hot release by neil landstrumm & mat consume, who did a first shit & cheap release on scandinavia in 2001, and 2012 seems a good year to tear it down with a totally unexpected raw & raving electro banger for the dutch shipwrec label. inspired by 60s surf & garage and later punk & wave, the drum machines are set to give us the essential kicks, claps and hihats we need for that oldschool electro vibe. the trashmens surfin bird gets a remake dipped in acid and with shadowlands pre-dubstep skills take control, but nevertheless, all tracks have those wobly basslines typical to landstrumm’s music combined with unique vocals that make this release something special and definitely standing out! this release comes in a sick designed three colour silkscreen printed sleeve, limited to 300 copies including a download code to redeam the digital tracks from the label

back from mystery city follows a similar blueprint, with the core duo employing a cast of live musicians (including string ensembles, brass ensembles and the prague symphony orchestra) to perform their organic disco compositions. all of the tracks were composed, arranged and produced by maccari and bellentani and recorded in rome in 2010 and 2011.

first up is tabou for the people by sofrito specials featuring l barrabas which twitch edited for his dj sets a couple of years back. the lovely people at sofrito kindly gave permission for it to be included on this release. its a relentlessly driving slab of 4/4 afro funk with horn explosions. next up is the 10th and final track in twitchs cumbia series. the first 8 were released on japans lets get lost label and the missing number 9 is being saved for a future release. colombias cumbia was born out of african influences. this track is based around a sample from colombian cumbia legend andres landero and is an attempt to fuse traditional cumbia sounds with up to date production styles. the end result is a slow motion hypnotic cumbia retaining the haunting melancholia inherent in the original sample. leading the aa side, twitch passed a wild highlife song by ghanas atakoru manu to glasgows super talented auntie flo (whose highly recommended future rhythm machine album recently saw a release) to play around with. auntie flo cut it up and added additional drums and bass to come up with this euphoric modern highlife groover

considering the 60s psychedelic heavy metal sound which wolfmother gained fame with in 2006 with their debut album >wolfmother<, they could be called a band out of time.

19 rupert street was the house in glasgow where scottish folk singer alex campbell lived and this is where sandy denny recorded these songs. recorded on a home tape machine they showcase denny in a relaxed atmosphere singing with acoustic guitar, and occasionally joined by campbell.
