jonas munks work as manual has never sought to radically reinvent itself. rather, he has spent the time since his debut ep in 2000 perfecting and refining the sound that is so distinctly his own - with each successive album meticulously exploring certain aspects of the manual sound. there is an ongoing insistence that there is originality and beauty in his finely crafted productions, even in times when they seem terribly out of tune with the current trends. in munks view originality isnt so much a constant renewal of oneself but rather the creation of a unique and confident style that is continuously relevant.

danny wolfers wears many hats: jackmaster corky, trackman lafonte & bonquiqui, legowelt... nacho patrol is dannys travels towards african space travel. where earlier nacho patrol records spent time exploring cosmic ethiopia, this current incarnation adds a more sci-fi element to the mix, taking influences from chicago house to sun city girls, this is purely original sounds from one of the best producers out there.

tune in: dana ruh brings brouqade back from summer holidays. an ep completely rounded, mesmerizing from first to last. sula wakes with vivid snares. precisely produced, finely tuned arrangements and driven by a straight beat and pulsating bass line, the track develops with its deep clubsound to a veritable groover.cautious in the beginning nebouxii gains its selfesteem, builds up subtly, pushes and drives forward and spreads its hypnotic appeal. the mood is constantly high and takes its time to fully develop. sulidae brings you back from the previous hypnosis and gives you insight in a different world: charming vocals glide on a steady synth line, when all around a poetic magic is revealed and some ingenious elements are pulled out of the hat.

with private golds newest offering the inimitable cologne producer martin beume has really taken a huge and achingly beautiful step in his songwriting and production. some might know him from releases with connaiseur or brut! records, but this record is miles higher… wisps of detail adorn each song like edible gold flake on a luscious chocolate ganache cake. synths flutter and glide like summer butterflies and even the percussion is precious and clean. this is not to say it is only good for home listening. lead off track solid rubber has a tough and sexy deep house sway with echoes of brazilian bossa nova laid over its more traditionalist chicago house and jazz. lsdeep, has the full dirt stomp necessary for a forbidden tryst, but sneaks in smart samples and emotional filter washes to add unexpected depth. at 105bpm, you might not expect wip catch to fucking groooooove the way it does, but trust me kids, things are getting slower as we are getting older. and it feels great. soaring orchestral strings married with perfectly cut vocal samples are sure to get the more adventurous djs hypnotizing dancefloors like musical svengalis. and when you thought it was all over, axel boman turns in an amazing remix in his instantly recognizable non-traditional style. this dude is a lothario. all hip shake and cooing come-ons, its a reduced house gem that slinks its way into your pants.
