vinyl only, 180g, hand drawn, hand stamped (with his own number). michel degen presents the new vinyl only label: >sanguina records.< the cover is hand drawn and every vinyl are hand stamped with his own number, so every record is unique, additional the vinyls are 180g. of course, a vision like this must be matched with music of equal calibre. for the swiss imprints debut, we have organize an impressive v/a featuring the productions of kepler., and.re, michel degen, mikhu, and drea. the v/a beginn with the side a1, the hypnotic >quiet storm< by and.re and michel degen. its a thought-provoking track with gorgeous melodies and slow, swingy romanian vibes. key-led tensions ebb and flow in this multi-layered cut, as each element effortlessly drives the track forward. with a kick that comes and goes, it becomes impossible not to get swept up in the tracks mind-melting loops. on the a2 is mikhus >sorry<, a groovier affair, with a teasing, wistful vocal. the tracks emotive effect is reminiscent of when patagonia’s >chi ci pensa< tugged at our heartstrings, but with a more melancholic flavour, fitting for the winter months. flip it over to the b2, where kepler. indulges his signature punchy flavour in >elp<. zappy hats and full bodied kicks intoxicate in this techier number. rounding off the four-tracker, is drea with >timestein<: a clubby body-mover, with a deep bass and hallucinogenic vocal. all four tracks move beyond the functional, offering listeners an intense journey that is perfect for dancefloor debauchery.

anders trentemollers career is a travel-heavy one, with his touring schedule taking him pretty much all over the world. but its his home port thats inspired his latest project, the sprawling, stunning compilation mix harbour boat trips vol. 02: copenhagen. clocking in at just over an hour long, the compilation sees trentemoller curate and craft sixteen songs into a heavy, hazy mix that ranges from shoegaze to electronica, featuring both familiar and celebrated artists like a place to bury strangers (with a new trentemoller remix) and slowdive to more obscure finds, as well as trentemollers own tracks and remixes, most notably a brand new trentemoller cover of neil youngs classic transformer man.the mix sees him pick up a thread he left off earlier in his career. in 2009 he put together harbour boat trips 01: copenhagen, a compilation mix comprised of his favourite music, both danish and international, from across four decades, loosely inspired by the motion and movement of copenhagens busy harbour. closing in on a decade later, were getting the second edition, with harbour boat trips - 02 arriving this november.

dutch duo deep dimension debut on rekids with a stomping vocal cut entitled ‘so 1992’ featuring a collaborative remix from label founder radio slave and rising star p.leone. jeffrey hek & jimmy van de geijn have been actively djing for over two decades. the pair paired up as deep dimension in 2015, combining their talents to form a signature techno sound comprised of deep basslines and powerful kicks. launched earlier this year, their vinyl label named gen x has instantly picked up overwhelming support from the likes of radio slave, tommy four seven, benny rodriguez, kobosil, and many more. they now continue their upward trajectory by arriving on matt edwards’ respected berlin based imprint, rekids. thudding kicks are joined by rising synths as pitched up vocals come into play in ‘so 1992’– the result is a rave inspired techno monster designed to throw crowds into frenzy. on the flip, radio slave pairs up with rekids regular p.leone for a cavernous reimagining complete with rolling percussion, off-beat hats and eerie atmospherics.

for our second release of 2018 ears have eyes are back with the third instalment of our throng of orbs compilation series. this time around we welcome back old friends, and bring in some new names to the ehe fold, with a collection of tracks spanning deep emotive house music, broken beats and acid dancefloor pressure. first up we have contours, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with an excellent release on the mighty rhythm section, and has put out a slew of great records since then. dither takes time to unfold, but when the fluid acid line emerges from the heady percussion he really sets up the track for dancefloor perfection. for the a2 we welcome back chocky to the label, and he serves up a slice of weighty house music that drips quality and emotion. pickle dat kicks off with an absolute beauty of a groove, understated but weighty, and from there chocky goes on to sprinkle just the right amount of seasoning, with soulful rhodes licks and a wonderful bass line. off the back of their excellent 12- on love on the rocks, elles x violet kick off the b side with yrnyb, a tried and tested dancefloor destroyer. when we heard elles playing this in a dark basement in peckham, we just had to sign it. sometimes a kick drum, an acid line and a half heard vocal is all you need. finishing off the release we have dublin artist replete serving up a lovely slice of hazy, percussive house music that slowly builds to a crescendo. an acidic bassline sits nicely over congas and a warm, rounded kick drum.

were back with the second jack cassettes series! following the success of the first jack series, weve decided to pull heavyweights out of the treasure trove of chicago reel to reels acquired by still music last year. this second series is another incredible glance into our beloved house music through some lost radio mixes salvaged from reel to reels by jerome derradji. we start with a superb one hour mix from frankie knuckles circa 1986 and dive straight to the hot mix 5 with edward get down crosby and his insane mixes, full of edits and original beat traxx. a small detour to miami is made with a killer electro mix by wgci guest joe magic. pull out the tape deck, move the furniture away and jack!

tommy rawson releases are sporadic but always high quality. as a former member of the souled duo who ran the excellent fresh minute label hes been around the more tropical end of uk house and broken beat for many years and this, his first full release for bergerac ushers forth a new level in his sound. this whole record is a masterclass in post bruk, forward thinking, shining, bright uk dance music. unmatched in emotion and vibes. deep blue is quite simply the sound of the summer. sun drenched, euphoric and soaring. broken but not broken, 4/4 but not quite housey. jazzy, soulful yeah. it was the highlight of red rack ems olive grove closing set at love international last year when it provided the most halcyon of moments. live trumpet from vicky flint and a whole bag of vibes from tommy rawson. this is a classic. trust. past tense is a super tropical african tinged house stomper which shows tommys love of sunshine vibes once more with acres of space, insistent chants, dubby pianos and a tinge of jungle roller bass. the final track into the future takes us into almost blade runner-esque orchestral emotion but with a kind of balearic feel tucked in there too. beautiful, lilting, emotional memories. you can feel so much love in this track. such a special record. buy it. love it. treasure it.
