osf is happy and proud to announce a new 12-inch by its founder, nur jaber. the label was conceived by the staub resident as her very own creative platform, a place for her to not just release uncompromising music, but also to print poems, letters and in the case of this record, even direct a video. based in berlin, the young producer who was born in beirut remains very attached to her roots. this background partially explains why she can be inspired by tragic events happening regularly in the middle east - making brave statements in the mostly apolitical electronic music environment. the past years have seen nur embrace a career as a music producer, seeing her slowly and steadily become an original new voice in the techno landscape. this ep showcases nur s ability to create and combine daunting atmospherics and frantic paces. it is dark and twisted, with its vocals and screams, but always driving. weapons of mass destruction is meant for banging crazy dance floors, but it is also personal and almost cathartic, especially in the current political situation surrounding all of us. the artwork, as always, is put together by osf family members the beholder and beauty&machines.

after a longer than usual break gamm enterprises is back on black plastic but more important... we got a brand new design! for those who don t know gamm has been delivering dance music of the blacker kind for almost 15 years but always with the same look. basically, a visual facelift was long overdue. but we think you ll feel it as much as we do and it really works beautifully with our musical ideology. so, for the (new) premier release we got an incognito producer that is rumoured to come from a small town in mexico. having finally agreed for a brief skype call he appeared wearing none other than a bright luchador mask and giving one-word answers with a strong mexican accent. no matter how convincing that was we still can t help thinking his name sounds pretty close to another producer that is to put it mildly, pretty hyped at the moment. musically the ep is ranging from percussive carnival disco (carnival in manchester) to brazilian fusion grooves (jazz in italics) and independent disco/funk (dues paid fast). either way you ll definitely find something that will work your party. gamm is back and back with musical vengeance!

high mobility weapons unit continues its exploration, entering an unknown solar system and landing on a desolate mining planet. the counter rockets ep is the second release on the imprint, drawing influences from heavier, lo-fi territories, whilst still maintaining hmwu s characteristic space techno sound. the a-side starts off with the title track, counter rockets , which is a dj tool that combines functional bleeps with machine processed percussion. a2 serves up abandoned interstellar tomb , a fusion of atmospheric deep space bass and jacking drum patterns. on the b-side, deep sea deposit kicks things off with a poly-woven synth line that contorts and shifts throughout the track. finally, excavation site rolls along with its muted melodies and haunting fx, all built above a floor of sub-bass.

• * super smash* (angelehnt an super smash bros, ein nintendospiel, mit dem die jungs sehr viel zeit verbracht haben) ist ein fjaak powerhouse-banger wie er im buche steht und der lange zeit als opener für ihr liveset diente.
• während fjaak sich auf housige synths verlassen, taucht mike bierbach aka rødhåd direkt ins dunkle. sein -oblivious- paart fast schon paranoide percussions mit typisch dystopischen synth-flächen, die in der ferne heulen - wahrscheinlich in trauer über 50weapons.

our third to last release combines two driving forces of contemporary techno: homegrown benjamin damage is joined by truncate, a deadly combination for any dj s bag. ben damage s -battle- sees him layer his hyperactive grooves over a thumping kick with a small but effective acid line topping things off. truncate s -86- is a massive track dave sumner aka function previously used in his -berghain 07- mix, obviously serving as one of the highlights in there. it s creeping synths build up to a climax in typical truncate fashion, with huge, compressed kickdrums pounding the dance floor mercilessly

athens reminds us of berlin right after the wall. gritty, chaotic, dirty, and partying like there’s no future. dream weapons is a reflection of these confused greek days. with limited means and a diy attitude he builds harsh, lysergic, electronic dreams on the ruins of a once splendid empire. mrt is the perfect place to do so. we believe in total failure.

mit einem epischen neun-minüter kehren benjamin damage & doc daneeka für das 50weaponsfinale zurück zum label. -kansas- lässt kontraste zu einer darken und futuristischen stimmung verschmelzen und schafft dabei eine ganz eigene berghain-eske atmosphäre. ein brandhartes, trippiges killer-clubtool für den extra kick endorphin. auf der b-seite liefert das londoner duo bicep einen ganz eigenen hybrid: funky, hypermoderner uk house und trotzdem klingt es irgendwie wie ein dancelfoor-classic. closing sequence* ist der perfekte tune für die frühen morgenstunden. auch als soundtrack für den nächsten marathon geeignet. unaufhaltsam.

