High Mobility Weapons Unit continues its exploration, entering an unknown solar system and landing on a desolate mining planet. The Counter Rockets EP is the second release on the imprint, drawing influences from heavier, lo-fi territories, whilst still maintaining HMWU s characteristic space techno sound. The A-Side starts off with the title track, Counter Rockets , which is a DJ tool that combines functional bleeps with machine processed percussion. A2 serves up Abandoned Interstellar Tomb , a fusion of atmospheric deep space bass and jacking drum patterns. On the B-Side, Deep Sea Deposit kicks things off with a poly-woven synth line that contorts and shifts throughout the track. Finally, Excavation Site rolls along with its muted melodies and haunting FX, all built above a floor of sub-bass.
