12 Inch
30.08.11
one of the stand out moments and most in demand club tracks from the simon baker >traces< album returns in remixed form, alongside the vinyl edit of simons original. its taken us a while to get pokerflat head honcho and all round german house music legend steve bug on board for a remix, but its worth the wait as he delivers a lesson in refined, deep house music. next up burnski and robert james deliver a mammoth, hypnotic jam that twists and turns for 10 minutes and still leaves you wanting more.

its impossible to describe without metaphors what happens when listening to the debut album >behaving like a widower< by yoko duo. holger zilske and august landelius draw bright paintings withcool colors, framed by a mosaic ofdelicate glitches. this music comeswithout any irony or cynicism. thisalbum guarantees a prominentplace in the gallery of soulful legacyof the electronica genre for the yoko duo. vinyl tastes better.
THRILLA IN MANILA, DEEP BLUE SEA (10 INCH)
10 Inch
29.08.11
already played by sven väth, seth troxler. joris voorn, tiefschwarz, reboot... the london resident ross evana already excelled as dj at pacha nyc, at ministry of sound london or in the we love space series in ibiza. his track >thrilla in manila< first takes its time to build up before it sets a tremendously powerful exclamation mark on the dancefloor with its tropical-hypnotic percussions. with its second track, the ninth edition of cocoons 10 inch -series leads us to the land of the midnight sun. the two stockholm-born cousins alex caytas and aleks patz have started their musical collaboration only in 2007 but can already look back on a hand full of very good produced releases for the stuttgart-based label parquet recordings and the italian label caremella, as well as on remixes for martin dawson/king roc and voltique. >blue sea< shows the duos affinity to the energetic deep house techno of the nineties: with its organ sound, blues vocals and a highly infectous bass line, this track could almost pass as a modern and uncluttered version of st. germain, being predestined for warm summer nights. this is how techno sounds in 2011.
IT FEELS WRONG (LEE CURTISS REMIX)
12 Inch
29.08.11
london based james what is a well known musician treading the more left-field and creative end of the tech house spectrum. his numerous eps alongside dan berkson have become poker flat classics in recent years and so we are happy to welcome him in his first solo effort for the label. lead cut >it feels wrong< fuses classic analog bass with lively synth work and satisfyingly complex question-answer passages that whisk us away into a sweaty, late night vibe immediately. berlin based lord of the witching hour lee curtiss adds his touch on the remix side with a killer acidic treatment of >it feels wrong<. tense, soulful and teasing, this warm and super playable version will no doubt find its way to freaky dancefloors everywhere. >in the dark< slowly builds edgy, spooky elements in a deep, dark and sexy trip. combining smooth chords and keys, with trippy synths and sinister vocal snippets, whats bright and clear production works wonders in this slow-burner.
with influences ranging from early house and disco to turntablism and techno, dallas, txs brett johnson successfully straddles the line between knowledgable >thinking mans< dj and genuine, primal floor-filler. bretts sound is best known as groovy, bumping house with a hearty dose of techno elements, crafted and mixed in a way that is truly identifiable as his own. over the past ten years brett has released serious, futuristic sounding house music on numerous labels including classic, freerange, lazy days, and bretts own aesoteric and bang the box imprints. denvers full flavor music is honored to have brett on board for its latest release, the someday ep.

