welcome -into laniakea-. we are proud to present our first release: -160 mega parsec- as a various artists. different artists to represent the variety of universes we have in our supercluster. with artist on board such as passenger, caseer and voiture, transonic flow and diffuse arc, this is a versatile record. the a1 starts the journey with passenger, the italian artist gives us a spacey and slow electronic track with a moody bassline, perfect to introduce the label style. the a2 is more a bouncy housy acidish track with a weird vocal coming from the french and dutch duo. it drives from the start to the end with groovy bass and low kick perfect to kill a dancefloor. on the other side, you have a dreamy electro track from transonic flow, german duo from hamburg composed of koloman trax and hitekjaz. the b1 is a pure gem with its melodic yet rhythmic lead. they told us it has been club validated! the last track is from no one else than diffuse arc, who searched his tapes and hard drives to send us some unreleased and hidden tracks. the result is a deep and groovy ballad with acid bassline that will suit every music lovers. you got it, -into lanieakea- is all about groove and spacy dreamy tracks. we trully hope you will get touched by the vibe and the love we put into this record.

following on a trio of successes with established talent, for our fourth release manhigh takes an excursion to lesser-known regions with experimentalist desroi. previously known from eps on his eponymous imprint and total black the german newcomer quickly caught our attention. beginning with the opener, ‘indifferent’, we are introduced to his heavily sculpted, hypnotic sound world, where a rolling, repeating rhythmic framework is echoed in the higher registers with heavily-filtered delay loops, and a melodic lead line taken deeply into dub provides both a centerpiece and the basis for many other elements. another relatively new talent currently rising quickly to wider notice, phase fatale’s relaunch of ‘indifferent’ stays resolutely in his own world, a grinding, banging amalgamation of distortion, punishing in its resolve and propelled by mutated elements of the desroi’s original piece. his idea of ‘apathy’ invokes entirely more aggressive emotions than the word’s conventional usage, tightly winding bleeps around a rigid sequence kept in motion by constant effects and sporadic drum hits, which then transforms at is halfway point with the entrance of harder kicks driven by an open hat. ‘sopor’ induces trance states more than it does sleep, sophisticated applications of delay effects and patient acid combine for a deep, inward-looking hypnotic state with momentary shifts in rhythm and color evoking the ephemeral nature of dreams.

in the first ep we find the italian re_p opening the record, a rough version from an original melodic track solved with class. the veteran japanese artist go hiyama is following with a playful remix that hooks you from the beginning and shows the new direction of his sound. on the other side we find the industrial guys from serbia, ontal, which deliver an experimental strong heavy track that breaks any conventionalism in a brilliant way. and are delivering the last track of the ep, an old school techno style track at his best as the british duo likes, a peak time track to end perfectly this first record of remixes.

drawing deeply on influences from chicago and distinct from the melodic emotion achieved by artists like larry heard, each track on this 12 is awash in feeling alongside some strong rhythms to provoke bodily movement. the melodies are deep and rich, the beats are banging and it sure feels good.

we at finale sessions are excited to have french producer anaxander and finale sessions owner michael zucker together for this deep house jewel ! we start with anaxander and his track stabs of love one of the best tracks on the ep with drums from another planet and its stabing chords the permiate the dance floor ! and wicked hi hats that shread through this massive track. then we move to anaxander s other track heart to heart which gives this record a sense of deepness with it s percussions and its rythmatic keys then we move to michael zuckers first track greator is he another jem off this massive ep and we start with the melodic keys and pads that give this track a very persusive sound and a very potent late night dance floor killer top to bottom. last but not least we have michael zuckers missing you this one is a floor stomper for sure with hard kicking drums and its filtering keys and its punch love dub sound which gives this record the hardness to stand its ground.

bologna s increasing influence on dancefloors across the world continues as hotly tipped lo-fi house duo nas1 drop their first release on their home town label, sorryforthis records and is sure to be a big moment for their burgeoning reputations. it s an eclectic, multi-layered 4 track ep that pushes the boundaries of what is possible with such minimalist kit to the extreme and includes a remix from sound signature legend marcellus pittman. vino cheenese, as the title suggests, is a leftfield rumbler that, once finished, leaves you unsure how you got there - but sure you enjoyed the journey. oriental synths flutter over a pounding bassline, taking you from gloriously lo-fi, serene moments to being inundated with beats provided by a simmons sds8 and akai mpc1000 that puncture the surreal atmosphere. the pittman remix removes any pretence of serenity and has more of an eye on the dark end of the dancefloor. the bassline is rendered more ominous and the beats more relentless and distorted, while keeping the leftfield vibes in tact. ag pini brings in a lower tempo, with punching industrial yet melodic synths coming in and out of sparse rumbling beats it feels like a kraftwerk track if they had grown up in detroit. the springer is the hardest tune on the e.p – with layers upon layers of crunching beats surrounded by howling, swirling high end synths, looping in and out of each other, putting almost an entire history of dance music in one brutal track.

