alex krueger is ready for his next strike on dirt crew rec. the follow up to his excellent <push the patton< single is an absolute minimal killer, 3 quality tracks here and a different side of tigerskin for each taste. all tracks were produced with analogue equipment only which has become pretty rare these days ! the title track is a warm and reduced builder with an absolutely devestating guitar breakdown, people will remember this one for sure when they first hear it out on a big system. the second >wanted< is a typical tigerskin rave anthem, similar to his master hit >neontrance< this one is pure power on the dancefloor. the last track is more funky and has a great electro groove to it, this one has become a favourite in our sets over the last weeks and also features a beautiful break with great analogue sounds

hinode’ is a tribute and farewell to our favourite club, yellow in tokyo. we’ve played some great gigs there, six or seven hours in the dark with eight hundred people and one strobe light – perfection. endless saki in the bar, obligatory stalkers (“93!” and hedgehog girl step forward please), smoke and heat on the dance floor. finally emerging deafened and sun blinded into the brilliance of saturday mid-morning in tokyo… backing up the original is an exceptional remix from our favourite techno genius - fergie.

the kazey & bulldog picture disc is followed by the first d2s release from our hero rod lee - a baltimore legend in his own right and in our eyes the no. 1 club producer, bar none. this super aggro dude has serious issues. he just needs to open his mouth and kids cry flames. for his first d2s release, rod commits re-mastered versions of two of our favourite cuts produced by the man. we first heard >understand< when we scored a bunch of scottie bs ebay auctions, and to this day its one of the best baltimore tracks ive ever heard. you can play this sh*t anywhere and the crowd just freaks out. hip hop heads love it, techno heads love it, even your girlfriend loves it. we coupled it with rods simple but ultra effective remix of the eurythmics classic, >sweet dreams<. when the catch an attitude tour dropped in on our club in glasgow, a-trak dropped this beast for all of 30 seconds and people went nuts. bannanas even. you could argue that the eurythmics remix thing is overdone and outdated, but if you did so, wed know for sure you hadnt heard rods version. anyway... we tracked it down and got it on the flip, so really this is more like a double a. both cuts are re-mastered (but still raw like the day they were made) and cut loud on heavy 12inch vinyl

continuing far outs 7inch series, joyce scats her way over two high octane bossas with an unmistakable feminina-style sound. this 7inch features an exclusive version of feijao com arroz - a track from joyces forthcoming cd yet here with a scorching bassline that differs from the album version and will ensure the tune gets flipped by those djs who know the damage a bass led bossa groove can do to a dancefloor. feijao com arroz - rice and beans - might be the simplest of brazilian dishes yet this track is a master class in samba jazz. joyce and her banda blend the basic ingredients of bass, drums, guitar and vocals into a rhapsodic groove that sounds like it could be a lost classic from seminal joyce albums such as feminina or tardes cariocas. joyce weaves a web of sonorous guitar work in between tuttys frenetic cymbal work as her scat lifts the tune high whilst a driving bassline pushes the groove low, surely putting feijao com arroz up there with the likes of aldeia de ogum and feminina. on the flipside lies penalty, a live favourite from joyces recent japanese tour. again on paper the ingredients look simple - bass, drums, guitar and vocals - yet in the hands of joyce and co the elements are blended together to create a celestial slice of spiritual jazz dance guaranteed to lift even the weariest of souls.

the bass heavy >mallorca< is featured in remixes by mood music head honcho sasse and composts newcomers marbert rocel, while llorca from paris has turned >incredible< into a club banger. the brothers javi and luis aka wagon cookin are lucky buggers. their recent album >2faces< is getting tons of props from illustrious supporters like osunlade, king britt, laurent garnier, rainer trüby or llorca. then christian prommer picked up their first single >start to play< and conducted a true remix masterpiece reaping even more flatteries from ben watt, jimpster, ashley beadle, markus enochson… in summer time you can find the guys chillin on their favourite mediterranen rock: mallorca. they like this place that much that they even made a song about it which turned out to be the best kept secret from >2faces< - a bass heavy groove monster and deejays fave which finally sees its well deserved release on vinyl to be played out loud in the clubs. and as this wasnt enough reason to celebrate, mood music head honcho sasse lindblad and french connection ludovic llorca (of f-com fame) check in to deliever top notch remixes of >mallorca< and the b-side track >incredible<. last but not least compost newcomers marbert rocel join the gang to make their debut as remixers, and the result is quite impressive - althought their version of >mallorca< is a little bit more dancefloor orientated than their >speed emotions< album material. enjoy!

cazals release their first full single life is boring from their brilliant upcoming album what of our future. you may have seen and heard this bruising and frenetic track on the recent sony ericsson walkman campaign, which featured the video directed by bryan barber of outkast fame. life is boring features remixes all from friends of the band. one from ali love who was a founding member of cazals, and played bass! another from rory phillips who daniel and phil know only too well after spending practically every monday night with him for the last number of years at trash and finally a remix from crookers who are lucas favourite italian producer mates.

excellent and rare set from the highly respected roots group cultural roots originally released in 1984, which is now re mastered and gets a vinyl repress for the first in well over 20 years. recorded at channel one studios, jamaica, produced by henry junjo lawes, mixed by scientist and utilising the talents of the roots radics, this album still sounds as fresh and thrilling as it did when it was originally released. the albums features the popular love feelings, cut of john holts evergreen police in helicopter rhythm and the big hit hell a go pop a big favourite with reggae sound systems during 1984.

