pitched black aka irfan rainy (rainy city) from the rainy city of manchester drops his new track on modelhart. already dropped two releases on his new sonic project and label something in the water. irfan continues his dark assault on the sonic landscape of house and techno. taking cues from berlin, detroit and manchester, the release features the track * when stars collide*, a version for the dance floor and a beatless version for the more experimental minds.

the maghreban is new to house music, and doesnt really listen to house music, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. he has worked extensively in other genres under other names. looking at house from these sideways perspectives perhaps gives him an interesting angle on it. this second release sees the maghreban expand his sonic palette somewhat, taking in some african sounds but also continuing along the vintage theme of his first 12 inch. radio play from benji b (bbcr1), thristian (nts), support from ben ufo (rinse/hessle), brian not brian (going good/kristina records), gatto fritto (international feel), sasa (in flagranti, nts), leri ahel (mutant disco).

taking a few steps off it’s usual housy path, metereze presents a fresh new face and a more techno approach to dance music. it is melodie that signs the 4th installment and he is taking it deep into the realms of acid with 3 tracks that not only go well together but they are all meant to make you move in a big way.
acid sunday is as acidic as the name suggests it but in the end it’s the most poetic of the 3. the subtle pads are kinda dreamy but the 303 sounds make it super driving. on the same side we have rhythmico which is dark, percussive and powerful. subtle background bleeps complete the wandering synth that comes and goes but never really seems to go away.
housed on side b justa is a techno monster in its own right. sonically very close to the other two, this is by far the darkest track on this ep. and probably the strongest. techno infused house you may call it or whatever, this is the kind of track that puts you on a serious move whenever, wherever.

capsule labs music groups debut release is a 4 track house ep from label boss gil t (om, drop music, deeper shades). taking off with the lush sounds of flight 107, a smooth synth journey, nicely descends to get down low�. the afro cuban house beat sets a nice groove for the live jazzy vibraphone stabs of this classy track. the b side is a real bonus. the private driver really cruises and lastly, not so low is a chunky finisher remix of the title track, all done in house. locally farmed variety of true analog precision by gil tamazyan. each release has its own plastic drop card with a string being held in place with a limited pressing metal foil sticker individually numbered 1-500 on the back side of the jacket. heavyweight virgin vinyl.

for skylax 140, damien zala, of rowtag records fame, brings the heat with a new 6 track ep. it kicks off with an absolutely mad remix of * looking for the sun* by detroit legend, anthony shake shakir. the attention to detail is clear when it comes to someone who has been in the game for so long, and the rework he has done for damiens track is no exception. * the final break* is damiens first original on the record. a skippy, staccato affair in both its percussion and its disco/funk/soul sampling. *beauty is back* is damien taking things down a jazzier route, with a piano laden jazz sample and shuffling drums to match.on the flip, * always young* is an audacious disco edit, sampling such a treasured song that many would consider untouchable, luckily, damien works his magic to make an edit which gets people moving without being obvious. the ep closes out with * emotions* and the original version of * looking for the sun*, barely recognisable from the anthony shakir remix, in the best possible way! sweet & dirty indeed, dont miss this offering by the one and only damien zala.

man of mystery, a sagittariun, may not be the first, nor the last, in a long lineage of techno producers to go undercover and under a veil of anonymity, but the west country artist doesnt use this cloak to stir up any hype, quite simply the music does the talking, and since 2011, has released a breath taking selection of music on his own elastic dreams label. and so the archer lands on hypeltd after only one other foray onto labels other than his own (2014s lost cities ep for secretsundaze).

tom demac tears down the gazelle twin original compositions and rebuilds them with feverish candor. *belly of the beast* pounds hard with rubbery percussion and rattling hats like chains, the gazelle twin chants her mantra *i ll beat them all at their own game…* demacs padded cell like production is most definitely some of the best work we have heard him do to date, and this dark sound aesthetic spills into his take on *guts*. like an electro take on a john carpenter score, demac carves out a futuristic and desolate take on gazelle twins celebration of urge resistance and taking pleasure in the complexity of the mind.

