the a12 motorway was wrapped in complete darkness. the lights of the windmills were blinking in the rhythm of the rotor blades passing by. they appeared just before sunrise. no one had ever seen this kind of creature ever before: red flashing, and bright shining alien butterflies attracted by the windmills. people stopped, and got out of their cars to watch this spectacle. the flying creatures were constantly creating new, kaleidoscope-like formations, and slowly, and very softly at first, they started singing. and although nobody really understood their behaviour, everybody understood their wistful and hopeful song.

mr raoul k and baobab secret take the next step and put out new remixes of >le karantkatrieme peul<. prisme are a belgian duo (nicolas pepinster and yves theys) who started to produce their own material in 2010. they liked the title track so much that they remixed it and sent the result to mr raoul k who instantly fell in love with the melodic and laid back approach they took on it. this lush piece makes a perfect entry into a long night out, promising that every piece will fall into place. the other production crew featured on this release are the iklawa brothers (mzwandile nxasana and sandile magwaza) who run their own label in durban, south africa. they are big fans of mr raoul ks work and have been dropping his tunes in their sets on a regular basis. their remix is a dark, afrobeat driven tune that takes the listener on a long trip into a gloomy world full of surprising musical twists, dramatic changes of mood and impressing string sounds. the last remix is done by mr raoul k himself. he shows a new side of his musical skills. resulting in an epic track that seems to dance on tiptoes around a giant beast. one small step. hesitate. check carefully what happens. do not disturb. just watch in astonishment how it slowly awakes and stretches out to its full glory. a track that is full of hope, but reminds us to keep our feet to the ground to provide a solid stand.

with his debut release on co-owned smallville label stefan marx presents an exclusive poster collection coated inside a gatefold 12inch cover sleeve. giving the smallville shop and label a visual face since the very beginning stefan marx created hundreds of posters and partyflyers, painted the shopwindows regularly and set up every single record cover. now its the time for himself to release an extraordinary smallville issue in 12inch format. three posters (each has the size of 90 cm x 60 cm) including a first appearance of his band project the dead sea (aka stefan marx, rvds, lawrence and birte löschenkohl). smallville 25 is a collaboration with nieves, the zürich based publishing house of stefan marx and some all-time favorite contributors such as kim gordon, mike mills, mark gonzales and wesley willis. stefan is working with nieves since 2004, publishing books and zines on regular basis. the smallville release is dedicated to ariel pinks haunted graffiti, probably the best band in the world. nachdem die gruppe 1973 von ihrem sommerurlaub zurückgekehrt war, widmeten sich benny andersson und björn ulvaeus der komposition neuer lieder. der erste song, der in diesen sessions aufgenommen wurde, war dance (while the music still goes on), welcher sehr von den aufnahmen von phil spector inspiriert war. es folgten im oktober die aufnahmen für my mama said, honey honey, what about livingstone und suzy-hang-around. im november wurde lediglich der king kong song aufgenommen, der später von vielen fans als „der albernste song, den die band jemals produziert hat“ bezeichnet wurde.
