the soul notes imprint has never restricted itself to just one sound. ever since it emerged in late 2011, the basque county based outfit has shown several sides of its identity and has developed into a diverse and well balanced home. one of the labels usual suspects is cologne native, adryiano. after reaping some havoc with his efforts on the snx series early last year, adryiano has been crafting his down south ep (ironically) somewhere in the north rhine-westphalian concrete jungle. the down south ep is buldging with deep sine basses, fine rhythmic synthwork and lavish but hefty beats. the title track showcases these exact things best. the essence of adryiano s latest effort is still somewhat hard to pin down. a lot of different moods are going on throughout the ep while the overall sounds maintains it s own glance. from the deep machinefunk on down south to the broken beats of feel what you do. all of these bits have a nice theme to them.

we started the classic series featuring tracks that we love, bought, played out and which we have the feeling more people should know about them. for this first edition, it is a great honor for us to welcome such a living legend, a pioneer from the chicago house scene: mr k alexi shelby! at the age of 12 he was already moving in the right circles, befriending frankie knuckles and ron hardy whilst frequenting the famous warehouse. his upbringing in chicago in the 70s and 80s meant that he was exposed to a range of genres and different styles of music including stevie wonder, prince, curtis mayfield and david huff. these same names would prove to be the roots of his influences. this projet includes two classic and timeless moments of chicago house & techno music.

julio bashmore today premieres brand new track rhythm of auld. like recent single simple love, its set to feature on bashmore s forthcoming debut album which is due for release in february on his own broadwalk label. rhythm of auld is another brilliant collaboration with vocalist j danna (who also featured on simple love) and is the second 12inch in a series of vinyl releases bashmore will put out in the run up to the album.

after the latest podcast of its series, for the next release outis music has chosen sardinian artists claudio prc and ness. both known previously for their solo projects, their collaborations, and also together as the gods planet they journey deep into remote sides of techno music. the affinity between concepts of their tgp project and dino sabatinis philosophy leads them to make their contribution to the label. icore is an obsessive and straight 4/4 track, where a hypnotic and synthetic arp floats into visceral and noisy atmospheres. beside the original, italian artist nuel give his dry and wild version, as well label boss dino sabatini complete the ep with a very deep and transcendental remix.

daze follows up his seminal lips white label with a huge three-track ep for the core lobster theremin label. traversing a bastardised series of themes that sees jersey house blended with overdriven rave, tinker-toy acid lines slicing through shrouded doom techno and chattering hip-hop loops rolling over classic breakbeat house.

mindtours and freerotation boss steevio releases his first album for 10 years on his own imprint. the album was recorded live during practice for recent gigs on steevios modular synthesizer, and is entirely improvised. animistas follows on from his modular techno series, and the recent collaboration with move d, juju and jordash, and soulphiction (as the high-on-wye quintet) on the new freerotation label, and continues his progression into deeper, jazz tinged techno territory.

after a series of prized splits and collaborations, m_rec ltd s own max_m returns with dissertation , his latest fully-fleshed solo effort. the kidnapper bell was his last ep for m_rec ltd. the avid vinyl lover and collector has since put his -maximalist- values to work sharing wax with the likes of fabrizio lapiana of attic music, as well as with newcomers wrong assessment. not one to rush things, dissertation then comes at a peak time for max_m and m_rec ltd, representing the culmination of a ceaseless dedication to the type of stolid, hypnotic brand of techno intrinsic to both chief and label.

isabel, the first of a new attic series dedicated to hurricanes, is the latest ep signed by fabrizio lapiana on his own label and including remixes from reeko (mental disorder / pole group) and max_m (m_rec ltd). lapiana delivers two tracks with mighty and warm bassdrum, hihats and evolving percussions everywhere focused on diffuse electric click and vivid minimalism. the pole group artist shapes “dfract” into a more bodily and harder structure while the m_rec boss takes the same track and makes its own atmospheric and ultra-rhythmic style. proper dirty dancefloor techno of the highest order.

subjected, boss of the vault series imprint, makes his warm up debut with his rest one ep. the release includes two original tracks plus a remix by oscar mulero. rest one is based on a cemented beat made of metal hits, fat kicks and abused hi hats. the synthetic sequences, deep sub frequencies and aggressive drones move along the beat changing shape and evolving as the track goes on. shift is the second number, sci-fi arpeggios, subtle kicks, moving percussions and an hypnotic arrangement. oscar mulero reshapes shift by preserving the original arpeggio, adding effects and peppering the track with synth stabs in a constantly changing structure.

