10 years ago the29nov films was started in a small village in southern germany. thousands of videos and millions of views later sebastian kökow and kevin paschold have become one of the most sought after video producers in electronic music - mostly for industrial-leaning techno, but also for all other kinds of electronic music. to celebrate their 10th anniversary the29nov has finally gathered a few of their favourite artists and they all have contributed to a compilation, which will be released on 2 double 12-es, one out in november 2016, the other one to follow soon.

u is a producer and dj currently living in london. previous records for man make music have proven suitable for the club as well as home listening, while a collaboration with babe, terror as btu for erol alkan’s phantasy label was varyingly described as “pleasure with a sense of dread” (the line of best fit) and “akin to having five songs playing simultaneously on your computer” (the guardian). 2014 saw u’s debut ‘haven in a heartfelt world’ ep described as -giddy electronic fuzz that packs the subtlest of punches descends into dense glitch noise then returns triumphant gritty and melodic” (crack magazine) and “distorted dreamstates” (ransom note). after the deranged chamber­edits of vienna for where to now?, u returns to the well­trodden path between flattery and irreverence in dance music with a special edition 2-­track 12- for phantasy sound. friendly ghost enters with a splay of combat­bongos, a thin synthetic aura draws over the fluctuating rhythms before a strangely negative bassline sets the pace in nu­wave perpetual motion, inevitably spiraling back on itself into a clattering reversal. on the flip ascension hymn rushes headlong into a mechanical shunter, abruptly dragged back by a frail and singular voice reciting an uncertain mantra of self­fulfilment over this blunted hardcore epic spanning 13 minutes. pressed to heavyweight vinyl, designed and printed by the artist in an edition of 300ish.

for his maiden voyage through space, shan (victor shan, if it matters to you, and it should) offers good to me, a pair of revelatory dancefloor productions inspired by many a long night and early morning spent at the legendary frankfurt institution robert johnson. a finely-tuned specimen of durable, architectural sampling, the 12” title track runs a rigorous course of breakbeat rhythms and classic chords while a diva’s pleas are made and answered within seven minutes of perfect primetime rave. on the flip, shan churns through metallic stabs and primed drum sequences for the devious “version 1.” shan spent close to four years perfecting “version 1” through various dancefloor demos, no more evident than in the stunning arc of this sought after jam.

after a split release with chambray on ben sims’ hardgroove in 2016 greek-producer george tounisidis is set to drop a new 12” for symbolism in november entitled ‘solidarity’. with his first two cuts for the british dj’s imprint picking up support from the likes of dvs1, jackmaster and anthony parasole it’s unsurprising sims has tapped him for a full release on symbolism. since signing, tracks from ‘solidarity’ have also featured in both ben sims’ boiler room and run it red radio shows, resulting in a barrage of requests for release details which tees up the ep nicely. musically, ‘solidarity’ moves between scattered sequences and stabs (‘three clicks left’ & ‘solidarity’), muted hypnotics (‘nekyia’) and fractured acid (‘workers’) while all retaining the distinct sense of movement and dynamism that typifies symbolism releases.

church label boss seb wildblood continues his catalogue with sw004. the release follows wildblood’s much sought after cassette from earlier this year (sw004) which featured three of the four tracks on the record, whilst the new addition doesn’t deviate far from the sw playbook. ‘every body looks good at the restaurant’ offers up meandering sax melodies, warm jazzy pads & soft percussive layers amidst an intriguing monologue.

after the success of their first release, emotive returns with a 3 track follow up from label forefathers silk 86. emotive 002 continues the theme of its predecessor, with an evocative blend of house, disco and some much needed soul laying the foundations for all 3 tracks.
the aptly named “vince charming” kicks off the package, drawing you in with a smooth bass hook before the vocal gets to work on embedding itself deep into your mind. on the flip side “whenever you need me” is a driving house workout, featuring cascading strings and horns straight out of disco s heyday. rounding off the package is the not so subtle “vince charming g mix” a thumping club ready rework of the a side.

dance 2017 is a new various artists ep series and compilation from the secretsundaze camp. this is the first release from the label after a year hiatus & sees fred p, nubian mindz & james priestley & marco antonio spaventi feature. fred p s contribution is a direct club track with a familiar sample. nubian mindz who has been producing under various guises for many years steps up with the deadly testing theories coming on like some of photek s more tech leaning material. last up is a woozy, unreleased aybee remix of james priestley & marco antonio s baia 2012. 12 inch full sleeve with sticker

exactly one year after developer s 5 year anniversary release on modularz which also was also celebrated in a special label night at berlin s premiere techno club berghain back in november 2015. he returns for is next ep named -dispatches from la- developer went to his home city of la over the summer 2016 to play a calendar of shows in the us and to record this ep from his 2nd studio in los angeles. its more of his trademark sequenced based yet hypnotic sound with a bit more of analog gear used for this one. tip

after his ep together with ness, giorgio gigli returns to planet rhythm with another italian collaboration. this time he is joined in the studio by roman talent vsk. whilst gigli is known for his hypnotic productions on labels such as prologue and his own zooloft, vsk has been steadily releasing bangers on labels such as eartoground and recently perc trax.
both gentleman’s styles are blended flawlessly together in a masterful ep. reverb soaked sounds are effortlessly merged with powerful kicks and basslines. from the haunting atmosphere on “silent age” to the trademark vsk synthwork on the b-side, this special collaborative debut is one that we surely hope to to present again on planet rhythm!

after three years and ten eps, amsterdam s will & ink label offers up its first full length from label favorite yaleesa hall and is called woodall. it explores texture, space and sound design in fascinating ways. since 2014 yaleesa hall has released four eps on the label and has become known for breakbeat laced stripped-down techno. this debut album finds the producer indulging a less dance floor focussed version of his sound, and one that is better suited to the full length format. explaining that his tracks most often start as -sound structures and experiments- that then get reworked for the club, here they stay closer to their original forms. woodall is sound sculpture that is electronic and synthetic but also made of real world sounds that are all truly absorbing. comes in gatefold sleeve.