mothership transmission #4… todd bodine has been one of our favourite producers for a long time so we are very excited to be able to bring to you this ep on mothership. todd always brings a swinging groove that works for both minimal and house djs and this release definitely delivers the doughnuts. side a, >secret edge< will turn any stale room fresh and get everyones toes tapping and asses wiggling. its got elements of detroit, chicago, and berlin all wound up into a really nice party starter. you can never underestimate a fun grooving track thats easy to mix and fun to dance to. side b, >back to back< is a submariners dream with bubbling water sounds floating and popping over a low funk groove. this is the track for when you want to take it down a notch without losing any dance-floor magic. its a real dreamy affair with a fat bottom end. thanks todd!

exercise one remix the first release from grecoroman - london darling david e sugar. the circumstances are certainly mysterious, but anyone who heard exercise one live these past months will know this mix takes the roof off. exercise one hop in to inject some kreuzberg attitude with a pumping bassline, but nod to london with their thunderous, hands in the air, finale. a personal favourite of the exies - oi oi london this is kreuzberg

impressive debut ep from new duo bearweasel are a new production duo, consisting of dean muhsin and louisa page. with a remix already out on perc trax they debut with this superb ep for audioflys new label. opening track >monkier< is brilliant. combining a touch of latin percussion with swollen basslines and brilliant horn stabs scattered througout its one of my favourite tracks of recent months. second track >drummer< is just as good – its wonky techhouse with a funky bassline and small-but-effective breakdown. remix of >monkier< comes from my favourite hamburg-based croatian, solomun. his version takes it deeper, with a lazier attitude but a warm vibe. a quality debut and a duo to watch out for in 2008.

for the final of the simple sounds ep, we bring in the disco courtesy of two of wills favourite fellow artists. putsch 79 take wills album cut >speak & spell< deeper and darker but maintain wills original chord progression. the undulating dark disco mix slowly evolves into a fabulous euphoric crescendo that’s already proving to be irresistible to our feet. on the flip, northern lads 2020 soundsystem, led by ralph lawson and dubble d, re-interpret wills underground classic pause in their signature live style.

natus n arkus – notably robert natus and arkus p. - both leaders and pioneers of the new hardtechno scene. after individual releases at platforms as highball, definition, artillery, fine audio, bitshift, favourite tools and many more they allied for a track called >hardcore salsa< which became club hit of the year and best sold track 2004. their joint battle live performance is a must-have-seen. the venues they appear at are crowded with fanatic fans and their reputation grows all over the globe. natus recently entered the a&ring doors at compressed and he says the time is ripe for another boneshaker by natus and arkus

bob sinclar teams up with his favourite singer steve edwards (featuring the top 10 hit single >world, hold on<) for a back to basic, 100% original house song. including exclusive gregor salto & dj madskillz remix

lurifax aka peter visti is known for his love of balearic music. peter is now signed to eskimo recordings where his first ep >balearic love< was a favourite with djs such as todd terje, prins thomas and superstar dj tiga. following on from >balearic love<, mindless boogie released peter visti edits of >jolene<, which went on to be a balearic smash throughout the summer of 2007 and got playlisted by rob da bank on bbc radio one. now peter adopts a new guise as lurifax to drop his debut release for spacetalk records. >afro beach< takes the listener back to the glory days of the balearic scene of the late 80s and early 90s driven by a mellow groove and some choice recorder and accordion parts with hints of detroit in the bassline. on the flip, >need someone< is trademark peter visti, a languid mid-80s throbber that takes in a wonderful guitar solo. a worthy third release to follow on from the success of spacetalks first two releases from kaine and future beat alliance

adam beyers drumcode imprint is about to go through something of a rennaissance with some simply sublime material about to hit the streets this autumn/winter. traditionally his labels would always have a very swedish bias - something which has now opened up to include new exciting producers from further afield. one of these producers who adam greatly admires is perc who has delivered this devastating 3 tracker for drumcode. perc has his own label perc trax and his recent remix of dj hell on kickin records was a firm favourite in adams sets for many months….

the quake has a completely fresh sound, not strictly breaks, house or electro, but possessing elements of all 3 genres, its about the groove, warm synth work and the phonat style cut up female vox. splank! favourite malente provides the remix action for this single. having released the 2 & only on splank! last year alongside sometime production cohort (lars) moston, this year has also seen malente release his fourth studio album on unique records how can you still stand to stand still, and more recently he has remixed coburn. the remix takes a 4/4 route, as malente keeps many of the original parts, but re arranges them into his original production style, and creates an absolute monster that goes into overdrive after the drop.

talented australian newcomer jamie lloyd continues his upward trajectory with his debut album trouble within released internationally in september following two successful eps in 2006. the album has been getting the remix treatment from some of our favourite producers ahead of its global release with the first 12 to surface featuring remixes from berlin duo trickski (sonar kollektiv) and zwicker (compost black label)

the worlds the loop (extended edit) is hiding on this rare as you like italian promo 12 inch. an absolute stinker is this euphoric piece of instrumental cosmica. massive drums, crunchy guitars and soaring synths combine to make a huge sounding fanfare of a tune. nash the slashs wolf on the b side comes from a classic cosmic obscurity of an lp produced by steve hillage and this is our favourite track from the album. no drums, no synths, just a heavy wall of warm violins and wordless vocals. an amazing piece of music from way left of centre. essential for all fans of the true cosmic sound