a couple of years into honing their skills in the studio and behind the booths, the very dynamic duo known as andhim returns to get physical to present us with ‘spayce, the latest specimen of their self-christened super house genre. raised on a steady diet of hip hop and jazz, the cologne-native pair have proven to many far and wide that they are entertainers at heart and envelope-pushers by nature. taking turntables where they seldom go to turn them into instruments, as well as the heavy use of samples and real-world inspiration to set their own creations apart, its fair to say that ‘spayce is just another example of the duos eclectic, eccentric inclinations. two tracks long and spanning from dance floor epic to quirky by way of some particular glitch, piano work and musical hiccups, ‘spayce ep is a very sweet addition to an already original discography.

we open spring season with a stellar various artists ep featuring four emerging southwest german producers and projects: odysea, hendrik vogel, joseph tacker and georgi barrel. the guys did their best to create a groundbreaking 12 inch taking you on a joyful journey through a broad spectrum of deep house music.

the first installment in a double issue of brand new cleric productions drops with figure 64. the young british producer has released a handful of 12s over the last few years, issuing forth a bold, club targeted sound with a keen ear for clarity and full-spectrum sonics. now we are treated to a wide ranging and impressive new wave of work, over 8 tracks on 2x12s, from cleric on figure. taking us head first into the action, >avoid the subject< presents a crazy dystopia of arpeggiated synth bleeps, dancing and filtering around a heavy trademark cleric drum barrage. at once recognisable, part-insane and part-paranoid funk, its a strong statement to start the ep.

we are back with the 4th episode of the seed series. this is ep was born from the recent collaboration between deepbass, head of informa records, and nax_acid owner of the label. the record is a deep voyage between abstract and distorted atmospheres and pulsing analog and acidic sound all blend in with 4/4 and broken techno beats, taking you to an imaginary garden of the hesperides, nymph garden, inspired from the greek mythology. hesperis, erebus and nyx, nymph of the night and darkness, will accompany you through the journey across the ravishing garden, guiding you through the elegance of a splendid dark night enlighten by a new moon.

itle track - brotherhood is a raving techno animal with thevoice of martin luther king in the break, which fits perfectly. another young label member daniel cuminale turns it into a synthastic remix! alex wolf goes on with - a little bit ofacid - is there anything more to say push the button andmutate the sounds into trippy techno, hard but fair, alex callsit - hustlin . after taking the - blue pill , he kicks it deeperand subby, but still synth-wise. join the brotherhood.

a busy year ahead for techno label signal code records. last year seen vinyls from label head costelloe along with duplex, mark du mosh, defekt and simoncino. the labels sound has grown into an indescribable mix of future retro techno. taking a classic sound and putting a modern twist on it. its a busy start to 2015 with two hot 12inchs already planned for the first two months. the first is a 4 tracker from label head costelloe featuring two remixes from glasgow power house and clone and creme organisation regular marco bernardi. classic techno and electro given a modern twist. quickly following the release will see a 12 inch from l.i.e.s man simoncino with sex tag manias dj sotofett providing a dubbed out mix. it is a busy start for 2015.

the art of omission is a craft new jersey native joey anderson masters like few others. after releasing an acclaimed debut album in 2014, anderson returns to the dekmantel label serving up the signature sound we love him for. with the 1974 ep, he continues his modern day techno odyssey investigating the outskirts of the genre, while focusing on details and unexpected twists. serving up dense melodic structures, intense chord progressions and unique but relentless drum programming and sounds, anderson shows that the future of techno is bright, original and full of energy.

celebrated and mercury-nominated uk duo rae & christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on night time stories/late night tales after spending the last decade meditating in a buddhist monastery in swindon. this year the label commissioned a series of remixes from mercury rising and mang dynasty (aka ray mang & bill brewster) take on favourite game featuring rising star of the swindon buddhist circuit jake emlyn. mang dynasty focus on gita langley s backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and afghanistan). jake emlyns more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12inch on mangled, home of the hits!

jacky makes his debut appearance on the growing label keep it zen records and kicks off 2015 by taking you on a journey with his sensational nineteen ep, featuring 3 peak time dance floor hitters, all with that unique jacky signature sound he is becoming well known for.