FEEL SO CLOSE (BENASSI / NERO / FRANCIS RMXS)
12 Inch
25.08.11
following the radio and chart smash >bounce< feat. kelis, calvin harris releases his storming new single >feel so close<. whilst >bounce< featured vocals from superstar kelis, >feel so close< features vocals by calvin himself. the single is indie meets dance and whilst having the usual catchy hit factor of a calvin harris single, it has an anthemic euphoria in its feel good chorus and echoing guitars and drums. already premiered on pete tongs radio1 show last week, it is most definitely set to make crowds ecstatic from the dancefloors of ibiza to the festival crowds of creamfields and big chill and is sure to be one of the anthems of the summer.
SWITCHBACK / BLACK STRIPE (LTD TO 300)
12 Inch
25.08.11
hand stamped and numbered - limited to 300 copies worldwide!
given the challenges of todays music market, its a fairly bold statement for an indie label to come out of the box with not one, but two vinyl only releases by an artist with no profile to speak of, but here black light smoke proves worthy of the faith being placed in him. sat001 switchback/black stripe is all old school drum machines, tape-hiss, heavy footed disco kicks, acid-a-plenty and funk-to-spare, but the tracks transcend the rawness of their roots to achieve a modern, club-ready edge with retro flair.
SPORTEX (IKONIKA REMIX)
12 Inch
25.08.11
red007 sees pushing red taking a slightly different turn with more of a juke style release. (greek - known as dimitri) buckles down with a with what could be called as a fusion of juke, ghetto house & footwork to outstanding results. the sharp 808 kicks and bassline pulsate throughout the tune while a sharp vocal sample cuts through giving the tune that much more punch! flip over for the wonderful ikonika remix. ikonika has really taken this tune and given it her own feel and appeal. turning the stormer into more of a halftime/ house feel, its hard to put to words the outcome. its ferocious & melodic and all wrapped up with that signature ikonika feel! one you just have to hear!
SO BAD EP (RINO CERRONE REMIX)
12 Inch
25.08.11
raf pisani and marco conte, aka audiomatiques, have long been involved in techno but its since they began working together as audiomatiques that everything began to click. together with roberto capuano, an artist who has already released for loose, claque musique, monique musique and suara, the duo have delivered 3 sterling tracks, which are backed by a remix from rino cerrone, for loose. cerrone takes full advantage of his position as label boss and places his remix of >so bad< in pole. its a walloping but low slung affair riddled with hypnotic rises and false drops which build incredible tension. in original form, >so bad< is a pounding affair. the focus is centred around an unholy bass heavy kick with just the minimum of percussive flourishes and vocal effects doing the rest with aplomb. >mind trip<, while equally as heavy, is fluid and slick. swinging tribal vibes and some clever effects work paired with an airtight arrangement makes for a surefire club burner. finally, the bizarre yet compelling leads of the aptly titled >crazy synth< close proceedings with a fever-dream fervour. original and memorable, this is a genuinely anthemic cut.

ORIGIN / FREED
12 Inch
24.08.11
tronic continues its roll out of summer bombs with the >origin / freed< two-tracker from dosem, an artist who has previously made a name for himself with sterling output for technasia sub-label sino. >origin< is the first of the two tracks and it opens proceedings with an epic, synth heavy vibe. filtered, impeccably programmed drums gently unfurl into a persistently padding groove that kicks on a big system. as the track opens up to drop, metallic synth chords shimmer out of the groove and deliver a massive punch. the intensity grows continually throughout and the melodies are pushed to their maximum, making this an unashamed anthem. the flipsides >freed<, while more heads down than its counterpart, is certainly no shrinking violet. driving drums are topped with long, building vocal screams and rising synths create a feverish atmosphere that, added to a pulsing and brutish bassline, goes off.

it has been in the pipeline for a while, but its finally here. the debut release from nijmegens underground house & techno collective eshu. they have been working and shaping their sound for over a year and gained quite the following on soundcloud for their relentless output. its deep, its slow, its really dirty and its to put your finger on.
two tracks will be released on wolfskuil ltd as a taster of whats to come. >naturally divine< is 14 minute electronic monstertrip with curious offbeat rhythms and detailed & mindblowing sounddesign. it builds tension without ever releasing into climax, making time fly by and 14 minutes seem way to short. >monrovia< on the flip is a nice contrast, but again this techno groover stands out through its unique choice of sounds, synths and layers.

>dazzling urbanite< takes thing a bit more down tempo, a perfect track to play when the first rays of light come shining throught the windows of the panorama bar.
last but not least we included remixes of the acclaimed classic >hard loving<, this time its kabale und liebe who does the honour, a name who doesnt need any further introduction!

dikso from berlin drop another amazing ep ! after five super sound singles here is diksos very first artist ep and of course it will be daniel solars job to do the kick-off. his retrospect ep features the most zippy stuff dikso has released so far without being an ordinary house record. the percussion is minimalistically filigree, the atmosphere is fluffy and aniyas voice on >can you really know< comes direct from outer space... er... down under. dikso006 a1 - summer, sunshine, a picnic basket full of delicious food and wine and someone to share a walk in the park. sounds cheesy? yes, you are right... but remember that every park has its dark corners. dikso006 a2 - daniel teamed up with aniya ouu, the grand lady of >melbourne deepcast<, a blog from a few down under brothers and sisters in spirit. intercontinental and interblogospheric, interdisciplinary and... (fill in a word of your choice that begins with inter) dikso006 b1 - thee role model of deepslowmonudiscoeditchicagoacidwhateverhouse. after finishing two longplayers earlier this year he spent some time to refine daniels track. the original shines through but everything is a little bit deeper, darker, stronger. its still a walk in the park, but imagine the voices of owls and some undefinable dark shadows instead of wine, women & song. dikso006 b2 - we still have his brilliant ep for permanet vacation in our ears and synapses and now he is here with a stirring remix for prime times and big rooms. the boys from dikso borrowed pional, probably spains best kept secret, from john talabots hivern discs camp who delivers a real monster of a track. john, they have promised to give him back, later... someday... somehow