from 4lux to ten thousand yen, earl jeffers has been serving up plenty of upfront good time house music over the past few years, as well as steering the equally on point chesus alias. now he sidles over to the new melange label with byron the aquarius in tow, and the sun kissed vibes are positively pouring out of the record grooves. eira is where byron flexes some on-point melodic input, laying down ludicrously rich keys to ramp up the soul status of this damn fine garage-y bumper. the demo mix of eira resides on the flip and shows off a more stripped down, raw version that s no less satisfying on the ears.

‘fallen down is the second ep from tee mango and will sauls primitive trust project, featuring a remix by shanti celeste. the title track weaves percussive shuffles and vocal refrains with glowing synths, whilst colourful melodic layers and resonating vocal stabs armour the choppy live drums of ‘day one. dekmantel regular shanti celeste does what she does best with her remix of fallen down in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth, whilst ‘big tracky disco tool is exactly that.

first ep of the label lowlife cartel. dissociative tones, texture of the sound and atmosphere sought here, more than melody. no boundary in genre but same sonic ethos. the two sides of the ep includes two tracks ambient/downtempo fitting with patient listening. three other, lofi tracks, and more efficient to play into clubs. face a starts with -nerve splicing- by telekommunist, also known as wpx7, face covered and steps muffled through a deadening blizzard of tape saturation and white noisey envelops that find a balance between deepening the sense of immersion and a retained groove. -kairu- by a. latif, affiliated to the experimental and elusive russian label john s kingdom. an arsenal of textures are employed, surrounded all the time by different kind of breeths carving out a growingly satisfying contrast between the shivery charm of its melodic line and the roughness of its elements. a rough diamond. face b, -kfs-, by vslds (present on the next cousin carl release, after kinway and voyd) is a delusional and abstract piece of lofi hip hop. setting skittish drums and heavily altered rapper vox sample, smothered against a grey-ish canvas of blurry, washed-out pads. this feels both playful and unhealthy. -gotta go fast-, by paul santangelo (venetian causeway), is marked with the very personal style of this artist who does his way across the ever effervescent lofi techno scene. the round, drag-shed bass, fits with an introspective melody and atmosphere. -every man has a woman who loves him-, by loophie (raw russians), surprises the listener at the end of the disc with a lofi house track sampled from john lennon, very effective in club. the czech lofi house videomaker moskalus edited a video of it on his youtube channel. 5 artists to follow.

in what might be something of an unexpected reissue move, early rave belter -sweetness & light- from australian duo itch-e & scratch-e gets a fresh airing for the 21st century no less than 25 years after it first landed in a hailstorm of bright melodic lines and raucous tempo. in its original form -sweetness & light- is everything you could possibly want from an early trance stormer, all plush layers of harmony reaching an emotional crescendo over an irrepressibly bouncy beat. the -for life- remix meanwhile flips the script with a blissed out, chord-heavy version that slows the pace right down, possibly for the original fans of the tune who need things a little slower now.

utter presents rgbpm, trevor jackson s four piece audio-visual work originally commissioned for a live performance at the optronica festival in 2007, on london s imax, the biggest screen in the uk. optronica, programmed by addictive tv/cinefeel in collaboration with the british film institute, held its second festival over five consecutive days at the imax, ica and bfi southbank in march 2007. a showcase of the most exciting talent working in visual music, optronica s 2007 event was a platform for live performances, talks, screenings and workshops from the likes of fennesz, peter greenaway and ryoichi kurokawa. jackson s piece took over six months to develop and yet was performed only once. on march 14th the premier of rgbpm opened the festival in spectacular fashion, jackson performing the music live with its accompanying hd visuals generated in real time using custom-built software created especially by weirdcore. a powerful multi-sensory experience, the event remains one of the defining moments of jackson s lengthy career. the visuals consist of abstract shapes synchronised perfectly to jackson’s soundtrack. choreographed to represent musical elements within each track, they explore the relationship between melody, colour, rhythm and form. the diverse soundtrack combines magical motorik experiments, demented acidic jams, melodic subterranean techno and dark discordant electronic soundscapes. it s a timeless selection of music that holds its own to this day. a decade on from rgbpm s lone airing, utter is proud to release all four parts together for the first time as a special 12- package, mastered and cut by helmut erler at d&m and housed in a sleeve designed by jackson himself.