rune lindbaek s drum island label returns after a short hiatus - and what a return ! rune teams up with recent lp collaborator oyvind blikstad for north, an absolutely beautiful poly-rhythmic norse epic, with soaring strings, shifting live instrumentation and a sophisticated musicality that s light touch enough to lose yourself in completely... the flipside is handled expertly as ever by eddie c eddie never fails to deliver and he s amped up the african elements of north perfectly, taking us to a late night nigerian disco bar for a dubbed out, disco epic stunning stuff & another all ears sureshot limited edition import vinyl - full picture sleeve.

out of rome, sofatalk soars high on this ep, feeling out the difference between a lifetime on earth or one really cool moment above it. the title track breathes and evolves via a series of flourishes on the playful side of things - this one is no beard stroker. cloudy soul keeps the optimism and front foot action rolling with an excursion slightly to the deeper end without ever fully taking the plunge. wrapping it up, on reflection is a tight little rhythm-box-driven number that takes you by surprise, transplanting you from the floor to the lower middle stratosphere without you realising. japanese producer 9dw then turns it into a hot stepper of its own, keeping the energy up there but differentiating the bounce.

genial is more than happy to introduce you to bal, a new project based in italy. bal is an alias for the well known producers andrea bigi & marius laurentiu, who have previously released in labels such as viva music and catwash records.
with their rhythmatic ep in genial they are entering into a new sound territory presenting 3 original tracks with their main characteristics being minimal groovy drums, deep trippy samples and most importantly subtle bass.
taking over the remix, is the mysterious iovan iorgovan, whose name is a character in romanian mythology. so hailing from romania, he gives his interpretation of *le vent* and goes even deeper using the dream synths and atmospheric vocals of the original track.

2015 repress ... willie burns and entro senestre team up for their second release on l.i.e.s. under the daywalker + cf moniker. big things on here! picking up right where last year s release left off, the title track supersonic transport turns out to be their most dancefloor driven effort to date. doing exactly what the title states, it moves in beautifully epic territories throughout its almost 8 minutes long course, taking you where you need to go. the b-side turns the floor vibes down a notch, as both tracks are left alone to breath in their own worlds, each with equal space and unique sonic character. ace release from these guys.

after many uk based producers, its time again for some homeboys. elvis is a young dj and producer from zurich/switzerland and his humney ep is his first full release to date.humney is that catchy house tune with a touch of the 90s house sound, with a great bass line, sexy vocals (from the lovely choklate) and solid beats. the up and coming palace (hot haus records) adds a rougher vibe with his remix, but its still humney. the way is taking a deeper direction and shows that elvis cassetta is definitely a name to watch out for!

kaiser is a bari-based producer and dj. he began his collaboration with etruria beat in 2013 with the track conversation, part of the va named bud sampler (part 1), many times played by richie hawtin. today he presents his first ep for etruria, entitled medusa.the pack consists of two original tracks save the chord, so entitled because of the presence of some overlapping dub-chords which intersect one each other and create a melody on which grows a well balanced groove and medusa taking its name by the ep, is a techno track with an aggressive and imposing rhythm, perfect for the most powerful dancefloors!

proximas debut album, alpha, released through tempa, follows on from a string of blistering singles for the label, which found the dutch producer carving out a stark and synthetic vision of 140bpm club music. across its eleven tracks, alpha sharpens his already distinctive aesthetic while significantly broadening in scope. it is a manifesto of sorts, centred firmly around his characteristic, titanium-hard dubstep mutations, yet comfortable taking spaced out voyages through melody-soaked electronics, freaked-out sci-fi funk and vocal-led songs.

taking its name from the address of ron hardys seminal muzic box club (326 n.michigan ave, chicago 3.2.6. was a short lived project from one dion williams, ably assisted by the legendary armando gallop and mike dunn who lend their mixing skills and individual styles across the breadth of the entire record.

