stanley anscorm has finished the follow-up to battle beyond the sun. you can expect two epic tracks on this nearly 30 minutes record. although the tracks are based on identical compositional material, they shine in very different color. the black side is of high density and impresses with remarkable bass figures which seems to grow on the fundamental principles of low frequencies. these figures are easily carrying loads of percussions and even an orchestral set of horns which does not seem to be from this world. the white side can be understand as a lighter interpretation of the same topic and it is thrill of its own to discover the intersections between the two tracks. sure, this music is nothing you listen to in an elevator - stanleys art demands attention, there is no doubt about this - but the reward you get if you listen or dance to it with an open heart is of a kind you might never come in contact with somewhere else.

clone v2.0! clone back in its new form.. a series of specialized series dedicated to different functionalities, emotions and styles of electronic music. the clone loft series will be releasing more traditional house and ny influenced disco for the smaller and more intimate club settings. first of reggie dokes with probably his best release so far! a-side is a dirty but massive house track that goes down very well in any house set! at first notice this might be the main track... which most likely it is for more peak-time use... but actually our favorite is the fierce i wear the mask track on the flipside. this track has a nice jumpy beat, very light... but such a balanced rhythm that it will grab one for sure. on top it has layers of strings and a bouncy bassline and very staccato keys... and everything is so well balanced, so sensitive that it really gives us goosebumps all over! it reminds even to some derrick may tracks where he managed to make his songs emotional and fragile with the same kind of timbre and hidden energy (but then less 909 orientated and such...) it has that force, that gentle force of magic that frees that inner energy, that inner power that makes you wanna dance. what a stunning track and what a strong release by mr dokes. essential!

limited vinyl edition of the black dog s new album on soma quality recordings. each of the 500 copies is hand numbered and screen printed by the artists. 3 x 180g heavyweight vinyl. the black dog are without a doubt one of the hardest working acts in electronic music. no sooner have they released one of 2008s best albums in >radio scarecrow< and the massive 12 inch >detroit vs. sheffield< which featured two remixes from detroit minimal grandmaster robert hood, they now prepare for their next album release. >further vexations< is a real successor to >radio scarecrow<. the thinking behind the predecessor is still very evident with even more bite, but theres something about the new album that lends itself to the dark club atmosphere. perhaps the recent bout of constant gigging has had its effect on the act because this one is going to be tearing up floors around the world on its release. >further vexations< might have taken half the time to create but still manages to maintain the same degree of meticulous detail and attention as its predecessor, and is a complete package of tracks demanding to be listened to from start to finish. >further vexations< looks to rouse the sort of political attitudes that have been sorely missing from electronic music since raves backlash against the criminal justice act in the 90s.

after respectable releases in the digital realm and on the german labels hardshower, kaufe musik aso. (both played by the big players like dj hell, laurent garnier george morel oder someone else aso.) he has now moved further and adds three brilliant tracks to the afulab catalogue. the driving and tension loaded bango banger opens on the main side with it s shuffling bongos and hands-in-the-air-and-scream frequency shifting sounds. this will surely rock big time and will leave no one unmoved and bored.the second track and the opener of the flipside drug pipe is another thrilling and funnily weird rocker that might be inspired by too much input to the maker ,-) der nougat baer rounds it up and shows that felix bernhardt is a promising new producer who will leave his marks and we are looking forward to hear his new material already

now, here comes daniel herrmanns (aka flug 8) debut album >lösch dein profil< in english >erase you profile< or >delete user<. fully packed with metaphors he overdraws to understate. flug 8 cannot be nailed on any genre-board, but creates a homogeneous melancholic music stuffed up with secret hopes, by reducing it on a hand full of sounds and a certain range of simplified tunes. might this be true kraut-techno?

five tracks that might reinvent deep house - incl hieroglyphic being remix!!

although jaxson and keno both have successful solo projects and have previously worked together before, this collaboration is bound to be their most notable release yet. a fusion of house, funk, latin and techno, all meet at the crossroads of their studios for a 4 track ep of sundry beats and fresh flavors. clearly the a-side, >tout le temps< is comprised of a clever hook and a hazy latino vocal sample, which carries the initial groove right into an originally played synth section. a good example of a refreshing approach to adding effects and using sounds. >tarantella< as the title might suggest, one might expect a track that would scare the living day lights out of you, but it has more of a >creeping up from behind you< sort of vibe. a subtlety creeping groove subliminally enters your unconscious mind carrying a secret message. what is that message you ask? dance! the congas on, >red baron< sound so live you can almost here the players licking their fingers. congas might be the groove in the heart of this tune, but the melody of the slick synth stabs and rising strings are what ultimately breath energy and spunk into this roller. >karate kid< initially has a minimal feel, but once the hacked up guitar and vocals come in, you can put those dirty thoughts to rest. abundant with an overwhelming amount of unique and interesting sounds, secure this tunes ability to prick up the ears of finicky djs and clubbers alike. it is rare to find such a wide variation of sound design on your run of the mill ep, but kindisch has proved they are not an ordinary label. they are consistently releasing quality tunes and always providing pleasant surprises. some might say it is a clichÚ, but this ep really does have a bit of something that will drive one club or another nuts

tyrant is the dj duo of craig richards and lee burridge, who operate as a team in the booth, resulting in a most distinct mix previously unheard. while other mix discs might split chores between two different jocks, tyrant are very much a solid unit.

