norwegian producer thomas urv drops the småskansen ep on his own ploink imprint this april. one of norways leading techno prospects, thomas urv has promoted and played at countless events across the country featuring the likes of jeff mills, juan atkins, derrick may, carl cox, richie hawtin, robert hood and kevin saunderson. when not delivering his three deck performances across scandinavia, spain, france, holland, canada and the uk (for fabric and bestival) the norse producer is firmly focused on ploink and his studio activities. *fuktig sol* leads the ep and is a sinister cut led by a morose hook and syncopated rhythm whilst whirring atmospherics add to a looming tension. the dark undertones continue in *stell/less* although steady kicks construct a vibe better suited towards peak time dancefloor madness. tying up the release *sånn isbre* delivers a frenzy of layered sounds that evolve over the course of a lengthy 16 minutes.

following gary becks hard-hitting remix of dj rush >she is fine< on bek014, he returns with an ep of solely his own productions. >rascal< brings forward two of his biggest tracks in recent times. the title track, >rascal< returns to garys more familiar sound with swelling pads andsynths clad in fading loops and textures. the track varies in intensity but maintains the groove, as it balances a peak time feel with an almost reflective ambiance. >video siren< is stripped and straight-up techno. it avoids over-complication by keeping the elements to an absolute minimum, highlighting his ability to create atmosphere, tension and drive, using a less is more attitude.

first up here is kenloto, a chunky bit of bass driven house with crisp perc. it builds to a nice tense peak with lots of loose, jumbled textures and will make for a fine bit of peak time listening. the other original is whack, which is another tough house cut with firm bass, old school new jersey snare patterns and rolling drums that are rich, warm and rubbery. miguel lobo s remix is a more spritely thing with lithe chords, colourful synths and and a pent up energy that just never stops giving. closing out the fantastic package is paul c & paulo martini who remix kenloto into a trippy affair with ghoulish voices, hard hitting drums and lots of dark wave energy that will carry you late into the night.

the a1 was never a big surprise. mattias fridell s consumed for profit was one of the tracks of the year, and surely fridell s personal best track, and was played by anyone who at least plays a bit of techno in their sets. the usual fridell quality of standard and a tight synth line! a2 sees french artist electric rescue s quarries in the a. mochi remix. a peak-time banger, slapping the synth stabs right into your face. this one always gets the floor jumping. the b-side kicks off with label-head advance human s pure , stripping things down to some essential moody but slamming techno, right up there amongst his best productions. b2 has +platform s mosses closing things off, and as we came to know and love from +platform, it s out there, dubby and dreamy techno, born for those deeper berghainesque floors.

*sintetizzatrice* is the first recorded document of the newly founded collaboration between spectrum spools veteran donato dozzy and female vocalist anna caragnano.
though his solo work, and in his collaboration with giuseppe tilleci as voices from the lake, dozzy has achieved some of the most remarkable vistas contemporary electronic music has seen in the last decade. by removing himself from his areas of mastery to shift his focus on the voice, he has achieved a new peak. *sintetizzatrice* is the first work on spectrum spools featuring anna caragnano, a vocalist based in rome.

creme organization turn to the mysterious ivvvo and lisbon producer lake haze for a new single that comes backed with a remix from label regular legowelt. the single 1 is a hard hitting but fuzzy, misty and hugely spacious house track with deep jacking drums, haunting synths spiralling all around and freaky voices buried deep within. hugely atmospheric and lovably imperfect, it then gets remixed by legowelt. his version of the track flips it on its head, strips back some of the white noise fuzz and reimagines it as a driving techno cut with impish chords, retro arps and high pressure stabs. its a peak time bomb and ensures that this release is a high impact one indeed.

the globally trendsetting house and techno family that is visionquest now turns to a new pairing of sonny fodera & gene farris for their debut ep on the label. entitled ‘we work it’, the two-track affair comes with a remix by visionquest man lee curtiss. australian sonny fodera has been at the sharp end of the dance music scene for years now, clocking up huge hits both solo and with green velvet aka cajmere, releasing albums such as afterparties & aeroplanes and appearing on cajual, defected, suara and many more top labels. gene farris, of course, is a chicago house legend who has been active since the nineties, runs his own farris wheel label and has released close to one hundred definitive eps on relief, soma and many others. up first, ‘we work it’ is a lithe ritual of house funk with bent synths and slick mid tempo drums. a spoken word vocal snippet muses on the intake of various substances and the drums roll on infectiously below. it’s sure to be a standout anthem in the months to come given that vocal line and the spiritualness of the keys all around only adds to the effect. the first remix comes from lee curtiss. this one is a much quicker and more peak time bit of tech house with textured, dynamic bass and plenty of drum fills. it’s an involved, more cosmic and tense take on the original, that will build great pressure on the dance floor. all in all this is another on point package from visionquest that will get played far and wide