arturo garces, our brother from the west coast, returns to robsoul with his looking for strangers ep. loved by the robsoul community for his beats from the streets series, the san jose resident first appeared on the label back in 2012 with a trio of tracks that made up vol.1. two more collections followed and firmly established arturo as one of the labels most exciting talents. a label boss himself, arturo is seen as having helped define what is known as the silicon valley sound. his own blend of beat-laden house infused with elements of soul, funk and disco has seen him become a favourite with the likes of sneak, farina and weeks.
looking for strangers opens with the latin guitar licks of the title track before we are treated to the deeper jackin vibes and delicious chords of bassment beat. the vicious kick drum of no fool leads us on the flip, with its awesome stabs of soul. in motion featuring the subtle and sultry vocals of silencia closes the ep with its twisted filters and bass-heavy beats.

it has been over 6 years since anton pieete and jeroen liebregts have released any collaborative material under their museum name, but now finally they are back. this 3rd release of the radial records catalogue is the first of a series of eps from the duo. both of these artists have made a transformation towards analog hardware instruments over the years, these tracks are the total sum of putting together their heavy machinery and their minds: the ultimate mixture of dark roughness and funk.

the untold stories: protagonist series. records dedicated to the stories of some venerable but unsung historical figures. the first of the protagonist series was created by sil, and gives a glimpse into the spirit of the first such figure: tadeush konrad. sil, the pseudonym of kirill sylantev, who is more widely known for his work in the duo easy changes, now begins solo productions. for the untldpro series his work dedicated to tadeush konrad is of confident vibe, with much swing and rich with soulful flashes from times past. this work is then remixed by ztrl and hubble. first comes the ztrl remix, with energetic bass and a wealth of tones interrelating to great hypnotic effect. then on the b-side hubble s remix, an extended work, a floating journey of warm organic sounds, concludes the story and the spirit of tadeush konrad.

we are back with the 4th episode of the seed series. this is ep was born from the recent collaboration between deepbass, head of informa records, and nax_acid owner of the label. the record is a deep voyage between abstract and distorted atmospheres and pulsing analog and acidic sound all blend in with 4/4 and broken techno beats, taking you to an imaginary garden of the hesperides, nymph garden, inspired from the greek mythology. hesperis, erebus and nyx, nymph of the night and darkness, will accompany you through the journey across the ravishing garden, guiding you through the elegance of a splendid dark night enlighten by a new moon.

girl units club-dwelling hysterics alias makes his first appearance on the night slugs main series. his opening statement via club constructions vol. 5 introduced a dungeon world of hydraulic rhythm tracks driven by primal exertion. hysterics ep offers a first glimpse of colour from the artist (mainly oxidised bronze!).

following the recent part 6 & part 7 releases comes the next and, for now, final chapter taking the series (that originated on the now defunct phono label circa 1995) up to part 8

plan b recordings continues its underground sounds compilation series. the a side represents label bosses dj spider and dakini9. dj spider is his usual twisted self on *hive mind* and dakini9s house- techno hybrid *lost* reveals a few layers of meaning for the careful listener. the b side welcomes berlins franklin de costa with a deep moody burner named *retreat* and fifth wall records co-boss divvorce turns in a stomper with *e./b.* to close out the compilation.

the tenth in the series has been twisted in an all too unconventional fashion for the wilson imprint. here we have the sequential ep from the wls09, dedicated to some seriously hot, off the wall remix action from 4 of the most revered artists in the game today, chicago house legend, gene hunt, the notorious hotmix boss, simoncino and a remix each from berlin based techno-house duo, the analog cops. get ready for some unreal sonic business.

for the 8th instalment of to rack & ruin we see the long awaited return of neil diablo this time dropping the evil k neil moniker from used for the first 2 volumes of the edits series. first up on foreva neil skilfully chops up a little known raw 122bpm proto-house disco jam which has sumptuous boogie bassline, choppy stabs and a wonderful soulful female vocal extended and edited for dance floor delight. on the flip is love ma gin. a glittery disco affair with a heavy bassline and glamorous strings which builds and builds. early dj support come from crazy p, pete herbert and emperor machine.