henry l is the new moniker of cologne based producer/dj thats already known to the drum & bass world as henree (with releases on established labels like soul:r, cia deepkut and soundtrax just to name a few). even though hes still busy in that genre (unless others) it was about time to contribute something to a genre he always felt and took inspiration from. the other day at the basement reminds on an early mood ii swing vibe, pitched down to the right tempo. marcus worgull stripped down >the other day at the basement< a little, focussed on dubby stabs and added some wonderful harmonies to this hypnotic tune. when the soulful piano comes in, theres no question that this marcus worgull dub is one of his best remixworks to date. >wake up< is a sexy 109 bpm monster and as funky as house should be. if you need one word to describe this dope jewel it might be bouncing!<. just awesome dope shit, soulful, slow and moving

this is a 12inch for the deep heads! smote and gabanna out of slovakia delivers a rolling number with a epic feel to it! smote might be a new name on the scene but he is certanily set to make an impact. with signings to labels like vibez, good looking and now his debut on midnight sun, he is definitley one to keep your eyes and ears peeled on. on slowly down he teams up with long time key player of the slovakian drum&bass scene to create a tune that fits midnight sun recordings perfectly. smooth synths alongside a vocal hook accompanied with crisp beats makes this one a winner! dj support include ltj bukem, nookie, subject 13, physics and laos. on the flipside label boss physics, known for his varied styles and vibes, teams up with london based k.e.z.a for a funky techy roller called insomnia. minimal vibes lead you into a big drop with a heavy sub bass and dark sounds. this tune has been on rotation for awhile on dubplate making it a favorite among men with taste including tc&stress level, s.p.y , soul intent and randall.

2nd release by the talented alan 1 from rome! this guy is doing some futuristic club music. his first release sold out in the first week.. and for this one it might even be more extreme. nature re incarnated final frontier records (which did the great analog fingerprints release via submerge in detroit) now its the 3rd release which is a special split project with nature records. alan 1 is a young gun doing some crazy versatile club tracks that could be easily described (we make it our selfs easy today) as soundhack meets adonis meets mr oizo. especially sniff them and fat eye(!!!) are totaly amazing cut up chicago future disco jackers! how many of todayÆs producers have been releasing music for 13 years? not many. how many will still be recording 13 years from now? hard to say. what can be said without doubt however is that donnacha costello is in this for the long haul. since 1996 he has released dozens of 12&#8243,,,s and made significant contributions to electronic music from 2001Æs classic ambient album together is the new alone to 2004Æs universally acclaimed colorseries to 2006Æs rigorously conceptual 6x6=36 amongst others. shedding the skin of his ten year old minimise label, costello emerges from its semantic stranglehold to bring us his new label and platform look long. from this first release it is clear that costello aims to produce work of lasting quality and beauty with little regard for what a turbulent marketplace might expect of him. complexity and simplicity are addressed in equal measure here and with some surprise we find traces of eric satie, chet baker, pat metheny and steve reich. perhaps unsurprisingly we also find the unmistakable traces of grace and emotion that have become costelloÆs trademarks

after internationally acknowledged releases on philpot and buzzin fly, here today surprise us with their first ep on 33rpm records. here today (florian schirmacher & engin oeztuerk) shape computer based soulful electronic athmospheres! focused on house music but always willing to experiment with various well integrated influences, styles and sounds. engin oeztuerk and florian schirmacher share the musical affection for marvin gaye, the meters, theo parrish, basic channel, eric b. & rakim and alexander skrjabin. as a member of the band faruk green engin oeztuerk already released records on copasetik and 33rpm records. florian schirmacher has been releasing music on labels such as cadenza, cocoon, morris audio to name but a few. he is also part of the electronic house music duos glowing glisses (pokerflat) and federleicht (connaisseur). on the comrades ep, these two musicians team up with benjamin wild. benjamin wild produced ambient music in the early nineties. since the mid-90s his focus has been turning to dance music. you might know some recordings he did for kompakt, perlon, morris audio, force tracks and many other labels. let them out and enjoy!