nail provides the lead track for fofs latest vinyl only excursion - originally produced in the same time period as the classic tracks on the ode rammel reissue ep earlier in the year, glazed lay dormant on one of nails dats for many years before being rediscovered and given its first airing now on fof. chunky roughed up house beats are the order of the day here, a real peak time groove. new talent harry mccanna, resident at londons infamous undersound nights, debuts with act 1, a beautifully subtle bassline driven groove that rises above the pack with its super warm pad lending the track a warm and fuzzy hypnotic edge. romanian talent zece kicks off the flipside with the most contemporary offering, a breakbeat laden groove with a fx laden vocal snatch underpinned by that all important b-line whilst sonodab rounds things off with a beautifully deep and melodic slice of electro on brown study, the percussive elements giving rise to a hazy melodic pattern for those early hour excursions.

after a series of prized splits and collaborations, m_rec ltd s own max_m returns with dissertation , his latest fully-fleshed solo effort. the kidnapper bell was his last ep for m_rec ltd. the avid vinyl lover and collector has since put his -maximalist- values to work sharing wax with the likes of fabrizio lapiana of attic music, as well as with newcomers wrong assessment. not one to rush things, dissertation then comes at a peak time for max_m and m_rec ltd, representing the culmination of a ceaseless dedication to the type of stolid, hypnotic brand of techno intrinsic to both chief and label.

theres no doubt that the apollonia trio are on fire, 2014 has been a whirlwind of berlin studio production, to reigning in ibiza, to dropping their debut album tour à tour to a rapturous reception. but straight back to the label with a new ep, they proudly present breaking talent diego krause. hailing from east berlin, krause already caused a stir amongst the heads with releases on his own label unison wax and co-owned beste modus, unison wax 02 swiftly landing itself a 4/5 on resident advisor and pricking up the ears of the apollonia boys. serving up three quality tracks very much in-keeping with apollonias own sound, you can easily imagine any one fitting perfectly into the later hours of their b2b2b sets. * right about now* establishes its presence with a powerful bassline and solid clap, before deep swirling synths enter, as does an echoing xylophone to truly euphoric effect. the slightly eerie, but mostly intoxicating, * dreams* brings a subtle groove and conjures up those early morning moments, while * manitu* the most peak-team of the three, is a bouncy number full of positive energy and a strong tech-house edge, that will go down a treat on any dancefloor

dense & pikas kneaded pains label arrives kicking and screaming into 2015 with another raw n raucous ep, this time from blake stone. deftone sets the scene nicely with a nice slab of heads down warehouse techno, good 2 me uses a well known sample for an altogether more sunnier track whilst flipsides cruel tone tightens up the beats for a very modern sounding slice of peak time action whilst affected once again delves in the darker side of things with a low-down dirty stomper.

it s a big honor that the former member and -minister of information- of underground resistance from detroit alan oldham aka dj t-1000 does a remix for this release. living between berlin and detroit, alan is a mastermind in electronic music and has pitched this track to a strong minimal -detroit meets berlin- version. the gunman remix is a more dramatic sub bass story. with snipped parts of the sigrid elliot vocals, a volumized organ and fx sounds, gunman gives you a blast for the dancefloor peak time. simon beeston, a music lover from new zealand who s also living in berlin, does a deep remix. with drums and a nice sub bass, he s showing his style.

the firth release on the ever impressive boso imprint comes from atelier francesco, with few nolder returning to the label to deliver a stunning remix. a peak time electronic masterpiece, the highly distinct *akaino* starts on the dark tip we have come to expect from the boso catalogue, subtly building into a chorus of wholly uplifting synths and choir voices.

we are pleased to announce the release of dr burisch by perseus trax on crimes of the future. after releases on bunker, mos & chiwax (to name a few), the ep is a four track soundtrack to some forgotten alien abduction documentary... maybe. starting off with rainy tuesday and its skipping pitch shift melodies, and followed by lotus protocol and its almost richard d. hook. on the flip we have the title track, slow and building, very much the theme of the piece. the ep finishes with electrical surge, and its static crackle of radio interference and damaged power lines.

continuing uk producer clerics double-header on figure, figure 65 offers up 4 more brand new tracks from the sought after young talent. following on from his wonderfully diverse collection of tracks on figure 64, clerics skills continue to shine in this second chapter. after a beautifully sensitive chord-led introduction in the form of >shifted reality<, showing off some rare after-hours vibes from the cleric studio, we hit the peak time once again with >plexus<. a stripped and perfectly balanced moment of percussive dj tool glory, all we need are claps, kicks and fx to get the room working overtime!
