their purpose right, providing a perfect hook to drive people further in a higher state of consciousness. by paying close attention to detail, he manages to provide music where he bravely paints fat techno sounds with minimalistic elements, layering them by unconventional noises in the background. a peak time material!

a four-track ep, bemired and evil-eyed, but with room for arnaldo to breathe out and flex a little after his spooked, sparked contribution to blank slate 001. the opener is a dubwise bubbler, with spaced-out keys, free woodblocks, shuffling hi-hats and elastic 303 bass. atmosphere breached is more jazzy and messed-up, running funky organ through sizzling fx, syncopated handclaps and filtered groans. the flip is dancefloor-trained. our pick of the bunch, verano is in a dark, hissing, aqueous world of its own, chugging and stomping, with relentless tambourines, crunchy filtered tribal drums and detuned horns. heads down to close: lost voices and a 909 kick, chattering hi- hats and rattling percussion administer the licks.

with the track *time machine*, dj and producer michael nielebock provided us with a fantastic debut on our deep circus label. his first success came for the berlin resident with the track pure visionson the treibstoff label, which entered the charts and the record cases of many international djs. his productions all are characterized by a driving groove, mixed with spherical elements, strings and synth-sounds. with *time machine* he also managed to bring this mixture to perfection in cooperation with his studio buddy leevey, thus creating a track which will make the day and caress the ears of many outdoor dancers this summer.
the second track on the ep is a wonderful remix by burak sar aka sis, who recently released his second album *confidance* on his label cocolino. the sis remix stays close to the original track, but reduces the spherical sounds and puts a greater focus on the basses, resulting in a great piece with a lot of deepness. nice!

cardiff massive giovanni branciamore and bradley albertides heard nicoles amazing sultry folky tones on the flowers of flesh & blood album and just had to work up some nip and bop to sit with her voice. nicole loved it and this is it! we are not too sure what to label this music under but tags of future nip hop ambient folk bop seem to be close. sarah burgess is a secret forest folky vocalist from york with a super soft ambient tone to her voice which was crying out for a touch of flyypost nip. luv*jams ambient alter ego flyypost slides out some wobbled out bass lines, floaty synths and a 68bpm raw kick drum all gliding on a bed of waves with sarahs stunning memories vocal. what style of music do we label this as? neo italo nip folk acid whop?

oskar offermann and his frequent collaborator and label mate edward are two of the brightest rising stars in contemporary deep house music. as head of the esteemed white imprint, offermann has an envious catalog spread across his own label, aim, and japans storied mule musiq, edward has mostly confined his releases to white apart from a single drop on the mysterious giegling, and some outstanding remixes on other powerhouse labels. since their appearance in 2007, the pair of berliners has only one collaboration record between them in spite of a close association, large individual discographies, and frequent pairings behind the decks. it is thus with great ceremony that thema announces their north american vinyl debut with the four-track ep, verses.

it is no secret that ben watt has chosen to close his acclaimed label buzzin fly to new music after ten great years as one of the uks leading dance independents. but the label has chosen to go out with a bang with one final single. unearthed from the vaults are two dazzling tracks from cornerstone artists, rodamaal, and manoo and francios a. rodamaals fortune was originally completed back in 2007 but scheduling problems prevented it from being released at the time. produced by the franco-portuguese trio (rocco, darkmountaingroups alex santos and manoo) it is a stark but emotionally-charged deep-techno masterpiece, that deserves its place alongside their other classics for the label, musica feliz and insomnia. on the flip, and originally produced in 2005, is other places a long-lost track by manoo and francois a. full of summer shimmer and heavy bass tones, it was produced by the duo during their heyday at the label, and was a secret favourite of label boss, ben watt. two perfect swansongs. buzz buzz.

piticu and jeefo, most valuable updates to the thriving romanian scene, are sharing sides at the latest release by arma label. warm morning beats in >arzi unde< and >moa phoa< give the idea of what piticu is doing to late dancefloors getting people on board for continuous euphoric journeys. jeefo develops his sound as if it were a motion. sharp and focused >attack< is a persistent virtual flight that goes through the array of stunning futuristic objects. >limonada< has more close-ups and the intimacy much needed to enjoy the beauty of idealistic soundscapes

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.

2013 edition in bonbon marbled unique ltd re-press. one day in 2008, two close friends were sitting together, probably they were working at the studio to finish some tracks. and while they talked about music, they came across this song again and again. perhaps its tanitas voice, perhaps the melody attended by that doleful bassoon pipe. anyway, it is just one of those musical moments from the late eighties that have remained in thought since childhood.

antigone is an artists coming from the depth paris producing and digging for several years now. the three tracks are a travel in to different style of techno with the intention to reach a certain emotion that is close from nostalgia and really deep feeling. the challenge of this work was to find a good balance between sound and colour, focusing on an old sci-­&#8208,,,fi landscape. with a really mature perception this young artist is developing his own sound, a detroit atmospheres, openly characterize this ep, but it remains antigone work at the end with all his sense of details and perception.

for our third release, we are joining forces with bristol stalwart - kowton - finding the link between two genres that are very close to our hearts - grime & techno. built as an ode to ruff sqwads raw 2 da core, kowton is able to build up and take down the rough and rugged aesthetic that is found within both genres in just over 5 minutes. on the flip, taking on the original is blawan and pariahs collaborative project - karenn (sheworksthelongnights). keeping true to the spirit of uk techno, they manage to translate the raw and grimey quality of the original through a heap of analogue gear, all in one take.

it has been exciting to watch outboxx take shape over the past two years, chasing their vision for a more meaningful kind of deep house music via jakes intense attention to detail, matts way with the keys and naomis arresting voice. it has been a steady progression, reaching out to select labels but keeping things largely close to home on idle hands, immerse and brstl, while their tracks have developed in ever more confident strides.

a yawning desert covers and oppresses a distant daemon-sphere pregnant with the stuff of a thousand earths. clouds of the same hue and attitude as the infinite sands gradually dominate the sky, possessed of a malign intelligence. a trans-generational caravan cuts an unforgiving line through the dunes in a fruitless mission to close its great mad circle, forever missing by just miles. it is a roving, innumerable harem in liege to an unsexed tyrant who sings them this song, reproduced here by resonant hole emissaries jeanne vomit-terror and ed sunspot, as the caravan commits the abominable act of transgressing the horizon into the infant sky-desert “above.” carl calm’s “gulf of night” mix is a monster, as is the great mike simonetti’s perverse interpretation!