after being enclosed for several years with his mpcs and synthesizers, josé rico carries out the 5th downbeat 12 inch influenced by detroit and chicago. the record starts with september rain, a classic deep house track with warm percussion, deep synths and a jazzy piano. urtzi reworks it into a mesmerizing theme with spooky synths and a naïve bassline. then its on to stage, with raw drums, hammond and keyboards somewhere between tetrode and deep transportation. the record is closed by ciclico with a super-bass and a catchy melody. absolutely hypnotic. a diverse release for deep house lovers.
this is the one. this is the summer tune of 2011. skream annie mac & nick grimshaw have all been building the hype hackmans epic title track >close<. probably one of the best pieces of, bass driven vocal dance music this year. cheekily sniping the alicia keys acapella from >no one< and employing the pitching down technique hackman compliments the vocal riff with layers of heavily clapped out garage breakbeats, and tops it off with a euphoric, futuristic grime bassline that rolls out like an atlantic breaker. its not just close, its perfect - and its another effortlessly curated release from greco-roman.

a big release from the om records team. this latest cut from miguel migs really is seriously dope. migs dub mix does exactly what you want and expect providing musical house music at its finest. throw into the equation the fact that all three of the remixes are done by artists that serve up serious heavyweight tracks and you get a four track piece of prime vinyl. soul clap (possibley the biggest success story of 2011 along side seth troxler) produce a finely tweaked and expertly executed remix which lives up to every bit of the soul clap hype. aki bergen from neurotraxx fame also smashes it on the remix front gracing us with a deep grooving interpretation to nod our heads in the clubs. finally, hardsoul (if you don’t know who they are where have you been hiding) do what they do best, vocal house gold. a quality release not to be missed

played by: monika kruse, carlo lio, gregor tresher, tassilo, joris voorn, karotte, kaiserdisco, mauro picotto, hernan cattaneo, darren emerson and many more. the one thing that perhaps ties all of dj simis multifarious sounds and aliases together is his passion for distinct drums. his new sci+tec single >green twister< certainly fits. beginning with a stripped back, fuzzy bleep groove, the cut soon becomes a mechanized dancefloor workout thanks to a clear militaristic drum solo. this is classic simi. instead of building tension through sound fx or digital trickery, as so much of todays techno tends to do, >green twister< creates its dancefloor euphoria from a much simpler place: a drum pattern change. for the remix of >green twister<, sci+tec roped in naples danilo vigorito. vigoritos remix is straight up techno jacker. he builds a moody and intense atmosphere around the distinct drums of simis original. its a dark and foreboding club sound.

the future of hidden recordings is vibrantly on display with the young producers m.a.d.a. & plankton, who are already a hot property these days with crucial releases on tanz factory, naked lunch, phobiq, sleaze, eminor and more. it seems only natural that the duo would eventually cross paths with the high flying new york city based hidden recordings, a label soaring on the success of its previous two releases - 013hrwolkenreise and 012hrthe great lawn. the union here is a blast of refined techno in the form of antiz. the ep is as dark as midnight and heavy as a load of bricks with a musical character that is memorable and distinct. hidden once again shows its commitment to releasing quality dance floor music with a hard-hitting original and a hand-picked collection of remixes from other well-respected new techno stars including: sasha carassi, alejandro trebor, felix bernhardt, mike wall, michael schwarz, and hidden founders deepak sharma & dieter krause. hidden recordings once more delivers a massive release, this time to celebrate the next generation of producers forthcoming on the label.

one of the strongest house producers of all time joshua iz show us that its not all about house, and brings his dubwise monkier and brings us some sunshine on wax. both of the original tracks ooze class and style. on the flip side one of the men of the moments simoncino funks up one mix then takes you to a beach with the other

hauke freer (session victim) rmx . quality house music for your dancefloor! that is the slogan of the newly formed label >foul & sunk<. the label is focusing his attention on soulful clubmusic in all its facets, which is primarily focused on the dancefloors of this world. for the first release could be obtained directly one of the most innovative producers in terms of classic house music with the italian shooting star nicholas. after releases on labels such as >no more hits<, >its a small world disco< and >4 lux< of the italians now delivers the next stroke of genius! nicholas tracks operate entirely clear on the history of house, but never forgetting the contemporary look. his tunes sound as fresh, exciting and new, of course, work well on any dancefloor in the world. >when i think about< is classic house at its best: raw and dirty! responsible for the remix to hauke freer, one half of the berlin duo >session victim<. hauke freer takes out the tempo of the song without taking the tension. it is through the very early break in the track that builds to a real slo-mo house slider. the perfect start to a great club night.
