jamie lidell is a british vocalist, producer and warp recording artist with a string of intelligent, soulful electronic albums under his belt.a: new eyes b: seye wen... the vinyl factory has partnered american multi-media artist doug aitken and the barbican to bring his acclaimed station to station: a 30 day happening to the uk for a month-long. for the duration of the event, which features residencies, installations, live performances, workshops, screenings and more, the vinyl factory has created the vinyl factory recording studio to provide a space for musicians and artists to experiment and improvise and has installed the vinyl factory press on-site to manufacture these recordings into vinyl editions.

over the last 12 years, kel mckeown, or kelpe, has carved himself a unique perch in the uk s electronic underground. across several full-lengths, eps and remix projects, his misfit electronica has managed to cohere a staggeringly deep spectrum of influence along the way. a natural son and heir to generation warp and the fathers of krautrock, his pioneering experiments in the early 00s also positioned him as one of many stylistic precursors to the arrival of la s now-sprawling beat scene. much like scene-savants prefuse 73 and dimlite, kelpe has remained an enormously respected stalwart of the fringes, always dabbling variously in sampleheavy beat-craft, oddball ambient, and more recently dancefloor-ready club grub.

tensnake s standard in the end (i want you to cry) release gets not one, but seven remixes. a nod to the good old remix double pack craze of the nineties, you will find them spread out over two plates. ranging from a classic tiger & woods treatment to prins thomas quirkiness via lone s happiness, two versions by shan, the timid dj oyster as well as pete herberts & dicky trisco s respectful re-arrangement, this one has it all: disco, techno, jungle (alomost!), house, cheese & chocolate!

new to the stay underground it pays gang, the eighth release on the label comes from none other than octo octa! you know him from his prolific run on 100% silk, and more recently for his ep on gerd jansons running back label at the top of the year. the man from brooklyn serves up 4 slices of that u.s. experimental house sound we love so much. on the a side, we have two versions of octo octa’s melancholic title track, requiem for the body. both as good as the other, it’s gonna be split for a lot of listeners on which is better. while both versions share certain elements, the second plays down the long keys of the first versions in favour of some stabby chord patterns. either way, proper 4 a.m. business!on the flip, we get a bit more ethereal with times two (loose version). simple yet effective, this one has a lot of atmosphere with those delayed vocal cuts over that late 80s bassline. closing out the record is when home. this one is a bit of a stomper at first until it brings in the lighter synth elements halfway through. someone, somewhere will have an epiphany listening to this track. if its you reading this, send in the results on the back of a postcard. all in all, another killer release that feels straight at home in the stay underground it pays catalogue

the second release we do with french artists upwellings aka vincent raude who is professor of modern art at the academy of brest and has been recording music since 1996. his ep comprised two tracks. a-side >dubbin at the strobe< feat. michael zerang shows a nice interaction of drums and sounds developing a profound deep mood. drum parts were recorded in chicago by michael zerang, a real jazz legend who played a lot with peter brötzmann and joe mcphee, hamid drake. the flip side >lighthouse dub< has the aura of an place which is extremely isolated. the sound is at times extremely pulled back and melancholic and holds a sentiment that reminds us a bit of joy divisions >we are the young men<. the track undergoes a transformation beatwise when going more uptempo.

this album is another chapter in the ongoing there s-muchmore-to-brazil than-bossa-nova saga. it s filled with disco-eratracks produced for the brazilian domestic marketplace, some of which were hits, others which were quite obscure. what binds them all together - besides their common origins, time period and overall musical approach - is the fact that their reputation has been steadily transcending brazils borders. this has allowed these tunes to find their place on set lists, want lists and in the crates of the world s most discerning djs and tastemakers.

for more than a decade, the bunker new york has been a nexus point for the transnational techno community. a chance meeting at the bunker in 2011 brought together gunnar haslam and johannes auvinen (also known as tin man), who became fast friends and collaborators soon after, conceiving a joint project called romans. the bunker new york is proud to present romans ambulare aude, a collection of atmospheric acid techno tracks following the projects debut on auvinens own global a in 2014.

for the eleventh release on caduceus, myles sergé has provided us with three original tracks along with a remix from prolific argentine producer jonas kopp.

athens of the north presents two of the disco floaters from our previously unreleased aotnlp original friends and buddies, both of these versions are on 45 for the first time. the stripped down version of silence that you keep benefits from the more direct tight vocal. without the synths there is much more space in the mix which suits the melancholy deep disco groove so much better. on the flip po man has also been stripped right back to its more basic elements also for the better, less is so much more.

london-based artist the room below follows 2014’s dba debut (as part of the 015.5 v/a release) with a mixture of classic and experimental house sounds. born in bristol, raised in dorset and residing in the capital, henry keen aka the room below has been djing and collecting vinyl for over 20 years. as soundspecies alongside his brother he was championed by gilles peterson’s worldwide show and london institution cdr. the alias ‘the room below” was coined to coincide with henry’s analogue re-working of close friend paul white’s ‘rapping with’ lp. since then he has maintained this alias for his house and techno composition. they pay homage to the legendary chicago and detroit artists that inspired him back in the 80’s and 90’s.

deep disco warrior the revenge turns in an epic hypnotic mix of slow burning house nailed down by analogue bass and acid. using a filtered vocal it builds slowly as the bottom end is tweeked towards a mesmeric journey through minimal wigged out disco. sleazy mcqueen and romano arcaini turn in a disco inflected house mix with congas, spaces out synths and enough dynamics to keep any dancefloor bubbling. it builds with added percussion and a filtered pad before the lead hits the break and the track comes back in with even more wallop. drug empire is an original off the album and has had support from the likes of rune lindbaek, crazy p’s hot toddy and horse meat disco. said to be inspired by theo parrish’s productions it’s a delicious slice of bass driven deep disco with a nod to the looser end of detroit and chicago. it’s all about the fully locked in three note analogue moog bass which holds down the grooved out drums before breaking to jazzy rhodes at the end. one for the heads.