sync 24 aka phil bolland is taking a break from his cultivated electronics label to get some well deserved binary treatment. starting out on andrea parker’s uk electro imprint touchin’ bass, phil has consistently produced electro of the highest caliber, be it his solo efforts or remixes for morphology and exaltics to name a few. twilight zones - 4 tracks of raw electro with an experimental approach, pushing the genre into what can only be described as ice cold circuit bent funk.

parrish smith s debut of dystopic forbidding sets the tone of this label s impressive first release with a superb stark, acid ridden slab of body music. helena hauff adds to the proceedings with her remix of pankows >das vodkalied< taking no prisoners and using heavy percussion in contrast to a wonderfully tense set of arpeggiations, which all descend into skull crushing pressure. carrying over to the flip side are pankow, pioneers of the italian industrial/ebm scene, with two tracks from their legendary first tape -throw out rite- from 1983. with das vodkalied disembodied vocals are cut up and come from every direction driven by a raw, off-kilter energy and pounding beat. i m food for you cranks up the drive and anxiety to create a killer track based around stark arpeggiation. last of all, perseus traxx provides an acidic stripped down venting of frustrations which he spits out with vehemence.

japanese dj/producer, dj wada has over 30 years of dj career. his reputation has grown as accurate technician. on the producer side, he formed co-fusion and atom with heigo tani (a.k.a. wall five), they have released over 20 titles on the labels as reel musiq, pro-jex, etc. this is the 2nd release from his own label diretta launched 2014. a side is with electro beats featuring jazzy hones. side b is minimal techno track with piano sample and freestyle drums taking you to a long journey.

three is the number, basement toolz the titel. once again rat life records is taking mickey on a night out to the sewer. here are two tracks made by credit 00 with a borrowed tr 909 drum machine. side a is called korg the groove, as the title already reveals, its inspired by a classic detroit techno cut. can you tell which one it is? on the flip side you will find 909ish, one drum machine and one synthesizer, which is not much but all you need and more, plus there is extra noise on the clap to amplify your face slapping pleasure.

reminiscent of a time where we were releasing 4-tracks sampler every month (remember the secret gems from the vault) it is naturally that we thought about a various artists sampler in order to introduce the new wild bunch. julian m, is french and is taking over right now, releasing here his first track on briquerouge, but the man is no beginner, having released on catwash, homecoming, denote, to name but a few and of course recently on our own rz muzik, his music is deep, acid, techy and ready to please any crowd, ange siddhar is working for laboratory records and works with legendary artists such as ron carroll, paul johnson or chris count and now teams up with illan nicciani on several house project, they have a strong vinyl lovers community following their releases and just joined the label with the show

a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the release of etienne jaumet’s night music, dating from october 2009. his hypnotizing music and enchanting live performances put him directly on the map. it’s just him who is in control of his ship. he moves without complexes from his saxophone to his drum machine (his beloved tr 808) while turning knobs modulating synths, and sending his voice through an echo.la visite, etienne’s brand new album, more luminous and jazzy than its predecessor, has been composed and produced within a two month period in the versatile studio. it became a piece of introspection, mentally as well as physically. in the title track, for which flop wrote the text, we hear etienne travelling through the inside of a body, fantastic voyage style.it is always surprising to see a record taking shape. etienne would arrive at the studio without any precise idea in head, approaching his work rather intuitively. he works standing up, which brings a very different energy than being seated behind a computer polishing up every detail. he is in total mastery of his set-up, ready to capture that short-lived moment of true creation. the only use a computer has for him, is to record his experiments - afterwards being mixed by jerome caron (blackjoy).in between night music and la visite, etienne has not been lazy. not only has he done numerous collaborations (amongst others with joakim, richard pinhas, francois & the atlas mountain) and picked up djing, he has also recorded a new zombie zombie album (rituels d’un nouveau monde) with cosmic neman, as well as the soundtrack loubia hamra. and he worked with artist felicie d estienne d orves on the installation satori. at this very moment, etienne and his saxophone are still part of the tour of james holden.

based in brest in france, prima luce is both an ode to old school techno sounds and the actual underground scene. taking its power in space imagery, the label pursuit the dream to follows, as long as possible, the rave way that made its taste for powerful and intense electronic aesthetics.