phuture-t dials up dub and drumfunk from the samples of greenleaf’s new orleans influenced track, forward motion. the beats are more broken and the effect delays are longer. the signature interview recording has been chopped and used as downbeats on the progression changes.
with melodic and rolling percussion, earl grey creates a cheerful vibe to start the ominous maze remix. the intro leads straight into the body of the track when the contrabass becomes the dominant instrument making the tone tougher. the drum breaks transition through several change ups and syncopated edits.
metro gives mhc a new treatment with extra field recordings and an extended break down. the jungle influence is stronger with bigger, funkier subs. classic break beats are layered with sound effects and noises all supporting the main rhythm of the bassline.

after a busy eighteen months promoting his debut album, essex-hailer max chapman brings us his la fiesta ep on hot creations. the title track features alongside remixes by the versatile luca cazal and house veteran todd terry. with latin vibes from the outset, max has encompassed the essence of the white isle. la fiesta is a migration of percussion, chanting and melodic vocals and flirtatious basslines. luca cazal has turned up the kick and brings an old school vibe with his remix. todd terry’s energetic arrangement of snares and bongos compliments the provencal vocal perfectly. since his arrival on the scene six years ago, max chapman has released on an abundance of labels including viva, toolroom and last years body jack on elrow, that achieved number one status across all genres on beatport. established in 2012, his imprint resonance records provides a platform for the freshest talent in underground tech-house. max’s album catch me if you can, released last year, received a notable 9/10 in both mixmag and dj mag. luca cazal has been steadily rising up the ranks since his debut release on crosstown rebels in 2013. constantly refining his production skills, luca transmits positive emotions with every track he releases. after three decades on the scene, grammy-nominated legend todd terry has continued to release superior productions and entertain crowds worldwide.

2016 was a banner year for dirtybirds founder, claude vonstroke. he debuted his get real alias with green velvet in the winter, and followed up with another number one single in the spring with the rain break. he celebrated the 10th anniversary of whos afraid of detroit to kick off the summer, and finished in the fall by being crowned americas best dj by pioneer at a ceremony he shared with all the fans at the dirtybird campout. after a relentless touring schedule the first half of 2017, claude hit the studio with a couple ace producers, will clarke & sébastien v to collaborate on two giant singles for the works well with others ep. tiny tambourine is the product of will clarke & claude working together. its a bit of a misnomer, as tiny is the last word to describe the heavy bassline which starts to form immediately at the tracks outset. continuing to build over crisp and heavy beats and outbursts of drama before dropping back to the burly bassline, the result is monstrous. will clarke has been on a dirtybird hot streak having released 3 solo eps, 5 singles, an appearance on justin martins album, as well as a brand new collab with shiba san on the bbq compilation and a full takeover on the birdhouse radio show. on the flip side, claude teams up with one of dirtybirds freshest talents, sébastien v, for daylight dark room a light, melodic tone contrasts with a dark and funky acid resonance to create a truly unique masterpiece. the mysterious sébastien v was also featured on the dirtybird bbq compilation with his super-hot track funkulate, and there are rumors floating around that he is actually someone from the core dirtybird roster sporting a secret alias.

blah blah blah turn 5 years old this may and as part of their celebrations they have saved perhaps their most exciting signing yet for a limited weare5 vinyl release, the prolific genre juggling blacksmif. blacksmif flirts on the edge of reason, taking flamboyant percussive and melodic risks within a bass driven jazz tinged environment, such is the adventurousness of his music that he has already gathered himself quite a fan club, among which he can count mixmag, gilles peterson, and mary anne hobbs as leading members.

hamburg’s fine impro-trio treibgut blesses us with a wonderful ep this summer. after a brief hiatus the three boys have refined their trademark sound even more - sitting confidently somewhere between techno, house and melodic electronica. while treibgut’s shows normally are almost ethereal snapshots due to their improvisational nature, we were able to convince them to hold down two of their finest results on tape. the outcome is a two-track ep - complemented by spot-on reinterpretations from two early supporters of our label: iorie and the duo peng peng. one remix convinces with a straight-forward club approach while the b-side is a bit more mellow and relaxed.