despite only a few releases, the electronic deep house sound of vibraphone records and the production team behind it had a major impact on the international 1990s dance scene. the original 90s vinyl are now considered precious collectors items. revitalized by an increasingly new young audience interest this label has reached a cult status and it is now been re-launched via juno records. produced by the true underground sound of rome team all the tracks included in this rereleased are characterized by a heavenly atmosphere and a cinematic sound. this 2x12inch ep contains the analog re-mastered version of the original 6 tracks first released in 1992 plus 2 new bonus tracks.

pangaea (aka kevin mcauley) is one-third of hessle audio alongside ben ufo and pearson sound - a label and dj collective which has been operating since 2007. the third release on his own hadal imprint is another 4-track ep of techno mutations, indebted to both the lineage of uk soundsystem culture and us/european dance music.

for the past few years, young denmark vessey has been releasing a series of albums, both as a leader of carious groups and as a sideman in various others, which definitely mark him as one of the most exciting young players in music. vessey’s last album prior to this (2013’s cult classic) employed scud one for the rhythm section. vessey, in his own playing suggest that he may be forging a link between the new mainstream and prior innovations. it is to vessey’s credit that this album achieves a surprising degree of unity. there is little of the haphazard feeling that too often arrends blowing sessions by pick-up bands. it would be easier to mistake this for a group which works regularly. part of that is simply because vessey is a part of the new mainstream, the part that is seeking beyond the accepted common language to find ways of extending it. the rest is because of vessey’s unusual talent.

pure badness all over this 1979 jamaican disco-funk odyssey! king sporty should be no stranger to those of you with a keen ear for esoteric underground disco sounds, his tracks have been getting serious play by top shelf, discerning jocks since the 1970 s & his konduko label has dropped many a left-field bomb on unsuspecting dance floors! fire keep on burning is one such bomb, an lp crammed full of unstoppable stripped back island sounds, too many killer cuts to mention but just check out the og version of get on down for starters! an essential & extremely rare record & one that deserves a spot in any self respecting disco lovers collection. %100 heat on here, party jams from start to finish, let s go to the disco!

joey longo has had a long & varied music career since the 1980s, from regular global dj spots to producing hip hop records for krs one to spearheading the deep nyc house sound that he is most well known for. the raw shit is a classic pal joey ep, featuring a handful of his trademark hip hop & jazz infused tracks, all sample laden & with dope chopped up drums & ultra deep synth pads that occupy that sweet late night spot somewhere between the burrell brothers & maw. released in 1995 & still sought after by music lovers today the ep is the perfect marriage of house music with b-boy sensibilities, raw indeed! remastered, repressed & re-released for 2015 in conjunction with king street records, new york city.

a storming debut e.p from the persian prince, kasra v. a 21 year old from tehran who hit the shores of london four years ago armed with a bag of his uncle s boogie & disco and a taste in music belying his years. a residency at love fever has seen him holding his own with the likes of young marco, jonny rock, dj nature, and a radio show on the prodigious nts has seen him showcasing his tasted amongst the most listened on the station. learning his craft over the last 3 years on his trusty mpc2000, battery of fm keyboards and midi synced drum machines, his debut ep comes with a synth infused sound and a nod to 80s sleazy late night b movies.

a nasa satellite has confirmed the ancestral tradition of the -music of the spheres-, that celestial bodies emit harmonic sounds. although the music of the spheres has led first to the notion of universal harmony and then symmetry, it has now been discovered that the sun s atmosphere actually emits ultrasonic sounds and interprets a score formed by waves that are about 300 times more severe than tones that can be captured the human ear. this time, orbe represents these sounds.

next up on titanic city, needs no introduction, nigel rogers aka perseus traxx has been a staple part on most record bags, a man dedicated to performance outside the box, has produced one of the greatest releases we will surely drop all year. some kind comments in our direction had to surly be returned with a request for a release and did he deliver. nigels first question was *what do you like* - *well we love your m>o>s, bunker, photic fields, snuff trax material*, he returned with a little bit of all. i am not gonna give the whole soaring pads, scraping percussive smears or the frenzied synth lines. this is perseus traxx he always delivers!! there is a rough and raw diy feel to this music that makes it jump out of the speakers and arrest your attention, as is always the case with titanic city.

the gift is a series dj house shoes started to spotlight under the radar producers. pressed in a limited edition of 300 copies on 180 gram vinyl. raj mahal was a colleague of house shoes in the detroit hip-hop scene in the 1990s, a scene he joined just about the time fantastic volume one was recorded (1996). when he moved to chicago and refined his style, there was widespread talk that raj would follow in the footseps of other detroit alumni by releasing a proper album. that album has finally come.

illusion limited is the limited press sister label to illusion recordings. the label will shine light on new artists and sounds not currently represented on illusion. the first release kicks off with the highly talented manchester based artist seelie who delivers two slices of subtle, classy deep house. this ep has been a while in the making and shows a real development in seelie s sound from classic house to deep textured and hypnotic house. blm provides a huge remix on the a side stripping things back and letting the analogue bline and minimaistic drums create a heady, yet dancefloor track. dilated pupils provide a unqiue broken beat remix of the hypnotic desire on the b-side to round things off and kick off this label in style.