along with number 60 in the highgrade catalogue there‘s a new producer team, joining the highgrade posse: markus schatz who scored so far with releases together with tom clark for highgrade and by himself on labels like opossum and freizeitglauben. he worked out this release with brett longman from paris, known from one of france‘s most prolific labels logistic rec. with „dope on plastic“ both start a dub and percussion rollercoaster- ride: the stripped down structure in the beginning unfolds seamlessly to a wildly grooving dub-inferno. similarly funky „push it“ continues this direction: dodgy fm-sounds meet weird synth bleeps plus a whole load of rhythm - the trackname is to be taken literally here! on the flip-side schatz & longman in „running“ are adding some fine dubby ingredients to there rhythm patterns, next exit detroit, one might say. moody without being cheesy, that‘s how we like it. „good vibes“ is zigzagging elegantly, with deep pulsating melodies worked together with an uplifting groove to a fast-paced and atmospheric track.

whoever the producer of this record might be, he manages to keep the balance between soul and pressure in his productions for complex #2.

the odyssey of aladin is a journey from party to party. it is a story of a trip beginning at a location in berlin, you might call it bla25, to a location on a southern spanish island, which you might call dissy10. that is two pennies worth for

its been a while since the last release by mark august on connaisseur, but now hes back with an extraordinary one. two tracks, both like a fairytale of a country far, far away. a fable, with mystic and mysterious animals and creatures, might best describe what mark had in mind while working on the tracks. the wasps from tunisia and the silver piggy – the main track on this release is an uncommon piece of music. it starts moody and with a stoic pumping beat, yet also a somehow laidback feeling. it then unexpectedly and surprisingly builds up to a monster of a track, working manically towards its climax. then however, over the length of the track, it completely transforms again, coming back to its beginning, as though nothing had ever happened. scorpions groove is a deep and dubby affaire.

original mix, big beats and massive vibe make the original a real dance floor monster. with an almost house vibe its hard to accurately classify, though ticking nearly all the boxes for a trance smash with awesome build ups and breakdowns. michael cassette remix, inventing their own style which you might call a kind of retro progressive house house the cassette boys never fail to impress with their big room sounds. this remix is certainly not an exception to the rule with aggressive beats and groovy oldskool sounds. store n forward remix, well whats left to say about the snf guys when everything they do is just awesome? another solid remix to add to their portfolio, a progressive sound of gritty basslines and trance euphoria.

the into the night ep is a wonderful deep, slow & moving record that should be one of the highlights in this years autumn sessions. into the night kicks off with some wild pitch – alike chords and builds up soulful, moody but strong. tectonic move is so damn groovy and might be one the funkiest trax ever coming out of the metaworld universe of matt flores. also the tempo of almost 120 bpm is sexy as hell... all percussions & the bass are played live by matt flores. “tectonic move” also features some extatic detroitish synths that makes you scream. a definitive winner! the tectonic move flores & saenger dub has been rearranged a bit by matt flores and farsides ingo saenger (one half of westpark unit). they stripped the tune, put more focus on the groove and re dubbed all harmonies & synths. the result is a funky smokers riddim for all you dubby tool headz out there.

hot on the heels of her last feel good smash these times, comes kimaras latest jammer far away, with two very distinctive remixes, the first by distant musics jon cutler. one might think we picked jon because of his coincidental label/song title relation, but one would be wrong! we picked jon because his superb production skills. the man behind the worldwide triumph its yours, as well as many others, brings a good bit o bounce to the dance floor on this remix. his lush piano chords, funky percussion, and synth zaps are a perfect bed for kimaras strong vibrant vocals to lay upon. he also turns in a truly slick dub for those looking for a bit less vox. for those looking for more tech, one of our favorite new dance producers out of japan, hideo kobayshi, slings us with a tougher, warpier punch (and dub) that ll get hearts and feet movin in synch.

bomb the bass is back! but put away that smiley face, this is no nostalgia trip. with >future chaos<, tim simenon revamps his long-running project to produce a record thats fresher than anyone might have expected from an outfit that got its start in the 80s.

the label boss returns to his own yore imprint with another stunning solo release. these are different times indeed for andy vaz if the eps three mighty jams are indicative of where his musics heading. the a-sides over here (a glance over prime time mix) roars from the very first moment vaz unleashes its steaming, latin-tinged groove. a far cry from the techno the yore label head once issued, the tune finds vaz exploring straight up dancefloor territory with a dizzying house pulse that straight up rocks. melodies and voices rise to the surface of the dionysian broil and then just as quickly recede, leaving room for a driving bass line to gain the spotlight. the flips hurry hurry (before its too late mix) is classic deep house just as one expects on yore. a jazz-inflected strut with tilman ehrhorns sax playing, wailing over waves of rollicking piano playing and spirited vocal chants. the energy level doesnt flag for the discs final track, bygone times (nostalgia mix), which stokes a fiery house swing with its locomotive pulse, futuristic synth patterning, and high-velocity bass lines. vazs music has never sounded more impassioned and energized than it does in these three tracks and consequently, just as one might predict, different times feels like its over far too soon

once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)
