the omnibus band was founded by jarda zajpt and petr dikan in 1979 in czechoslovakia. having met at the electronic high school, electronics was their field of expertise. over time, petr dikan constructed several sound devices such as the Šílený fridrich (Šf, crazy frederick) keyboard and the vsd (všude samý dráty/wires everywhere) generator which he operated during the recordings and also at concerts. at that time, heavily influenced by brian eno and robert fripp from the king crimson band, jarda zajpt played the guitars, using all kinds of effects, pre-recorded tapes, and one or more interconnected tape recorders. the first record, “israels”, was produced between 1980 and 1982. in 1985, jarda zajpt swapped a guitar for a keyboard and a new member arrived – pavel zvolenský – who programmed and played the automatic percussions. martin bauer, playing the bass guitar, completed the trio. they have produced a second album, “rhythmus”, in this assembly. remastered from unreleased tape recordings. this is the first release in the framework of the project jupiter 08 – archeology of the slavic electronic sound.

nagamatzu were the british duo of andrew lagowski (seti, legion, terror against terror) on synths, guitar, and programming and stephen jarvis (pure motorised instinct, terraform) on synths and bass. formed in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. their name comes from a character in jg ballard‘s “atrocity exhibition” and their music reflects his influence. nagamatzu self-released their debut cassette “shatter days” in 1983 after messing around with old tape machines, drum boxes and effects.

nice price deal !!! the corestyle story continues... with forsaken is dead (known from his waking the tyrants device ep on corestyle last year, besides his various other productions for labels like meta4, industrial strength, six feet underground or hard kryptic) and cap (hard kryptic) we have two of the az hardcore junkies here. the a-side is represented by cap and starts with the title track this is not a war, a hard industrial uptempo pounder which is yet still atmospheric. the b-side offers 2 collaborations between cap and forsaken is dead. repeating patterns is rather techno-influenced whereas the second track, pulling strings (forsaken is dead remix) starts with a mystic intro and turns into a grooving and driving monster.

‘this is eleanore mills’ was her debut and only album, recorded for the sylvia robinson’s all platinum subsidiary astroscope in 1974. the album was produced by harry ray and al goodman of the moments and tommy keith of the rimshots. it includes some great crossover and modern soul cuts, including the in-demand string laden early soul/disco ‘same routine’ a popular killer cut and ‘i’m gonna get you’ another superb up tempo soul cut. ‘fascinating devastating man’ is a lovely mid tempo track. the album includes some beautiful soul ballads ‘he said goodbye’, ‘how can i love you’ and the heavily sampled ‘telegram’ which she rips up, plus ‘teach me’ an amazing near seven minute opus which picks up a heavier groove half way through.
