ross alexander payne has always been interested in the earth and its relationship to all in its vicinity, this includes earths place within the universe, and the presence upon earth of both natural and manmade systems and processes. drift and expansion are tracks designed to represent a view of earth from space. it was previously believed that the earth was expanding and thus the continental land masses were moving as a result of this process. modern scientific evidence does not support this idea, and the theory of plate tectonics is now almost universally accepted. this ep represents a view of the idea of these two disparate theories as if taken from the direct space around earth. ross explains in his words >everything i do, be it music related or otherwise, is driven by this fascination with the universe around me, the quest to discover this universe and the desire to expand my knowledge of all within it<

a. serenissma: >i ve heard a couple of mixes of the original that i really liked but felt i could never play them out, it needed a bit more of an edge so i set about doing this version, really hope like it now it finally on vinyl<
b. magical body: >as nearly all italo records go, the original had a chord change that i just couldnt deal with, i took this out, eqd the bass, beefed the kick a touch and re-played the top line, it doesnt sound too bad to tell you the truth<.

the vinyl package includes an essay, which was part of the original cd package and now arrives on one side of the inner 12inch sleeve. the essay, album and track titles take direct inspiration from slavoj zizek, whose analysis of cinema was a strong beginning point for the project.

here comes the second release on the pattern repeat label. pattern repeat is a new music-project and label by kenneth christiansen, echocord & echocord colour label boss, and his partner dennis bøg aka resoe, running the baum label.the pattern repeat label will only contains productions from kenneth & dennis, and the music is focused on the modern berlin techno sound today, dubstep and dub-techno. pattern repeat will also release records on other labels, so far the first one is out on echocord colour. kenneth and dennis met eachother 8 years ago when they worked together in at that time famous copenhagen-record-shop >loud<, which closed 5 years ago. at that time dennis was more into broken beat, hip-hop and deep house. kenneth was already running the label echocord, and soon dennis started his label baum. the label baum is also like echocord, releasing dub-techno, and dennis started to release his own material as resoe, and builded up his studio the years after. 1 year ago we decided to try to do a new project together, working together in the studio, and now pattern repeat is born.