50weapons 41 ist die nummer zwei im grand finale des labels. kaum ist die nadel aufgesetzt, findet sich hier ein killer-paar von tracks, die auf nicht weniger abzielen, als den dancefloor komplett zu zerstören. mit tw33tz feiert phon.o den breiten katalog des labels von droniger darkness bis zu verschwitzter 10 uhr morgens euphorie. eine ganze spur darker als -tw33tz-, gießt paula temples superwaffe oscillate das destillat von techno in einen track mit einer kickdrum, die so staubtrocken komprimiert ist wie astronauten eis. eingebettet in einen magengruben subbass schält sich eine electro acid line in die gehörgänge und setzt sich im motorischen kortex fest.

endlich! wir lassen die nummer 40 aus dem sack und geben einen kleinen ausblick auf das grand finale von 50weapons. ihr könnt euch sicher sein, es wird dick und deswegen geben wir euch 19.94 als ouvertüre. -narr day- ist der erste (sic!) track eines der wichtigsten berliner elektronik acts und gehört damit schon in den schrank für die very, very special editions. musikalisch vereint er gekonnt minimal die wichtigsten zutaten von rave: eine bassdrone und eine kickdrum. das klingt nach early ambient techno und kitzelt ganz frühe jugenderinnerungen wach. der rave kommt endgültig zurück mit cosmin trg s version -narr day remodulated- auf der rückseite. hier entfacht die bass drone des originals gepaart mit den unwiderstehbar dringlichen sounds eines modularen synths eine gewaltige gravitationsmacht. das ist techno pur mit einer sogkraft, die es schwer macht jemals den club zu verlassen. rewind!

obsidian lŠsst raum fźr melodie zwischen den kicks und snares und šffnet sich dem hšrer in einem traumŠhnlichen gefilde. damage verzichtet dabei eher auf rohe beats, tracks wie cosmonaut, parallax view und transmission liefern aber mit sicherer schlagkraft einen adrenalinschub. es sind jedoch die sphŠrischen titel wie pulse width und poly, das acid-angehauchte tetrapod und das gro§artige shimmer, mit denen sich der kźnstler tiefer in das unbekannte wagt. man fźhlt sich an die genialitŠt von afx, skam und autechre erinnert. obsidian zeichnet sich durch ein zusammenspiel aus wŠrme, herz, seele und viel, viel schwei§ aus und zeichnet somit ein perfektes bild und ein grandioses finale fźr das label.

high mobility weapons unit sets off from an unknown location on earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. the transverse velocity ep is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts. the a-side kicks off with the eps title track transverse velocity, where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. in wave 102 the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. the saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. on the b-side, both cycle 01 and astronomy tool serve as stripped-back percussive dj tools. cycle 01 rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst astronomy tool drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit. mastered by black monolith studios.

dream weapons moonland from his pathways ep (holger 3, 2014) has been a favorite of many. accordingly, remix duties were given into the trustworthy hands of barnt and jens uwe beyer, two of the co-founders of much acclaimed cologne label magazine. an expert in mixing and structuring, barnt carves out the hidden capabilities of the original while jens uwe beyer takes a slightly more humorous but no less feet-moving approach to things. weirdo techno in typical magazine/holger style.

nach einem fulminanten debütalbum, das sowohl dancefloors der welt als auch kritiker außer atem ließ, kehrt jeremy guindo aka bambounou nun mit *centrum* in albumlänge zurück. guindo benutzt verspielte electro-synths (echter electro, siehe detroit), die den hörer in einen trance-zustand versetzen, der durch die peitschenden percussions von tracks wie *each other* gestört wird. im gegensatz zu *orbiting* bewegt sich *centrum* eher weg von bass und footwork und hin zu ambient und techno. *centrum* ist keine reine clubplatte, die von vorn bis hinten mit brettern vollgestopft ist (obwohl fähige djs trotzdem viel stoff finden werden), dennoch werden auch die *orbiting* fans wieder begeistert sein. das doppel-vinyl erscheint im klappcover, inklusive poster und downloadcode.

die neue fjaak-maxi ist wie ein bild, in dem die angenehmen sounds oben im stockwerk und die freakshow unten im kellergeschoss stattfinden. der stomper oben enthält ein cut-up des notorischen amen breaks und katapultiert den hörer und tänzer in einen tranceartigen zustand. unten steht für schweiß an der decke und halbnackte körper, die zu den resonanten sounds der kickdrum jacken. dazu noch eine hihat und einige claps - mehr ist nicht nötig. techno in seiner ursprünglichsten bedeutung!

hier kommt ein neuer 4-track-body-shaker von addison groove aka tony williams, amtlicher footwork/jungle-vertreter aus uk. der track -u been gone- featured den erst kürzlich verstorbenen dj rashad und klingt wie eine hommage an den Übervater des footwork. synkopierte kicks shufflen sich um ein motown-sample, das dem track eine gewisse melancholie über den verdrehten jungle-breaks und damit eine struktur verleiht.