*landing on partial, from the man jah scoop is insurrection’ - a moody and militant organ-tinged melodic instrumental piece, which refreshingly features nothing but “real instruments”. so, think late 1970’s style with perhaps an unintentional nod towards jackie mittoo’s ayatolla’ *despite the brooding pace and nature of insurrection’, it drops heavy on sound system, especially the echo-laden dub version on the b-side. *so, jah scoop? who dat? jah scoop is in fact guy mcaffer aka geezer, the legendary techno producer and artist geezer of¬ raw and stay up forever fame. he’s also the keyboard player for festival-favourites back to the planet and guitarist with punk outfit dogshite. that’s who.

berlin-based producer, yapacc take on the original sees him transferring the song into a dancefloor-ready track whilst subtly maintaining the ambience of the original. off-beat house-esque sub-rhythms and a melodic bassline helps to keep the energy of the track moving forward, whilst the top end guitars and vocals keep the listener interest up until the very last second. russian-based dave pads remix also helps the original move onto the dancefloor with this incredibly funky, groovy-laiden back beat which simultaneously manages to hold onto the original tracks esthetical ambience. euphoric house stabs and a continuous layered texture sits behind the tracks groove, adding a sense of nostalgia and depth to an already emotive original.

austin-based musician eliot lipp delivers “skywave”, an album lipp has been working on for the past several months. with influences from sci-fi soundtracks and 70s and 80s funk, he channels a collection of weird, high-definition, melodic beats. in these nine songs lipp feels he “might have everything i want to say in one moment.” recreating key musical moments in a current and relatable way was the goal in producing skywave and giving himself permission to take some risks as well. with a versatile approach, lipp has created opportunities to connect with some of the artists he first looked up to, playing in cities across america and abroad always returning to his hometown in the pacific northwest. collaboration plays a role in all his albums. he’s been a fan of emancipator for a years now and was beyond excited to get his “not quite awake” remix. he asked dmc champ chris karns to scratch on ‘joyride’. in addition to doing cuts, chris ended up playing live drums and layering unique vocal samples. ‘reflection’ came from a jam session with gibbz and cherub in their nashville studio. one of lipp’s biggest musical influences last year came from a group of producers from seattle that call themselves fish tank friends. most of them had a hand in the early stages of ‘spiders’. with monthly trips planned from texas back to washington, he anticipates more evenings surrounded by friends, fans, and new listeners where he brings everyone together through the touch of a button.

now that his excellent free-to-download new double album, stories from sa talaia, is out, hosh is busy releasing the tacks from it on separate eps. they come on the ibiza based diynamic associate s own fryhide label, and after part one comes part two with four more essential tracks. the first is a collaboration with tim englehardt and is a supple track laden with emotive synth patterns. it has beats that rise up and down and take you on a trip to the outer edges of the galaxy. then, ocean data is an eight minute deep techno opus with watery pads, a spacious atmosphere and icy hi hats driving things along as you get swept up in the groove. on the flipside, hosh links with lehar and they come up with the brilliant o fratello mio, a driving track with physical drums and warped synth sounds. it is filled with subtle effects that add dynamism to the moody groove and again features some magical melodic sequences. last of all, fighting the deamons is a dark and late night track sprinkled with cow bells. it s for heads down dancing on intense floors and closes out a perfect second ep.

having already blessed the airwaves with their masked boiler room performance, and with releases and features seen on yume, huntley’s & palmers, permanent vacation and antho- ny napel’s probito, the promising talents of edinburgh duo hi & saberha&#776,gen continue on lo with ‘acid finger’. the five track ep showcases exactly what the pair are known for, exploring the balance of the subtle and direct natures of dance music. there is something extremely unique about their productions that breathes new life into an arguably stat- ic climate. ‘acid finger’ travels from highs to lows at a consistent and co- herent pace, starting with the sparkling, disco tinged ‘force&#769, boi&#770,te’. euphoric heights are executed through light flourish- ing synth lines, drum patters and chord stabs. ‘woodrum’ maintains the pace but switches the tone with jungle rhythms and a pounding bass. ominous belter ‘git’ with its driving kick, looped vocal sample and rolling bass. the track develops into a hopeful finish with the introduction of glittering synth movements. title track ‘acid finger’ delivers beautifully delicate percus- sive and melodic work that progressively shapes up against fleeting shrill synth lines that come to a fitting crescendo. ending the release is the melancholic atmospheres created in ‘redacted’, bringing a shift in mood and imitating a trudge through memory lane. expect to see and hear a lot more from these guys in the future..

vincent inc s manuscript records continues to bolster its identity as a vinyl label after years in the digital domain with this crucial single from label founder vincent inc. -wilder- is a seductive opening track that bubbles along on a bed of honey coated melodic tones that should sit easy on the ears of any day time dancer, while -cold winds- takes a more somber approach with bluesy keys and heartfelt vocals. -dreams of d&l- ups the energy levels with a strict drum set and spiritual melodic swells, and then -sax night- edges towards more experimental territory for the mind to happily trip out on. ... support by jimpster..

jose lau delivers the fifth release on urban imagery. four tracks from familial territory by a producer who originally hails from managua, nicaragua. what is evident in jose lau’s debut release is the unique melding of traditional deep house elements with unassuming latin-funk percussion. common throughout is his masterful use of chicago-eque basslines and delicate pad movements alongside minor-key melodic underpinnings. the outcome is buffered by lo-fi harmonics and dub overtones. late night introspective music to its core.

arctor appeared on our radar a year or so ago and stands out with his high-bpm, melodic techno blend. time and time again he has been surprising us as a producer and dj with amazingly crafted music. so when we decided to do a vinyl only sublabel, we just couldn’t think of anyone else to do the debut release. we hope you will love the three tracks he made and the acid-infused remix by gynoid audio’s advanced human.

german artist joel kehren is next up on roundabout sounds’ latest ep titled real love-. “real love” is a deep techno, bass line-driven beauty accompanied by a remix from an mpc-driven artist geffen. the flipside contains a lovely melodic remix from none other than orlando voorn.

hot on the heels of inre rydmen, the ep that the swedish multi-instrumentalist group tommy awards released via origin peoples in mid-june, come the remixes. drafting in a cohort of the very best, this impending release will see the likes of jonny nash, coyote and mystic jungle tribe jump on the remix duties, touching original productions with their unmistakable idiosyncrasies. bartosz kruczynski, the polish producer better known under his earth trax guise, is another name credited on the release, offering up a 15-minute epic as he reinterprets penultimate track, hans logan. also to see an appearance on this ep is the romanian eirwud mudwasser, offering up a rendition of the track ‘mike sierra foxtrot’ reworked in a similar esoteric expanse, albeit it quite a bit more lucid. oscillating electronics mesmerise and an arpeggiating synth melody gradually make way for marimbas. sweeping, elongated strums of guitar stretch out like the horizon and the dialogue between various melodic elements continues throughout as we bear witness to various transformations. irregardless of pacing, the meditative quality remaining consistent throughout each glorious edit.

null+void finally step up with their second release after impressing with the opening salvo from shinra, and this time electro fans will be in a tizz to discover that radioactive man, monoak and london modular s simon lynch have teamed up for four utterly essential workouts that tickle the synapses just as much as wiggling your booty. -tiger stripes- is a tightly wound snake charmer with intricate rhythmic patterns offset by chilling pad sweeps, while -fruitcake- gets even more frantic with its growling distortion and unrelenting tempo. -land- cools things down to a minimalist techno mindstate on the b-side, and then -aesop- teases out a more melodic kind of electro for the braindance crew.

take care out there, roy of the ravers is back with another round of boisterous hardware hack-outs on acid waxa. you can tell he means business on opening track -supremacy royale-, a fast and mean-tempered slice of bleepy techno with brains to match its brawn. -ambergris 9- is a more playful jam with wonderfully dated melodic lines lifted from the pantheon of bbc library music, and then -time 2 jack- spins off into strange, abrasive realms of experimental acid. the epic -en trance 10- wheels its way through more than 15 minutes on the b-side, employing trancey bassline strategies to keep your brain locked on course for the full trip.

following “conningham ep” reach return with another uncompromising 12” from duo thread. dropping it’s predecessors unashamedly raw bashfulness, “goldhawk ep” is a subtler, deeper affair yet it still maintains its bass heavy, electro leaning edge.
the first track “ellerslie” ets the tone for the ep, a trip through the cosmos, with shimmering synth lines taking you on a journey through the galaxy. subtle variations float effortlessly on the driving rhythm patterns, the bassline only a distant presence. the 2nd cut “sycamore” is another journey into the deep, a slightly more housey affair, a motorik drum patterns carrying an eerie, deep atmosphere that is punctuated by melodic patterns appearing unexpectedly.
on the flip “the grove” instantly works up a sweat - claps, dark synth riffs and a relentless drum pattern. ferocious, in your face dance floor work out. rounding-off the ep in style “goldhawk” is the sparsest of the tracks on offer. built on bare bones frame, there’s melodic flourishes, subtle production trickery, galloping along a 2 step-ish percussion pattern. thread further cementing their eclectic production style with this strong ep.

there are few operators out there with the understated skills to match colin macbean. the man known best as mr g is a master of the stripped down, simple groove and he s been invited to holic trax to demonstrate that with two productions of the most immaculate house music. -soba shioyaki- hovers with a touch of mystery in its melodic hooks - a punchy monosynth basslines and sweetly shifting chords striking a melancholic note perfect for heads-down moments. -komorembi- is more overtly deep, using an urgent shuffle beat to propel spacious chords through the atmosphere in that inimitable mr g style.
